A qemu bug seems possible, but unlikely. I have other kernels and initrd gzipped cpio archivies that are very similar and run fine with qemu versatile. The only difference here is the cpu is cortex-a8 but this doesn't seem related to initrd processing. I also took the initrd.gz and extracted it with gunzip and cpio and took the filesystem data and put the same data into an ext4 filesystem as described by https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RootfsFromScratch/QemuDebootstrap then I could boot the kernel and filesystem just fine using: qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -cpu cortex-a8 -m 256 -kernel vmlinuz -hda rootfs.img -nographic -append rootwait root=/dev/sda console=ttyAMA0,115200 init=/bin/sh rw Since this boots fine there is nothing wrong with the filsystem information itself. qemu loader and ramdisk size don't seem related. The initrd is loaded by qemu after the kernel at 0x80 so if there is any corruption the initrd file would overwrite the kernel, not the other way around. Linux version 2.6.31-20-generic (bui...@crested) (gcc version 4.4.1 (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu8) ) I use my laptop in many different environments accessing NTFS shares on servers and workstations as well as a home CoolNAS (bare embedded solaris NAS with 250GB internal drive) Initial access to the mount without the noserverinfo option resulted in a blank window but subfolders could be accessed, if known. Here's what i can do for you: As mentioned above i put a line /etc/init.d/autofs start into /etc/rc.local but this did not work anymore since some updates last week, so I put a echo 'ifconfig` /tmp/bla.txt infront of that line and i saw from that that the ethernet interface did not have an ip-address at that time, of course the ldap communication then does not work so good... As I haven't concerned myself with upstart yet I cannot tell how to solve this properly, however I have a quick and dirty solution to this, I put the following line into /etc/rc.local; (while [ ! -f /var/run/autofs/_home.pid ]; do /etc/init.d/autofs start; sleep 10; done) As you can see this while-loop tests if the pid-file for autofs exists and if not it keeps trying to start it in 10 seconds steps. The reason for this FFE are the following: - Debian will be moving to 5.0 for Lucid - 3.0 is ancient and it will probably EOL during Lucid's lifecycle. - Easier to maintain from the developer perspective. I understand bacula 5 is a big jump from bacula 3 but it is explained as the following: You might be wondering why this release jumps from 3.0.x to 5.0.0 thus skipping version 4.0.0. We have done this for several reasons: first, we wanted a way of distinguishing the numbering system for the Bacula System Enterprise version and the Bacula Project version. So, to do so, we have decided that the first number of the Bacula Project version will always be odd, and the first number of the Enterprise version will always be even. Thus the Bacula Project now moves from 3.0.x to 5.0.x. In addition, we want to keep the Bacula Project version larger than the Enterprise version to indicate that the Bacula Project version is more advanced or has more features than the Enterprise version. For memory, the current Enterprise version is 2.6.1, and the next release (in a few months -- before June 2010) will be version 4.0.0 I have attached the debdiff, the buildlog and the changelog for your review. I have reformatted a machine with Lucid Alpha 3 to install Chuck Short's test package onto. This machine is i386 rather than amd64, though. When I looked earlier, I thought I only saw amd64 supported by his PPA build, but when I looked just now it seems like i386 support is also there?
