mobile phone text messages

2010-12-14 Thread mamadaisy

Hi there. I
am trying to set up Pidgin to receive text messages from a mobile phone.
I found this in the FAQ:

You may send SMS text msgs to this buddy's mobile device
by right clicking on the buddy and choosing 'Send to Mobile'

I can't get
the 'Send to Mobile'
command to appear, and I can't find where I can enter a phone number as the
buddy's address. Any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Judy

Do you mean to add custom emoticons? Is that even something that the QQ
protocol/official clients support? As to file transfer either pidgin
doesn't believe your friend can receive the file or pidgin doesn't support
qq file transfers at all. Either of those is possible, I don't know what
our QQ ft support status is. Our QQ support is largely (basically
entirely) donated and the maintainers haven't been around in a while as
far as I know.

Messaging A Group

2010-12-14 Thread RICK AYRES
Is there a way to broadcast a message to a group / roster using XMPP? If
not, this would be another very useful feature.

There is a plugin which supports this I believe (in the purple plugin
pack).

Pidgin file transfer

2010-12-14 Thread Ing. Mario Clep [MKE Solutions]
Hi to all...

I've been using pidgin for the last 3 years...
Reciently I had to format my laptop and installed Windows XP again, with the
last version of pidgin (2.7.7). From that moment, file transfers never
begin... Does this version have a bug or something like this, or maybe the
problem lies somewhere else?

Regards and thanks in advance

 Hi,

I just found out about Pidgin and installed the client. I like it very much
but there is one very annoying problem. When I use a full screen application
(a game, an installer wizard, etc.) Pidgin logs off. If I alt-tab out of the
app, Pidgin logs back in. It's very annoying. Can anyone help? I'm using
 Windows 7 x86, Pidgin 2.7.7 , plugins active : MusicTracker, Skype,
FullScreen Busy, Log Reader, Release Notification, Windows Pidgin Options.
 Can anyone help?

I would guess that one of your plugins is doing it, presumably the
FullScreen Busy plugin.

Mobile buddies not showing in Window 7

2010-12-14 Thread tpamasseur
I'm using Pidgin 2.7.7 on a desktop with Windows XP and everything seems to be
fine. However, I installed Pidgin 2.7.7 on my netbook with Windows 7 and my
buddies that are connected with their mobile devices are not showing up in my
buddy list. How can I get my mobile buddies to show up on my netbook with
Windows 7. Is there some setting that I should have selected?

Thank you for your assistance. I did a complete reinstall and removed
all plugins and now it's stable again. I'll have to be more careful in
the future I guess. I was hoping anyone knew of any particularily
menacing plugins.

Which services are you using? What service is associated with the
mobile devices?

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
