Bug#765969: (no subject)

2015-07-25 Thread Francesco Muzio

I have to correct myself,

Now seems that codec used in files like
http://thud.us/videos/misc/xvid-samples/flyby-xvid.avi to be supported
by VDPAU, but other recognized as unsupported types, like wmv9 (
example:
http://download.wavetlan.com/SVV/Media/HTTP/WMV/ConvertedFiles/Blaze/Blaze_test1_WMV-WMV9MP_CBR_320x240_AR4to3_15fps_512kbps_WMA9.2L2_32kbps_44100Hz_Mono.wmv
) shows the same problem: an horizontal green line under the video

2015-07-24 Thread Francesco Muzio

Package: vlc

Package: vlc

this bug is still open for me

today I have upgraded VLC (2.2.1) from the testing branch and I have
experienced the same problem

I report here the output of the command
$ VLC_VERBOSE=1 vlc

what driver/graphics card are you using?

I haven't any problem with mp4/h264 video, only with xvid/divx. And
uncheck the accelerated video output (overlay) didn't solve the problem.

2014-10-25 Thread Francesco Muzio

I have to correct myself,

the output modules have effect after a restart of VLC.

starting VLC with x11 output video reproduce the same movie without the
green line

Hence
$ vlc -V x11
and
$ vlc -V glx
do not show the green line, instead of
$ vlc -V vdpau
and
$vlc -V xv
that show this bug

Bug#765969: [vlc] green line under some Mpeg-4 XVID videos

2014-10-19 Thread Francesco Muzio

Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.0~pre4-1
Severity: normal

Dear maintainers,

After the latest upgrade of VLC in testing branch I have expirienced a
problem when I playing some avi file with an XVID content.

Some video shows an horizontal green line at the bottom of the video.
The green line is seen especially if I play a fullscreen 16:9 video on a
16:10 (or 4:3, 5:4) screen.

Not all, but most videos shows this problem. I have tried VLC on i386
and amd64 machines ad the bug affect both architectures

I have found an already online video to reproduce the problem
http://thud.us/videos/misc/xvid-samples/flyby-xvid.avi

Bug#765969: [vlc] green line under some Mpeg-4 XVID videos

2014-10-19 Thread Francesco Muzio
The green line is visible also is visible also when the height of the
screen matches the height of the video. Hence the line is overlapped the
bottom of the screen, but don't change its colour o brightness during
the playing. (if I understand correctly your question)

The attached screenshot has been taken when VLC is playing the video
linked in my previous message.
I have tried the default output module VDPAU, the OpenGL (XCB) and the
X11 (XCB). same result for all three.

I have also restored the options of VLC without sucessful.

Bug#436339: [vlc] xdg-screensaver fails and xprop became a zombie

2011-09-02 Thread Francesco Muzio

Package: vlc
Version: 1.1.11-2+b2

I have experienced this bug

I use KDE 4.6.5 on a debian testing and i have set the phosphor
screensaver (a screensaver included in xscreensaver package)
But this bug happens also if I use the KDE's clock screensaver or the
black screen.

Again, if I use this function to stop the screensaver
for each played movie, the command ps -A show me two new persistent record:

 6106 ?00:00:00 xdg-screensaver
 6114 ?00:00:00 xprop defunct

each time a new process of xdg-screensaver fails and xprop became a zombie

All this not happens with other player like xine
