After running 'qmailctl stop'
run 'lsof -i :25' as well

So you found the log files?
Is sendmail removed?

qmailctl stop
nmap localhost
show this,  should be port 25 is running, then stop it.
and start
qmailctl start

tail -f /var/log/qmail/smtp/current
