Re: [Bug 288478] Re: Ownership of /etc/sasl2db precludes direct access by Cyrus IMAP
Hi, Im not sure that will help as the permissions of the installed sasldb are root.root with no acl on it. Perhaps the issue is two-fold, the cyrus-common-2.2 install (which I think creates the user) should include the sasl group permission for the cyrus user, and cyrus-sasl2 should correct the group access on the /etc/sasldb2 file to be root.sasl ? Is it expected that all access will go through saslauthd? I used to run this but changed to having the imap service access the sasldb directly which saves memory etc as there is no need for me to run the saslauthd service at all. Or does this come under one of those cross-package configuration issues that are basically resolved by hand? Cheers, Barry Scott Kitterman wrote: Adding cyrus to the sasl group should also solve it. Would someone be willing to undergo this process if I provide the 8.0.13 source package (for the drbd8-utils package)? The source in the kernel would have to be patched by someone else. [Bug 288616] [NEW] Tomcat 6 fails to start during install
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tomcat6 In some cases Tomcat 6 fails to successfully start *during install*. This doesn't prevent the installation from succeeding and you can still run sudo service tomcat6 start to start it once it is installed. If a JRE is not completely configured by the time Tomcat is started, Tomcat will fail to start. This can happen in some installation scenarios as Tomcat 6 doesn't formally pre-depend on a JRE. In re-reading this bug-report, I can see there are many issues that appear to affect this bug and the NTP server restarting several times during boot appears to be related to the several ways in which it's started. While not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, the aim was to get to a point after boot at which time ntpdate had succesfully run and NTP - if installed - was running. From your report, this does not appear to be the case. ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu Hardy) Status: New = Incomplete -- ntp brought up before network is ready; fails not resolve any ip or host names; ntp does not recover https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114505 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a bug assignee. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 211631] Re: CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down
I tested the commands, Thierry, and there was no difference. I didn't really hold out a lot of hope, though, because I don't run the WPA supplicant. Everything works perfectly when I umount the CIFS filesystems before shutting down. I also found that Suspend and Hibernate modes work better too (as an aside). Strange, umountnfs.sh (I double checked it for cifs) runs before networking so of course one would have to think everything would be okay. Does the logging off of the Gnome session, ending the Network Manager in the notification area, have something to do with it? I wonder what would happen if the networking was all static startup/shudown entries and network manager was never run (or even uninstalled). -- CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 114505] Re: ntp brought up before network is ready; fails not resolve any ip or host names; ntp does not recover
Hi, All fresh installs. ntp installed POST installation via apt-get. Ubuntu Server 8.04.1 Kubuntu Desktop 8.04.1 KDE4 Remix. Mixture of DHCP and static IP. - As an example the desktop I am email from had 4 network interfaces. 2 static IP and 2 DHCP all specified under /etc/network/interfaces. 2 static both cabled, gateway specified on one of them. 2 marked as DHCP not connected. Only eth0 and eth1 marked as auto. This typical of 5 server installs and 3 desktop installs which are all have this issue. The machine it *does* work is a laptop with eth0 (DHCP not connected) and ath0 (WPA wireless managed by knetworkmanager). This seems to always come up OK. But that is probably because the wireless network comes up under ifup post-login and the ifup scripts are probably doing their job. I cannot remember if it works properly under a cabled eth0 with DHCP as I always use the wireless on the laptop. Hope this helps, Barry Onno Benschop wrote: The machines that you are having issues with, were they fresh hardy installs, upgrades, or a mixture? How are their network interfaces managed? [Bug 287551] Re: 8.04 - 8.10 removes language-pack-en-base / language-pack-fi-base during cleanup
The removal happens because the dependencies in language-support-fi changed from recommending language-pack-fi to suggesting language- pack-fi. This makes the apt thinks its a automatic installed package that is no longer needed. This is a general problem with all langpacks. ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged Target: None = ubuntu-8.10 -- 8.04 - 8.10 removes language-pack-en-base / language-pack-fi-base during cleanup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287551 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 268692] Re: [intrepid] Please update kadu to version 0.6.0.2
Hi, I'm a maintainer of Kadu in Debian and upstream author of some of Kadu's plugins. 0.6.0 is a stable and frozen branch of Kadu, which means no new features get there, only bugfixes are allowed. As for my job on Kadu: one of the plugins in 0.6.0.1, which I wrote , namely miastoplusa_sms, is completely unusable when linked with libcurl3-gnutls (works fine with libcurl3-openssl, though, but can't be linked with it due to GPL -- OpenSSL license incompatibility). I fixed it in 0.6.0.2-2 in Debian by forcing SSLv3 mode, namely: curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_SSLVERSION, CURL_SSLVERSION_SSLv3); It Kadu won't get synced, this plugin will not be functional at all (because of a problem with libcurl linked with gnutls). -- [intrepid] Please update kadu to version 0.6.0.2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 288631] [NEW] Fn keyboard shortcuts don't work on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727
Public bug reported: the Fn special keys to control brightness and, crucially, wifi on/off don't work on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727. This is a budget notebook computer. This is a show-stopper because it means the Li 2727 is unable to go online. On each boot-up, the wifi must be manually turned on using Fn+F1 (even in Windows). There is no way to permanently turn it on in the BIOS. FWIW this is a serious hardware issue that's a source of annoyance for all Li 2727 users but there's no sign of a fix from Fujitsu Siemens. Brightness can be controlled using the relevant Gnome applet. But one useful feature, of switching the fan to quiet mode, is also inaccessible. This is one reason why I bought this notebook. A fix for the wifi problem can be found here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=644899 ... but it's very outdated and doesn't appear to work any longer on Ubuntu 8.10 (at least I couldn't get it to work although I skipped the requirement to compile a new madwifi module). ** Affects: acerhk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Fn keyboard shortcuts don't work on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have sold the laptop in the meantime, and the only file of potential relevance that I have backed up would be the xorg.conf. lspci should be identical to the one given here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=685030 with the graphics card listed as: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600] -- fglrx xterm text corruption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130614 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 280931] Re: Tray retracts automatically after eject with 2.6.27-6 and -7
I confirm this bug happens here using Ubuntu RC of 8.10 Internal Sony 'rom on a Pentium 4 2.66 - a 4-year old box - the 'rom works fine in XP (I dual boot XP as main system and Ubuntu as a testing install). I filed a separate bug relating to issues with inserting a cd into the drive too, here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dbus/+bug/288584 not sure if there is a common element ? -- Tray retracts automatically after eject with 2.6.27-6 and -7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
