I really think this is a gssd bug: the NFS folks have have multiple years to implement something stronger than DES. Unlike with OpenAFS, the protocol has been quite clear; it's purely a matter of writing code. The work around Russ suggests is the right user-level fix. My comments are more intended to address what the focus should be for the distributions in terms of fixing this. We're adding an API to krb5 to fix this for OpenAFS. I found that amarok works for a user and doesn't work for another, so I made some testing: - Create a new user - Amarok works On user that was crashing - remove amarok cofig files - nothing changes - remove .kde folder - nothing changes - remove .xine folder - Amarok works again... So it must be a xine related problem but then, after running amarok, restoring the old .xine folder, doesn't crash anymore. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission This has happened to a couple of my torrents, for example I had a torrent about 97% finished, well something crashed in Transmission so when I restarted the program it wants to verify local data... which is fine except when it's finished verifying this file that was 97% finished now it says there is zero% finished and wants to download the whole thing over again... But all my files are there. The torrent is Bob Marley - Complete Discography From 1967 To 2002 [33 Full Albums] (Mp3 256Kbps) in location of: /home/(username)/Downloads/ The files are almost finished (were), and are still there just fine. I even tried using Set Location in Transmission and it was set to my username, so I changed it to Downloads folder, and selected the option Local Data Is Already There and it does the Verifying local data, only to think it's not there... what the fuck? It IS there. Same thing with two other torrents, except they were 100% finished and jumped down to 30% finished mysteriously, and 67% for the other. As for your bug, I think we are looking at a problem with the mirror server that your computer is attempting to download from. Could you please go to System - Administration - Software Sources. Once the window opens up, you should find the Ubuntu Software tab selected. One of the options is a drop-down menu next to Download from: If you click on that drop-down menu, you will find the option of Other... Could you please select Other... and choose a different server that is located relatively close to your location? Afterwards, you can close that window. You should then open a terminal and run 'sudo apt-get update' (without the quotation marks) so your computer will get the information it needs from those servers. After that, could you try once more to download the gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad package? Hopefully the download will be successful. If it is, then you can either choose to return the Software Sources settings to their default, or you can leave them changed, it doesn't matter. If it does not work, then please try one or two more servers, just in case you happened to choose the server your computer was already trying to download from. After you have tried the above solution, please leave a comment letting us know whether or not it worked so we know if we can close this report or if we must investigate it further. Public bug reported: I am unable to install the NVIDIA .run driver in the Lucid alpha because it reports that /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h is missing. I have tried the following methods towards installing the NVIDIA driver to no avail: 1. installing the nvidia-* packages after installing these packages, the driver doesn't appear in jockey- gtk. 2. installing the .run package the installer throws an error about the missing version.h. I have installed the following packages: linux-source - Linux kernel source with Ubuntu patches linux-source-2.6.32 - Linux kernel source for version 2.6.32 with Ubuntu patches linux-headers-2.6.32-11 - Header files related to Linux kernel version 2.6.32 linux-headers-generic - Generic Linux kernel headers linux-headers-2.6.32-11-generic - Linux kernel headers for version 2.6.32 on x86/x86_64 After this, there is a new file in /usr/src/ called linux- source-2.6.32.tar.bz2. I extract it, which creates a directory called linux-source-2.6.32. The driver installer needs it in a location /usr/src/linux/, so I rename the directory /usr/src/linux/. However, though there is a folder /usr/src/linux/include/linux/, which is meant to contain the version.h, there is no version.h to be seen. It was possible to install the .run package in Karmic; however it isn't possible anymore in Lucid. In my case this bug only occurs when my Thinkpad R51 is undocked. When my Thinkpad R51 is docked in a ThinkPad Dock II the bug does not occur. The ThinkPad Dock II contains an additional 320 GB hdd. Since that bug was said to have been fixed before, than this new one is opened because these symptoms occur again in Karmic. In essence, When both Ubufox (Ubuntu Firefox modifications) and Tab Mix Plus are enabled, some buttons/icons disappear from the toolbar. When either of these extensions are disabled, the buttons reappear. [Bug 511844] [NEW] Wacom Tablet is only recognized on first plug
Public bug reported: 1) I'm using Ubuntu Lucid 2) xserver-xorg-input-wacom - 0.10.3+20100109-1ubuntu1 3) I expected hotplugging to work properly on more than one plug. 4) It appears that hotplugging only works on the first plug. The tablet works properly as expected during this session, however if I unplug and plug the tablet in again it will not work any longer. After the first plugging in (and unplugging) of my tablet no more information about it is added to my Xorg log. My copy of Lucid has all updates applied as of this posting, no non- standard kernel or X-related packages are installed (no ppas or other repos that would affect this), and the tablet is a Wacom Intuos 2.
