I am still waiting on user feedback, and feedback from the proper maintainers (so I maybe can make it a Team Upload instead of NMU), but I can do it this week. Bug#870936: mediatomb: should mediatomb be removed from unstable?

The answer is: yes it definitely should be removed. However, there is a replacement fork called gerbera (which I haven't finished packaging yet) and I don't want to lose all the open bugs against mediatomb which may also apply to gerbera. I'm going to try and finish it some time during DebConf so hopefully this won't be an issue... That lives in libdirectfb-bin. So directfb is missing a cross-specific dependency on libdirectfb-bin. Since it wants to run directfb-csource, it needs to be installed for the build architecture. That can be achieved by either marking the libdirectfb-bin dependency with :native or by marking libdirectfb-bin Multi-Arch: foreign. I think the latter is appropriate here, because libdirectfb-bin contains only command line utilities. As far as I understand their behaviour does not depend on the architecture of the package. If that statement is wrong, it must not be marked M-A:foreign. Please consider applying the attached patch after verifying that M-A:foreign is indeed correct on libdirectfb-bin. The build of 1.7.7-3 no longer runs directfb-csource, so I consider this issue fixed there. Bug#870622: ffmpeg: autopkgtest SIGBUS on armhf with binutils 2.29

I think all the code in that file is compiled in the same mode, so > if the mode is retained then simply dropping +CONFIG_THUMB might work. All the usual register branch instructions set or reset T32 (Thumb) mode according to bit 0 of the target address. This is to enable "interworking": an A32 function can call a T32 function and vice versa. What Jiong suggested, above, looks like the right solution for now. ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
Bug#870676: ffmpeg requires NEON on armhf, which is not part of the ARMv7 ABI
As far as I know, the best way to implement run-time detection of hardware capabilities is with getauxval(AT_HWCAP) and getauxval(AT_HWCAP2). There is some kind of NEON detection in ffmeg. See, for example: https://sources.debian.net/src/ffmpeg/7:3.3.3-1/libavutil/arm/cpu.c/ That code appears to use /proc rather than getauxval. Is there a good reason for that? In case someone reading this has access to hardware (or a simulator) without NEON but is not familiar with ffmpeg, what is a quick and easy way of checking whether ffmpeg is working? There are other libraries in Debian that do run-time detection of NEON: fftw3 is one, I think. ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
