While LinuxMint is supported by the Pidgin PPA, you are running version 17,

If this is an old version of LinuxMint, it's probably reached its
end-of-life. If it's a new version, please use the support@pidgin.im

 Please advise.

 Thank you.

As a lot of questions on this list are from Oracle employees having problems
accessing Oracle's internal , XMPP based, instant messaging system, could you
first confirm that you are really intending to access AOL's AIM service for
personal use? (Questions about the Oracle system should be directed to
Oracle's IT people.)

My first guess would be that the office firewall doesn't permit access to AIM.
However:

Are you able to access AIM using AOL's official AIM client, from the same
machine?

Are you using Pidgin 2.10.4?

What messages appear in the debug window?

Which OS are you using?

Are you connecting to the internet:

- from a home broadband connection;
- from a mobile phone (many mobile companies block instant messaging);
- from a machine on the company network (many companies block instant messaging
for security or time wasting reasons).

 Can you please assist?

I have tried several time to download the pidgin again... but without

They are almost certainly using Pidgin to connect to the Oracle
internal servers, not to AIM. You need to talk to Oracle IT, and have
them set your Pidgin up for AIM. We are not going to be able to help
with this.

This is not a Pidgin question, it is something that has to be done on
the server.

I'm not sure you can actually renew a certificate and have it treated as
the same trusted one, but even if you can, you shouldn't as one of the
reasons for giving finite lives to certificates is the longer they are
in use the more chance that someone will have cracked the key. You
should create a new certificate (and distribute it, or at least its key
fingerprint, by secure means that don't rely on the certificate).

the CA or the certificate. If possible, how can I renew the cert via
Open Fire Management Console v3.4.2. thanks!

I am pretty sure that Open Fire Management Console has nothing to do
with Pidgin.

It is worth pointing out that we don't always know what the message limit

users on the same protocol).

You may be less upset to know that Ctrl+up will retrieve the

You need to upgrade Pidgin. The current version is 2.7.9. The first
work round for this change by Microsoft was in 2.7.7.

It looks like you've somehow messed up the installed GTK+ runtime

You can try downloading and reinstalling the standalone GTK+ installer
