[Python-modules-team] Bug#879958: python3-pyqt5.qtwebengine: package not available for Raspberry Pi

Hi, and sorry for the delay!

Package: python3-pyqt5.qtwebengine
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

According to packages.debian.org, this package is only built for amd64 and
i386 architectures.
To use it on the Raspberry Pi, one would need it to be built also for ARM.
The Qt5 packages on which this one depends, such as libqt5qui5,
libqt5webenginecore5, libqt5webenginewidgets5 etc, already appear to be
built.
Is this just an oversight, that the python bindings are missing?

As an aside, Raspbian already includes architecture-neutral packages which
depend on this python3-pyqt5.qtwebengine package, and these fail to install.

In fact I think this bug report should go to Raspbian, not to Debian.

>From the Raspbian build logs [1], it looks like qtwebengine is available
there only in buster, not in stretch (even though the version from Debian
stretch builds fine on armhf).

Also for some reason even when I added qtwebengine/armhf support to pyqt5 in
5.7+dfsg-6, the Raspbian developers reverted that change in 5.7+dfsg-6+rpi1
upload (and it is still reverted in 5.9+dfsg-2+rpi1 [2]):

   * Disable webengine for armhf, we do not currently have (and may never have)
 it in Raspbian.

  -- Peter Michael Green   Sat, 09 Sep 2017 01:01:09

I do not know the reasoning for that change, so adding Peter to CC in hope
he can explain it.

Hi.

qtwebengine built sucessfully but failed to pass the armv7 contamination check,
so was not uploaded. The combination of hellishly long build times, massively
complicated build systems (chromiums build system embedded in qt) which i'm
unfamiliar with and the fact that I have little idea how to properly test
qtwebengine put further detailed investigation of this beyond what I can
reasonablly do.

If someone can fix it so it doesn't show armv7 contamination and/or they can
show that any (remaining) armv7 contamination is a false positive (i.e. it is
gaurded behind runtime checks) then we can work to get a qtwebengine package in
Raspbian.

The raspberry pi foundation have a chromium package but again I don't have the
expertise to turn it into something suitable for Raspbian proper (i.e. no
dependencies on raspberry pi foundation libraries. I also don't know how
similar the plain chromium source is to the embedded chromium in qtwebengine.

I was seeing this problem starting the singularity game too. When it occurs

So it seems that this can happen both in pygame.init and it later pygame

other things don't.

There is an error in how circle collisions are calculated in
pygame.sprite.collide_circle.  It checks whether distance^2 < radius1^2
+ radius2^2, where it should check whether distance^2 < (radius1 +
radius2)^2. The effect is that sometimes clearly colliding rects/radii
are not reported as colliding:

>>> import pygame
>>> class test: pass
...
>>> a, b = test(), test()
>>> a.rect = pygame.Rect
>>> a.rect = pygame.Rect(0,0,10,10)
>>> b.rect = pygame.Rect(8,8,10,10)
>>> pygame.sprite.collide_circle(a,b)
False
>>> c, d = test(), test()
>>> c.rect = pygame.Rect(0,0,10,10)
>>> d.rect = pygame.Rect(8,0,10,10)
>>> c.radius = d.radius = 5
>>> pygame.sprite.collide_circle(c,d)
False

I'm also a little bit worried: this kind of error should be caught by
upstream regression/unit testing; don't pygame developers write tests
for their code before shipping?

 -- Peter Michael Green   Sat, 09 Sep 2017 01:01:09 +

I do not know the reasoning for that change, so adding Peter to CC in hope
he can explain it.

I can still do an upload for Debian stretch, but only if you confirm that it
will be useful for you. See #880080 for my discussion with the Release Team.

[Python-modules-team] Bug#884528: python3-ipykernel: No module named ipykernel_launcher when trying to use python3 kernel on jupyter-notebook

2017-12-16 Thread Édouard WILLISSECK
Package: python3-ipykernel
Version: 4.5.2-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I installed jupyter-notebook and by extension python3-ipykernel.

When I start jupyter-notebook and create a new notebook using Python 3 kernel,
I get the following warnings :

[I 11:45:10.392 NotebookApp] Kernel started:

[I 11:45:19.401 NotebookApp] KernelRestarter: restarting kernel (3/5)

Then it stops with a message saying that the kernel has died.

It works fine for the python 2 kernel though.

Package: jupyter-notebook
Version: 4.2.3-4
Followup-For: Bug #857928

Dear Maintainer,

I am running Debian Stretch and I installed jupter-notebook.

But I have an issue displaying text using MathJax, like LaTeX expression.

It doesn't find the MathJax fonts. I get the following warnings :

referer=http://localhost:/notebooks/TD%205%206%207a%20Corrig%C3%A9.ipynb

I have fonts-mathjax fonts-mathjax-extras libjs-mathjax installed in apt but
jupyter-notebook doesn't look at the right place.

It should be able to find the fonts and display the equations correctly.

to be marked as done.

If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the

Package: python-pisa,python-xhtml2pdf
Severity: serious

Control: found -1 0.2b-1

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

  Selecting previously unselected package python-xhtml2pdf.
  Preparing to unpack .../python-xhtml2pdf_0.2b-1_all.deb ...
  Unpacking python-xhtml2pdf (0.2b-1) ...
  dpkg: error processing archive
/var/cache/apt/archives/python-xhtml2pdf_0.2b-1_all.deb (--unpack):
   trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/xhtml2pdf', which is also in package
python-pisa 3.0.32-4
  dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   /var/cache/apt/archives/python-xhtml2pdf_0.2b-1_all.deb

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  usr/bin/xhtml2pdf
  usr/share/man/man1/xhtml2pdf.1.gz

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

Cheers,

Andreas
