[Bug 641001] Re: cacrl should be use instead of hostcrl when generating apache2 passenger configuration
Mathias, can you please check this source package very carefully? It replaces debian/patches/debian-changes-2.6.1-0ubuntu1 withdebian/patches /debian-changes-2.6.1-0ubuntu2, and this patch looks like it would be the delta betwen 2.6.1rc4 and 2.6.1 final. This looks strange, as if something went wrong at uupdate time. The debian-changes* patches are actually the same, so I'll approve the new upload for this bug fix, but this might still be unintended here. -- cacrl should be use instead of hostcrl when generating apache2 passenger configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Looks like you manually removed (or moved) the /etc/apache2/mods- available/reqtimeout.load file. This is supposed to be handled through a2enmod. Recreating that file (or purging and reinstalling apache2) should work around this error. While there's many solutions now to shutdown VM's, here's my 2 cents. Instead of a libvirt-bin.conf script, I made a separate script (/usr/local/sbin/shutdown-libvirt-hosts.sh). This script waits 120 seconds for all VM's to shut down. A few remarks: - shutting down the VM's twice is not a problem; to the VM, it just looks like pressing the power button twice. - to gracefully shut down, the VM's need the acpid package installed. - if the shutdown script searches for the word running (like mine does, but John Morrissey's script is affected, too), it must set LANG=C at the top, otherwise virsh will run in the local language. ** Attachment added: shutdown-libvirt-hosts.sh https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kvm/+bug/350936/+attachment/1621772/+files/shutdown-libvirt-hosts.sh -- Should shut down domains on system shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 645061] Re: apparmor blocks freshclam process info after latest update
Confirmed on Lucid with (not yet) backported clamav 0.96.3 from clamav- ppa. Seems like this is some new feature in 0.96.3 where freshclam (and indeed clamav-daemon too) does some checking in /proc/self and also /proc/filesystems. Attached some syslog entries which appear exactly after freshclam is done downloading .cvd files (virus definition databases). The warnings seem to go away when adding the following line to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.freshclam: /proc/** r, This doesn't seem to be a bug in clamav but a too restrictive apparmor profile. ** Attachment added: clam-apparmor-log.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clamav/+bug/645061/+attachment/1622307/+files/clam-apparmor-log.txt -- apparmor blocks freshclam process info after latest update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to clamav in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 645061] Re: apparmor blocks freshclam process info after latest update
According to upstream, this is for selinux and pax detection. This permission problem doesn't affect anything, except for apparmor logs since we have neither and they wouldn't co-exist with apparmor if a user had switched to them. The detection process opens /proc/pid/status and if it can't be opened, it assumes no pax. Then it opens /proc/filesystems and if it can't open it then it tries /proc/selinux/enforce and if that can't be opened either it assumes no selinux. I suspect it's probably better to allow these checks because other people will see this in their logs and file bugs. Additionally, I don't like the idea of leaving a profile in place that interferes with upstream functionality even though it happens to produce the same result at the moment. ** Changed in: clamav (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.10 -- apparmor blocks freshclam process info after latest update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to clamav in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 621509] Re: mysqld randomly causes system to not respond to commands
Luke, thanks for keeping us up to date! While your configuration is a little bit weird, it still sounds like there may be a legitimate bug in mysql, as it should not be able to cause such a huge problem for the system. That said, I would suspect that cacti needs to *not* run two of its collectors at a time, and you may be running into some kind of deadlock where one cacti thread is waiting for a lock that the other one has while waiting for a lock that another has that is waiting for the first. Beacause of the introduction of spine, and the lack of ability to reproduce it reliably, I'm going to go ahead and close this as Invalid. Please do open a new bug if you continue to have issues on 10.04, and good luck with your migration! ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- mysqld randomly causes system to not respond to commands https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621509 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-5.1 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 644632] Re: nssldap-update-ignoreusers needs to be configurable to ignore users
OK, so rolling around some ideas on how to handle this. One simple way, one somewhat complex, but kind of neat, way. Method 1: Use a config file for nssldap-update-ignoreusers. Probably /etc/default/nssldap-update-ignoreusers. Have a single line something like: nss_initgroups_okusers=user1,user2,user3,etc. If a user was in that list, nssldap-update-ignoreusers would not include the user in the nss_initgroups_ignoreuses line when it updates the ldap.conf file. Method 2: Create a new system-level group named something like nss_okusers. Then, if a user was a member of that group, nssldap-update-ignoreusers would not include the user in the nss_initgroups_ignoreuses line when it updates the ldap.conf file. But that's abusing groups for system configuration, which I'm not sure is the best idea. Comments? Questions? We're talking about five lines at most of shell code. I believe it would be a worthwhile addition to nssldap-update-ignoreusers. I might just work it up and attach a patch. :) -- nssldap-update-ignoreusers needs to be configurable to ignore users https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 628055] Re: Instances don't start correctly: Security Labeling error running aa_change_profile()
Turns out this was a missing #include in virt-aa-helper.c. In previous releases we did not need '#include sys/stat.h', but in libvirt 0.8.3 (presumably because of its embedded gnulib, which has functions for stat()) and the toolchain in maverick, we do. Specifically, virt-aa-helper.c has in its buildlog: security/virt-aa-helper.c: In function 'valid_path': security/virt-aa-helper.c:541: warning: implicit declaration of function 'stat' [-Wimplicit-function-declaration] security/virt-aa-helper.c:541: warning: nested extern declaration of 'stat' [-Wnested-externs] Adding '#include sys/stat.h' to virt-aa-helper.c fixes both the warning and the problem. [Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su and sudo
My bug 509734 was marked as a duplicate of this one. This was a special case using the atd job scheduler. At jobs launched by ldap users worked, but at jobs launched by root did *not* work. atd was doing a group lookup, and nss was dropping privileges, thus breaking root-launched at jobs. To work around this, I added the following line to my /etc/ldap.conf: nss_initgroups_ignoreusers users where users is the list of local non-ldap users, particularly root! There is a script that is part of nss-ldap that does this for you: /usr/sbin/nssldap-update-ignoreusers Atd is finally working for me now. -- NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su and sudo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Yes, I think your network-manager is a left-over from your Karmic days -- you installed it from an external repository (probably a PPA), but... * it has a greater version than current Lucid * it is most probably not compatible with Lucid This goes with the territory, when using non-official repositories. One final way to be sure is to run 'apt-cache' against it: apt-cache policy network-manager And you should see no repositories set for it. The best you can do is downgrade it to current lucid. It should be easy, but I have no idea of what else you have still from Karmic. -- Recent update broke dhcp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 644538] Re: package postfix 2.7.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75
How do I reinstall my system without loosing all my html work I've done in the past and my 1 tb of photos? On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 4:39 AM, Thierry Carrez thierry.car...@ubuntu.comwrote: Error is: newaliases: fatal: /etc/mailname/: cannot open file: No such file or directory You replaced /etc/aliases by the package maintainer version, overriding local changes. You might want to edit that file again to reflect your configuration. That said, if, like mentioned in bug 644534, there was a security breach, I'd advise to completely reinstall the system. ** Changed in: postfix (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: postfix (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- package postfix 2.7.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644538 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug.
