Bug#799558: inkscape: SVG files are (re-)opened at arbitrary zoom level; usually showing minor portions of the page, only

2015-09-20 Thread Andreas Neudecker
Package: inkscape
Version: 0.91-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When opening SVG files, inkscape seems to choose arbitrary zoom levels. In most
cases only a small part of the page is shown. It happens regardless whether the
image has been created/edited with Inkscape before or not. This requires the
user to manually set a usable level for viewing the image or working on it.

After my opinion, images created/edited in Inkscape should be re-opened at the
same zoom level that was used when they were last saved. As a fall-back value,
a zoom level showing the whole page (same as pressing [5]) would be a
comfortable solution.

Regards

Andreas

Bug#798341: [inkscape] impossible to install inkscape

2015-09-20 Thread Tsu Jan
Dear maintainers, if by "unofficial repositories" you mean the excellent
work that is being done at "deb-multimedia.org", it's not to be blamed:
the current mess persists after removing it from "sources.list". I have
a working system only because I use Synaptic to upgrade packages one by one.

IMHO, the word "transition" has become a widespread excuse for the poor
maintenance. Each maintainer MAY do his/her job well enough but the lack
of coordination is obvious.

What should we do with these bugs?
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=ardour

They are not appropriate probably anymore as we moved ardour4 to ardour package.
Should we just close them?

Is this still reproduce-able with the latest release in unstable?
If yes ... did you contacted upstream author?

Can provide a stack trace?

Bug#799594: vlc's break/replace on vlc-plugin-pulse should be << 2.2.1-4

2015-09-20 Thread Stephen Kitt
Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.1-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

With the recent transition of vlc 2.2.1-4 to testing, my testing
systems fail to upgrade without help because of vlc-plugin-pulse. It
seems to me that the break/replace in vlc should be (<< 2.2.1-4)
rather than (<< 2.2.0~pre2-2~) to convince apt that it should just
remove vlc-plugin-pulse...

Regards,

Stephen

Uploading soundtouch to Experimental [NEW trip]

2015-09-20 Thread Miguel A . Colón Vélez
Hi:

Could someone check (I think I got it right) and upload the new upstream
release of soundtouch [1] to experimental? It requires a trip through
NEW so I can't do it myself. Upstream broke ABI in 1.9.1 without a
SONAME bump and bumped the SONAME in 1.9.2. I already tested all the
reverse dependencies and everything works and builds fine. I need to
get it through NEW to be able to schedule the transition and fix the
10 currently broken packages in sid..

Thanks for all,
Miguel

This is not enough. You will also have to remove all packages installed
from these repositories.

Though, as has already been pointed out several times in this bug
report, it does not help in this specific case. The solution is to wait
until (1) libraries have migrated to testing and (2) packages rebuilt
against migrated libraries have migrated to testing.

If you are using Debian testing, you are using a rolling release.
Either you get over the fact that it is "rolling" or you should use
stable instead.

Say, how would you organize a C++ ABI transition that affects some 1000
packages then?

Also, applauding for the "excellent work" being done at d-m.o and at
the same time complaining about lack of coordination among maintaners
isn't going to support your point.

soundtouch_1.9.2-1_amd64.changes is NEW

2015-09-20 Thread Debian FTP Masters
binary:libsoundtouch1 is NEW.
binary:libsoundtouch1-dbg is NEW.

Your package has been put into the NEW queue, which requires manual action
from the ftpteam to process. The upload was otherwise valid (it had a good
OpenPGP signature and file hashes are valid), so please be patient.

Packages are routinely processed through to the archive, and do feel
free to browse the NEW queue[1].

If there is an issue with the upload, you will recieve an email from a
member of the ftpteam.

If you have any questions, you may reply to this email.

What's the reason behind Conflicts + Replaces + Provides in libsoundtouch-dev?
libsoundtouch1-dev never existed.

It still exists:
https://packages.debian.org/squeeze/libsoundtouch1-dev

I left it there since from my understanding squeeze is in LTS till
2016-02-06 and I thought that I still needed to support upgrading from
it. Now that I look at it again it could have been relaxed to a break
but that Conflict is from before I started maintaining the package.
Also, libsoundtouch1 should break/replace libsoundtouch1c2 if I'm
still going to support upgrading from squeeze. Should I change any of
those now or wait till the unstable upload?

Cheers,
Miguel
