[sane-devel] Canon CanoScan 4400F in genesys-backend

2014-06-18 Thread Ernst Rohlicek jun.
Greetings, I have here a Canon CanoScan 4400F flatbed scanner.

According to the SANE website

  http://sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl?manu=model=4400f

this scaner is GL843-based and could be supported by the SANE
genesys-backend.

I have the genesys-backend installed (Ubuntu 2014.04), but it does not
detect the scanner.

According to the genesys-backend manual page

  http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-genesys.5.html

I should contact the sane-devel mailing list, which I hereby do :-)

My question: What can we do to get this scanner detected and working?
What can I do or provide about this scanner?

The manpage says that I should provide detailed USB output - I have
attached the lsusb -v output.

Let me know what we can do.

Thanks and Greetings,
Ernst Rohlicek

[sane-devel] Canon Canoscan 4400F

2009-04-21 Thread David Kaplan
Shalom!
I also have a Canon Canoscan 4400F scanner that I am very happy with
except that I must boot into XP to use it.
Has there been any progress on adding this scanner?
 Thanks
 Hello all.

I decided to try add my scanner to sane. I'v read the recommendations
about how to do it however they are really rather general.

I have Canon Canoscan 4400F. In the table with supported scanners is at
this type written to be added to genesys backend. I just downloaded the
sources and there some places with defined values for each scanner. So
 far okay.

Then i followed the advices and made some logs about usb traffic in the
windows environment (Snoopy2). There some common parts.. there is always
some bunch of data sending to the device at startup (possibly firmware)
.. there is still some traffic up and down.. some checking and so on...
however is there any advice how to recognize more? O just described
somewhere some process how to test sending bunches of data to the
device via usb? Or should i use another sniffing tool to get better
 readable usb logs?

 Thanks for advices.

i would start by making some logs of some small scans using
http://www.pcausa.com/Utilities/UsbSnoop/default.htm

then put them up on the web somewhere that the genesys backend guys
can see them. if they are under 100K compressed you can send them to
the list.

[sane-devel] Canon CanoScan 4400F

2007-08-17 Thread martin
Hi.
I have found in the mailing lists few month ago signs of work on Canon
CanoScan 4400F. I would like to ask how far is the devel process.
I am a developer but not experienced with the SANE project. Anyway, i
have one piece of this hardware and if i can help e.g. with testing i
would spend some time to get it work. It would be nice to have this
scanner working with SANE.

2007-08-17 Thread René Kjellerup
Hi' Martin,

I guess you mean the CanoScan 4200F. I'll say the development
is going slowly. Lack of the ability to create usb logs has
slowed the process. And time have been scarce over the past 6
months.

However things are looking brighter now with the release of
the VMWare Player 2.0 which has USB 2.0 support. So now I
should be able to create a log and try to mimic it on the same
machine.

Venlig Hilsen/Kind regards
Ren? Kjellerup
