Hi, I also encountered that problem: I'm running Maverik Merkat 10.10: Same message operation failed: failed to retrieve chardev info in qemu with 'info chardev' I played around like when you have a physical machine, that won't work: You remove piece by piece until it boots to figure out the faulty hardware: So I figured out, that when I reduce the used physical memory from 3072 MB RAM to 2048 the machine booted again. Remains the question: why did it work before with 3072MB and suddenly it stoops. BTW: I have 12GB physical memory in my server as well as 12 CPU Cores which gives me 24 threads. I had this problem before, and then usually a reboot of the machine did it also, of course, I can't reboot a host that runs 4 productive machines during business hours... What I'm curious about: The error message says error to retrieve chardev info... which console command could I use to directly check for info chardev? I think this is a mayor issue, as else kvm/libvirt or what ever else is responsible to cause that, is not to be run in productive environments. For me I switched from vmware-server to kvm to use pure open source... but I'm already thinking on going back as these issues, as well as still sometimes guests looses their network while still showing an up-state link within the guest - and so far there is no solution for that either. I have tested the fix attached to the Samba bug on my Ubuntu Lucid server, and this fixed the problem - ntlm_auth now works correctly. I've posted a comment on Samba bugzilla, confirming that the patch fixes this issue. When i'm connecting to my vsftpd server, with the tool kio-ftps (used in Dolphin) and the command ftps://n...@domain.com, grows the memory usage (1 or 2 MB/s). If I stop the vsftpd server, the memory usage will fall. I think this is a problem of wrong login. The kio-ftps tool hasn't asked for a password. In the Logs there are up to 14 connects per second. One other thing. You missed the change of the libradiusclient-ng-dev to libradius1-dev, as mentioned in the changelog. I fixed it, and am about to upload the merge, but please check that your diff has the fixes documented in the changelog in the future, and vise versa. Attached is a patch to the lupin-support package which should prevent grub-install.real from being used on wubi systems where wubi was installed to a disk other than C: . Instead on upgrades users with such a configuration will be warned that grub failed to install. This is not a complete fix, and users with such a config will still eventually run into problems booting *Ubuntu* due to the core.img and modules never being updated to match incompatible updates to their grub.cfg . But their mbr won't be overwritten with a broken grub install, so they won't be prevented from booting Windows. Hi Wouter, I think that with the new name-based exports and the 10809 port, we'll need to change the pxelinux.cfg/default file provided by LTSP anyway, so I'm not sure that supporting colons will be necessary, maybe we can just switch to the commas syntax in LTSP. So I think this feature request should be postponed until nbd 2.9.18 or later lands in Debian Ubuntu and until LTSP is updated to support the new name-based exports. I agree with that. It'd be better to fix it in LibreOffice. Note: LibreOffice does have a project on launchpad, called df- libreoffice. TDF is indeed working on the project, but maybe if we really want this fixed, we should send them a note about this as a feature request, and see if it's possible, and if not, make an U-specific patch. This would be good because it's still not clear when they'll have a release, and they won't do anything for us in the freeze period, and the fix most probably won't make it into Natty if we ask them after the release (which could be included in Natty) So the questions are: 1) Is the fact that LibreOffice will be the default in Natty, already 'official'? 2) Do people agree that for consistency, the default office productivity suite should have the same redo shortcut as other applications? I agree with marking it as invalid in OO.o, but it depends on the feedback on the second question whether it should be marked invalid in the Papercuts Project or not.
