[Bug 684127] Re: virsh adds automatically type='raw' to a disk session
Thanks for the information you provided in you last update. The behavior you describe is the default behavior for libvirt/qemu on Maverick. Disk probing is disabled by default so libvirt will not attempt to determine what format the underlying disk is actually in and defaults to raw (I've had this issue myself). This can be re-enabled (see allow_disk_format_probing in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf) but disk probing is considered a potential security vulnerability so I would not recommend this course of action. Its a little unclear from the original bug report as to why you cannot specify the driver for the disk in the definition for the virtual machine using the following line: driver name='qemu' type='raw'/ Are you using opennebula to generate the virtual machine definitions? In which case we may need to re-assign this bug to that package. Thanks again for helping to make Ubuntu better. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684127 Title: virsh adds automatically type='raw' to a disk session -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 704766] Re: unable to install nagios3
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I've tried to reproduce this on a clean Maverick Server 10.10 installation; however nagios3 installs OK with no errors. The service check commands that are causing the errors during the installation are provided by the nagios-plugins-basic package which would appear to have been installed prior to installing nagios3. Please could you try purging this package as it would appear that the files in /etc/nagios-plugins/config have either been changed or are missing: sudo apt-get purge nagios-plugins-basic You can then attempt to complete the nagios3 install by running the following command: sudo apt-get install nagios3 This should also re-install the plugins package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In the Lucid release, nagios3 and smbclient are both located in the main section of the archive; this part of the archive is officially supported by Canonical and as such no dependencies can be made between packages in main and packages in universe (supported by the wider Ubuntu community). Samba 4 is still an alpha release (and hence located in universe) and won't at this point in time even be considered for inclusion in the main archive even in the development release. Although the change you suggest would resolve your issue, it will break the main - universe rules and would not be accepted into the nagios3 package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 596993] Re: hostname handling needs improvement for elastic-ip and ebs start-stop
Scott, I just tested a recent Maverick AMI and it does indeed correctly set the hostname to the newly assigned internal domain name after a stop/start sequence. So no need to open any other bugs on that score. + uname -n ip-10-117-39-235 + hostname -s ip-10-117-39-235 + hostname -d ec2.internal + hostname -f ip-10-117-39-235.ec2.internal + hostname ip-10-117-39-235 + echo ip-10-117-39-235 ip-10-117-39-235 + cat /etc/hostname ip-10-117-39-235 + /sbin/sysctl -n kernel.hostname ip-10-117-39-235 Now the question is how early in the boot process does cloud-init run? [Bug 529714] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r()
My bug (#7027730) has been ID'ed as a diplicate of this bug... even though it effects a lot more on mine than just what I see in this bug- Ubuntu One Music Store puggin cannot be loaded at all or Rhythembox will not start; Ubuntu's Last.fm, Jamendo and Magnatude pluggins crash Rhythembox if I try to play anything from them; No playback of any Audio CD and ripping Audio CD's... Yes that's right, if I insert an Audio CD into my CD/DVD drive Rhtyboxbox Crashes and cannot startup until the CD is taken out of the drive. MY sys is 10.10 and as a test they had me load Ubuntu's newest release of Rhytmbox (yet even though it was an Ubuntu build, it is not yet supported by them formally) and that didn't change any of it at all. As a work-around in comment #26, that person said that it will stop if you remove the Ubuntu One Music Store pluggin... not wholly true, at least not for mine. Mine will not even start up with that pluggin installed, but my other problems still are present when that pluggin is uninstalled. My other problems seem to be additional to these bugs- but do also disappear if I remove wins from the hosts line of /etc/nsswitche.conf... so it seems they are related to a problem in Samba. One other problem was that apport wasn't catching any of my crashes, so I had to do manual traces. If anyone taking care of this bug needs traces, see the files attached to bug #7020030. [Bug 579071] Re: savage_drv fails drawpix glDrawPixels demo/test/benchmark
Well, since I uploaded the lucid packages to my PPA (I added maverick also), you could just have installed those instead of the gallium and libdrm packages from the radeon PPA. However I have seen that this fix is not enough, after sleep/resume the back buffer is wrong again. You can switch between front and back buffer with the 'f' key in drawpix. When everything works, they should give the same result, just that drawing to the front buffer may give you some flicker if you for instance keep the picture moving by holding the up or down button. You mentioned that it worked fine in 8.04, I will try that out also. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/579071 Title: savage_drv fails drawpix glDrawPixels demo/test/benchmark -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
Hi folks, While I am pretty satisfied now with Ubuntu 10.04.1 with all updates applied, the 10.10 is far from being perfect. I can directly compare because I have 2 times exactly same hardware - one with 10.04.1 and one with 10.10. With the 10.10 I have problems with network (WLAN) and sound as well - just from the drivers perspective. Regarding applications I also have issues. So when we want Ubuntu have real success, the quality must fit. Maybe I am one of the few who thinks that the unity is a good idea, but the quality of the core OS and it's applications is more important! [Bug 705303] [NEW] After upgrade, transmission web interface does not work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission Using Ubuntu Maverick (10.10), after upgrading from transmission-common (2.04-0ubuntu2) to 2.05-0ubuntu0.1 and from transmission-gtk (2.04-0ubuntu2) to 2.05-0ubuntu0.1 (upgrades from maverick-proposed), web interface stop working properly. It appears in the web browser, but does not show any torrent at all, and does not respond to clicks on buttons. I've tested it on two different systems, with the same result. Reverting to plain maverick's version works, but I think it should be fixed anyway.
