[sane-devel] Linux support for Scanjet 300 ?

2014-01-12 Thread Huub Van Niekerk
Hi,

Thanks for your reply. After checking the supported list and the seller
catalog, I have chosen to send it back and buy the completely supported scanner
Canon CanoScan LiDE 210. Also read a good review for Linux on that one.

Regards,

H.

[sane-devel] scanjet 4370

2006-09-18 Thread Huub
Hi,

On advise of Bertrik Sikken, I installed the hp3900 backend. At that
time it didn't do anything, but the (new) scanner turned out to be
broken. Despite getting a new one, xsane doesn't recognize any scanner.
However, sane-find-scanner DOES recognize it:

found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [hewlett packard], product=0x4105 [hp
scanjet], chip=RTS8822L-01H) at libusb:003:006

So, what could or should be the next step to using it? (Apart from
getting a real backend for productID 0x4105).

Thanks,

Huub

[sane-devel] Re: back-end Scanjet4370

2006-09-17 Thread Huub
Hi,

Since the idProduct of the 4370 is 0x4105, can a back-end for the
scanner this be added sane? Using xsane for scanning is much faster than
using the HP tools, which I'm forced to use now on Windows.

Thanks,

Huub

[sane-devel] Re: back-end Scanjet4370

2006-09-06 Thread Huub

Bad news: the Scanjet 4370 is rated 'unsupported' due to
 http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/hp-scanjet-4370.html

But there is also mentioed an external backend there that may work.

How may this backend work then? I installed it, but so far neither
sane-find-scanner nor xsane can find a scanner.

[sane-devel] back-end Scanjet4370

2006-09-05 Thread Huub
Hi,

I want to use the Scanjet 4370 on Fedora Core 5, but I find out that
there's no back-end for it yet. Can somebody please tell me when it
could or will be available?

Thanks,

Huub

[sane-devel] Re: back-end Scanjet4370

2006-09-05 Thread Huub

Have you looked in the sane-project.org scanner search engine?
(site seems do be down now)

The model number suggests that it is similar to the ScanJet 4300,
which is supported by the niash backend. It could be that your
scanner is not recognised simply because its USB vendor/product
ID pair is not known to the backend.

Can you post the output of 'sudo lsusb -vv'?

 Regards,
 Bertrik

Wish I could:

$ sudo lsusb -vv
Password:
sudo: lsusb: command not found
$

Tried to install it, but no such luck. Any other suggestion?

I think lsusb is usually part of the usbutils package.

 Otherwise try sane-find-scanner.

 Here's lsusb output in attachment.

Weird, I don't see the scanner in the output.

Using google, I was able to find part of the sane-project.org
pages. The HP4370 is possibly supported by the hp3900 backend
(marked as 'Untested. Please report if it works.')

hp3900 backend page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hp3900-series/

The hp3900 page indicates that the scanner uses a RTS8822 chipset.

There is also another backend for this chipset: hp_rts88xx
http://hp44x0backend.sourceforge.net/

For both backends you will need to be able to compile the sane-backends
sources from scratch. There is no guarantee that it will eventually
work.

Bertrik
