OK, see above: Note, I have tried also: sudo pulseaudio --system So I have tried running in user mode (open terminal: pulseaudio -D) to generate the pulse.log I attached. I have also ran: sudo pulseaudio --system , which generates the same log files. Noted: I will remove the /etc/asound.conf file and ~/.asoundrc* as you recommend. [Bug 479375] Re: Audio stutters and glitches (Karmic, Intel HDA ICH8)
Uff, wow, that was harder than necessary, trying to add an apport report to this bug. apport-collect didn't do more than the above comment and then aborted. And I first had to find out that I have to update apport from ubuntu-updates to fix a bug with the apport-cli offline mode in Jaunty. But here finally the report from running the Ubuntu 9.04 32bit desktop live-cd. The sound works out of the box without glitches. So perhaps we can find some pointers from the difference of how the card is recognized / set up in Jaunty as compared to Karmic. In hope things can advance a bit now... You get what you pay for!, You could have got a Dell man!, Windows 7 works better than this and so does Vista!, Apple Rules! You then bury your head into your hands, pat the sweat off of your forehead with a folded napking, adjust your tie swallow hard and ask for a computer that is working... You are demoted, thrown to the street and in a deep dark corner of an alley you have your netbook plugged into an extension cord for christmas lights... You get an email for a job recurter and you respond with your resume you typed in Open Office that the recurtire can not read with MS Word so you are passed up for the job.. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
