@Jennifer, XMPP is normal in this case. Your may have something blocking your connection. Can you try this: 1. Accounts, Manage Accounts 2. Modify 3. Advanced 4. Change Connect Port to 80 5. Save 6. Uncheck it and recheck the checkbox This has helped me in the past when having problems connecting to Google Talk behind a firewall or proxy. -Tres - tres.finocchi...@gmail.com On Thu, Jan 9, 2014 at 11:50 AM, Shlomi Fish shlo...@shlomifish.org wrote: Hello Jennifer, you sent the E-mail only to me (despite the fact that I instructed you to reply to all recipients). You will need to choose an instant message service that permits business use. This may involve, say, installing an XMPP server on you system. The question suggests you may not really understand the nature of Pidgin. There is one protocol, Bonjour, that is really peer to peer. I'm not sure if it requires a single broadcast area. I suspect most people who use Bonjour are already familiar with it from their use of it with Apple software. please let me know the entire steps Generally, with free software, you need to pay for consultancy if you want that level of detail and it is not already in the available documentation (which may or may not be the case). In the case of community supported software, like Pidgin, the organisation that created the software is simply not structured to be able to do paid work, although some of the individuals involved, may be able to offer such services. -- David Woolley Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want. Pidgin Help/Question
I'm rather new to Pidgin, but I use it extensively as of late because it takes up much less space than MSN and other clients. But I use multiple accounts, and on each account I tend to have a different text colour. With Pidgin, this means I have to reset my colour each time a new chat window opens, going through the wheel and finding it again. Is there any way (or maybe a plugin?) that I can have a colour for each account individually? ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? I would suggest locking your workstation whenever you are not at it. Alternatively, if this is a shared workstation, I would suggest you log out of the workstation when you are not using it. This is minimum security controls for most organizations. Last, if your workstation is shared and you have no choice but to share it with Pidgin installed, uncheck the store password option in you account preferences so that you can exit Pidgin when you are not using it. -Tres On Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 4:44 PM, Carol Mendoza sesiserv...@hotmail.comwrote: How can I password protect my pidgin mod so when someone else sits at my desk they can't IM as me an start trouble?
