You emailed support@pidgin.im which is a peer support mailing list for Pidgin
which has volunteers as subscribers. I (= shlo...@shlomifish.org) happen to be
one of the people subscribed there, but I'm not the only one subscribed there

You can either uninstall the official ICQ client, or you can keep it installed
on the computer and prevent it from running by default (I have no idea how to
do that though).
