[Bug 481412] [NEW] Pictures Folder screensaver should be more dynamic
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver If the Pictures Folder screensaver is selected, an endless loop of images appear in exactly the same way: centered and resized, while keeping the original aspect ratio. The background, in case the images don't fit the screen, is a constant black. Furthermore, the fading animation seems a tad too fast. It would be nice to have a slightly more complex pictures screensaver. For example, images could appear inside a subtle frame. Additionally, a random number generator could be used to display either 1 or 2 pictures at the same time. Two images would appear in opposite corners, and one of them could have a small rotation. As a background, one could use a matte tiled pattern, or something resembling a photo book, or a papyrus. I'll try to supply a mockup. There's also a possibility of F-spot themed integration: if ratings are easily retrievable, there could be one main big image (chosen amongst the best rated, with some key word) and put a small picture (same folder, with a lower ranking) on a corner, in a stamp like fashion. This could have another name, instead of Pictures Folders, it could be named Photo Showroom. Furthermore, and following gnome interface guidelines, no configuration should be needed: the current values for transition are OK, although a slower fading could be nice. BTW: This is inspired by the Windows Live Photo Gallery screensaver. Once you have a decent collection of photos, looking at the screensaver with pictures of your girlfriend or holidays can be highly addictive. This is clearly a wishlist, although I'm not sure I should directly mark it so in the bug description. [Bug 409575] Re: told ubiquity to install grub to sda6, but it breaks grub on mbr
Another Update! old post 2: I will try a manually install to external usb disk and see if it still breaks the mbr of the internal disk... keep ya updated! I did it and just finished 2 test installs on a external memory-stick. One affected the mbr on my internal /dev/sda the other install did nothing to the mbr on /dev/sda. I found out why! swap partition: My internal first harddisk /dev/sda also contains a swap partition, during install of ubuntu to external memory stick /dev/sdf, it also selects the swap partition on my internal harddisk for swap. As this is automatically done during the manual partitioning of the installation, I consider this as another serious BUG! because I never asked for it! When I manually deselect the swap volume on /dev/sda and continue installation and manually select the mbr/grub install for /dev/sdf everything works. Booting from internal hd still works and booting from external memory stick after deselecting the swap on /dev/sda! last and I will try one install with automatic partitioning just to the external memory stick for the last test, If that one also screws the mbr on my internal disc than there is a serious bug somewhere -- told ubiquity to install grub to sda6, but it breaks grub on mbr https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/409575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 438136] Re: palimpsest bad sectors false positive
Hello, I update my Ubuntu daily (Karmic Koala 9.10, AMD64 / EXT-4 Filesystem). A couple of days ago I noticed that Palimpsest changed Health Status from OK to Unknown. S.M.A.R.T. Status was OK, but also changed to unknown as did Overall Assessment. I ran a extended self-test but nothing changes though the harddisk is definately okay. Also did a complete removal of gnome-disk-utility, rebooted and reinstalled it without succes. I booted with Ultimate Boot- CD and did complete harddisk-diagnostic (including a mechanical check, electronics test and a full-sector check) with software provided by the manufacturer of my harddrive. Everything is OK, including S.M.A.R.T., so it must be a software bug of some kind. My harddrive is a Samsung HM160HC, IDE, 5400 RPM, 2,5 (notebook) and is about 5 months old. -- palimpsest bad sectors false positive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 410407] Re: [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations
My only problem with Ubuntu 9.10 Flash is that it's ignoring clicks to change preferences. Seems different from these problems. However, there are problems with the list at the top of the page: WORKAROUND 1: Disable compiz * Don't know how to do that. man compiz gives no hints. Comments suggest SystemPreferencesAppearanceVisual Effects=None. Oddly, none of the radio buttons were set (maybe due to upgrade to 9.10?). Set to None.. no change. WORKAROUND 2: Remove flashplugin-nonfree / flashplugin-installer and install from adobe * I'll consider that, but comments indicate that is experimental. Maybe that status should be mentioned. WORKAROUND 3: Open a terminal and enter: gksudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer * No such directory in Ubuntu 9.10. -- [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 481367] Re: Pulseaudio Connection Refused for chipset intel 82801G
Please describe your configuration -- are you attempting to use PulseAudio in system-wide daemon mode (not the default in Ubuntu, not recommended by upstream, user is assumed to be knowledgeable about troubleshooting, etc.) or in the default per-user GNOME session mode? Please note that your /etc/asound.conf and ~/.asoundrc* are all obsolete -- the pulseaudio package already ships an equivalent alsa-lib conffile (and has done so since Ubuntu 8.10) -- so please remove them. -- Pulseaudio Connection Refused for chipset intel 82801G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/481367 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 480651] Re: Can't install or reinstall mtools, plasma-scriptengine-python etc.
Thanks for your bugreport. Could you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ to this bugreport? The exec format errors looks odd, could you please run a memory and filesystem test on this machine? Thanks, Michael ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Can't install or reinstall mtools, plasma-scriptengine-python etc. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480651 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
