[Python-modules-team] Bug#795976: sphinx: please make the build reproducible (timestamps, randomness)

2015-08-19 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Hi Val,

On Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:07:32 +0200, Val Lorentz wrote:
The attached patch removes build timestamp from the output
documentation, makes domains sorted in HTML documentation, and makes
generated automata (and their pickle dump) deterministic. Once applied,
sphinx (and packages using sphinx) can be built reproducibly in our
 current experimental framework.

Thanks a lot for the patch! This was actually in my TODO list, and you
helped me to make it a bit shorter :)

A couple of questions though:

* Will you forward the upstream part to upstream, or should I do that?
It is a simple as a pull request to https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx.

* The PYTHONHASHSEED setting in debian/rules was there for purpose
(needed to make sure tests pass with it, as there was a bug in earlier
versions when they didn't). Is it possible to keep the old value?
Maybe you can use something else than builtin hash()?

If it's impossible, then debian/rules should set PYTHONHASHSEED=random
  explicitly when running tests.

Dear Maintainer,

your package either build-depends or depends on the python-support
package, or uses dh_pysupport in debian/rules file.

python-support has been deprecated for some time, and any package
still using it should be migrated to dh_python2 and dh_python3.
Instructions on how to migrate packages to dh_python2/dh_python3 can
be found on the Debian wiki [0]. An overview of the anatomy of a
package using the pybuild and dh_python{2,3} helpers can be found in
the Python Module Style Guide [1].

Please test your package thoroughly to make sure the transition to
dh_python2/dh_python3 is done correctly and does not cause a negative
impact on your package. In particular, please test upgrades from the
current jessie and stretch/sid versions of the package.

If your package does not yet use Python 3, please consider adding
Python 3 support to your package at the same time as updating the
build system; the py3k porters can offer assistance with that [2].

[Python-modules-team] Bug#792715: opencv: FTBFS with Sphinx 1.3: wrong code to detect Sphinx version

2015-08-19 Thread Simon McVittie
Control: reopen 792715

On Sat, 15 Aug 2015 at 15:54:33 +, Debian Bug Tracking System forwarded:
* Fix message when calling sphinx-build without arguments
  (print_help.diff; closes: #792715).

I'm looking into NMUing opencv for the libstdc++ transition.

This change does not actually address the opencv FTBFS, because opencv
specifically reads sphinx-build's stderr, and the newly patched
sphinx-build writes to stdout.

I personally think the right solution to this is for opencv to stop
checking the sphinx-build version at all, since it doesn't actually
use it for anything, and that's what I intend to NMU if its maintainers
don't object.

Regards,
S

[Python-modules-team] Bug#792715: Bug#791226: opencv: library transition may be needed when GCC 5 is the default

2015-08-19 Thread Simon McVittie
Control: tags 791226 + patch pending

On Fri, 03 Jul 2015 at 13:13:16 +, Matthias Klose wrote:
Rename the library package, append v5 to the name of the package
(e.g. libfoo2 - libfoo2v5).

I have uploaded a NMU to the DELAYED/2 queue with the attached patch.
The changes are also available from my clone of the debian-science opencv
git repository: git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/users/smcv/opencv.git.

My NMU also addresses #792715, because it broke the build, but not
#794856, which is not a regression (and seems like something that's
better for a maintainer to deal with).

[Python-modules-team] Bug#796171: package includes generic ez_setup.py, which should be packaged separately

2015-08-19 Thread Toni Mueller
Package: python-pymodbus
Version: 1.2.0-2
Severity: minor

Hi,

the package seems to be the only source for getting ez_setup.py, which
seems to be required by several python packages. It is imho the wrong
thing to require every user of ez_setup to install this package to get
it.

Cheers,
--Toni++

[Python-modules-team] squeeze update of python-django?

2015-08-19 Thread ben
Hello dear maintainer(s),

the Debian LTS team would like to fix the security issues which are
currently open in the Squeeze version of python-django:
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2015-5963
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2015-5964

Would you like to take care of this yourself? We are still understaffed so
any help is always highly appreciated.

If yes, please follow the workflow we have defined here:
http://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Development

If that workflow is a burden to you, feel free to just prepare an
updated source package and send it to debian-...@lists.debian.org
(via a debdiff, or with an URL pointing to the the source package,
or even with a pointer to your packaging repository), and the members
of the LTS team will take care of the rest. Indicate clearly whether you
have tested the updated package or not.

If you don't want to take care of this update, it's not a problem, we
will do our best with your package. Just let us know whether you would
like to review and/or test the updated package before it gets released.

Thank you very much.

Ben Hutchings,
on behalf of the Debian LTS team.

PS: A member of the LTS team might start working on this update at
any point in time. You can verify whether someone is registered
on this update in this file:
