 Scanning to pnm works.
Has anyone ideas what to do?

I found a similar bug for mandrake for gqcam
 http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3409
Is this a mandrake related Problem (I use mandrake 9.1)? What can do?

Maby your libpng version is not correct?
For my system libpng.so is linked to libpng12.so (Debian sarge)

That is my lib directory:

lrwxrwxrwx1 root root 13 Aug 19 09:31 libpng12.so -
libpng12.so.0*
lrwxrwxrwx1 root root 19 Aug 19 09:27 libpng12.so.0 -
libpng12.so.0.1.2.5*
-rwxr-xr-x1 root root 147704 Feb 18 2003
libpng12.so.0.1.2.5*
lrwxrwxrwx1 root root 11 Aug 19 09:31 libpng.so -
libpng.so.3*
lrwxrwxrwx1 root root 17 Aug 19 09:27 libpng.so.3 -
libpng.so.3.1.2.5*
-rwxr-xr-x1 root root 147704 Feb 18 2003 libpng.so.3.1.2.5*

Should I link libpng.so to libpng12.so istead of libpng.so.3?
Or could I tell iscan to use a special library?

Thanks for your answer!

[sane-devel] Experience with epson perfection 2400

2003-10-22 Thread Florian Reichert
Hello!

As you now I am looking for a fast Scanner for Linux.

I would like to now what your experience with the epson perfection 2400
are.

The following topics are important for me:

How log does the time for a prescan take?

How long does it take to make a 300 dpi scan b/w or color?

How much does this depend on the USB Adaptor (USB 1.1, 2.0)?

What USB 2.0 PCI do you use together with linux?

Thanks for some answers or hints for documntation in advance!

 scanners is real expensive.

Could you tell me where you found that?

 hi all,

i am currently working on a web application which is for entering
contract data. It is also possible to add to each entered contract the
scanned contract (it does already work) - but now i am searching for a
fast usb scanner which is supported by sane (the clients where the data
gets entered are linux thin clients). The scanner only have to scan in
graycolor and with a low resolution (so that the scans keep readable) -
and this as fast as possible (short calibration time/prescan time - and
 scan time).

Have a look for the thread Real Fast Scanner! I started this week on
this mailing list.

I am looking for a similar produkt and found it verry dificult to find

I found many fast and cheap scanners not to be supported by sane (for
example epson perfection 1670).

For windows I found the canon 3200F to be a verry very fast device ( and
less than 100 Euro). But not supported too.

I would be interested If you find any other fast device for sane.

Seems to be difficult to get a supported scanner for less than 150 (or
 max. 200) Euro.

I can't comment on speed or quality, but it's possible to buy scanners
cheaper than 150 Euros that are supported by SANE. Just a quick check
 at www.alternate.de:

 Canon Lide 2059,00
 Canon Lide 3077,00
 Epson Perfection 1260 Photo 94.00
 Mustek Be@rPaw 1200CS66.00
 Mustek Be@rPaw 1200CU+ 64.00

Yes I know that scanners but they seem to be verry slow ones.

So it seems I have to have a look for the epson Perfection 2400 Photo.
This seems to be the only fast scanner for less than 200 Euro.

But any further sugestions will be welcome.

[sane-devel] film scanner

2003-08-23 Thread Florian Reichert
Hello!

I read a lot about Problems with film scanners and linux/sane. So I want to
ask for a supported film scanner with about 1600 or more dpi. Who has any
experienc, wich scanner is supported well?

I had a look in the db, but I don't know, wich are film scanners and wich
not. It seems, that the most known film scanners are not or not well
supported (minolta, nikon ...)

Thanks for help!

 Hello!

I have problems compiling iscan 1.5.2!

 What sources did you download?

 What am I missing?

My system is mandrake 9.1 sane is compiled (Version 1.0.12).

You'll need the gcc-3.x experimental sources. Either the tarball or the
 SRPM.

You are right, I got the wron tarball! I will try the other one tese days.

 Thanks Florian!

 make[1]: Entering directory `/root/iscan-1.5.2/frontend'

Gack!! Am I right in thinking that you build your sources are root in
root's home directory? You're better of building as a normal user and
only switch to root for the installation.

No You are wrong :) The tarball is in root's home directory, but the
compiling is done by a normal user, because my /home was damaged in that
moment. I kno wthat is not verry well done, but I think on a single user
maschine

[sane-devel] Epson Perfection 1260 with the epkowa backend (iscan 1.5.2)

2003-08-04 Thread Florian Reichert
Hello!

I woul like to report the following:

xsane recognices my scanner correctly as plustek scanner and i am able to
use the TPU

But with iscan I can't use the TPU of my 1260 Photo in iscan any more.

Iscan detects the scanner as GT7300, what seems to be wrong.
I also tried 1.4 which was working with my scanner and debian 3.0rc1, and
mandrake 9.0.
Now I am using mandrake 9.1
 recent versions:
xsane 0.90 -2mdk libsane1 1.0.11 -5mdk
sane-backends 1.0.11 -5mdk
kernel 2.4.21
Could it be, that something in sane changed, so that the iscan backend
doen't detect the scanner in a propper way?

 Regards Florian
P.S. Someone mentioned iscan 1.5.3 is out ... but where could I get it? Is
that problem fixed there?

It might not be a question of incorrect detection. If you look at the
source code of Iscan, you'll find that Perfection1260 and GT-7300 seem
to be handeled in exactly the same way every step of the way.

Hmm but was that the same way in 1.4.x? My scanner (and the TPU) worked
with that Version ... Why does 1.4. now don't use the TPU? Thats why I
think it could be because a change in sane and not in iscan ...

1.4. doesn't tell you the name of the scanner it found. So I don't know
wether it was detected as GT7300 as well. May be, that the GT7300 is the
same model with other name as the Perfection 1260, But the 1260 PHOTO
should be a diferent one ...

Now I found Information about GT 7300: http://www.i-love-
epson.co.jp/products/scanner/gt7300u/7300u1.htm but I can't read it. But it
seems to be the same Scanner. But why doesn't the TPU work then?

O.K. So far thank you for any help!
