[Bug 712878] Re: KVM guest hangs on 'booting from hard disk' 10.10 for guest and host.
Okay, thank you for the information. Earlier I had wondered if maybe you had shortened the cpuinfo you posted, just to keep things more compact in your bug report (which is why I asked, because the cpuinfo obviously shows single-cpu), but since that isn't the case and they really are single-CPU VMs I don't think this is the same bug as I have. I have been able to work around the issue by provisioning guests with the virtual flavor, rather than with the server flavor. [Bug 714335] [NEW] KVM SMP Linux Guests Hang

[Bug 711035] Re: Splash screens for applications inconsistent with Ubuntu Desktop
On my laptop (not a state-of the-art technology) it takes exactly 5 seconds to cold boot LibreOffice Writer for the first time (loading it after that takes only 1 second). On the other hand, it's not uncommon for Mozilla Firefox to take more than that to load. So should we add a splash screen to Firefox, too? I know something is going on because my cursor icon has changed to the loading one, I don't need a splash, too (which is always on top, not themed according to the rest of Ubuntu. Evince sometimes takes 10-15 seconds to load a document. It shows a little loading notification in the corner; Firefox has its own loading icons. So I'm proposing several other solutions (if just removing the splash is unacceptable): 1) open blank LibreOffice window immediately, and show some loading notification inside 2) show a NotifyOSD notification Loading LibreOffice Writer/Calc/Draw instead of the splash screen 3) automatically enable the Quickstarter on startup, preferably without the systray icon (and then remove the splash) 4) add a don't use splash screen option in LibreOffice preferences 5) tell me how to remove it on my own so I can post it to ubuntuforums.org, omgubuntu.co.uk etc., so that everyone else can remove it, too -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711035 Title: Splash screens for applications inconsistent with Ubuntu Desktop -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 681348] Re: Add show me the desktop keyboard shortcut
I agree with the need of a Show desktop / Minimize all button : icon. I know there has been discussions on change or not desktop behavior, ie keeping it like now as a folder, or just allow background + widgets showing. Personally, I use very often desktop as a folder to save the files I need only temporary or that I use just right now (before saving them in another folder, like my desktop in rela life, where documents and papers I need are there). Desktop is my default download folder of Firefox, I copy files from USB devices here etc... So I miss a lot the Show desktop panel button which allowed me to get desktop in one click. Perhaps it's possible to have as option a dock icon with same behavior (Minimize all windows / show desktop). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681348 Title: Add show me the desktop keyboard shortcut -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 695664] Re: unity launcher lost track of chromium browser showing two icons for it
I have the same problem, not on Chromium, but on other apps like Gpodder, Thunderbird, Firefox 4... For those applications, I selected Keep in launcher to always have the icon in Unity left dock, even if program is not launched. Moreover, I added these apps in the Startup applications, to have them automatically launched at Ubuntu startup. And when computer starts, here is what I get (see screenshot) : there are 1 or 2 icons, in additions to the sticky one, for these apps in the dock. When I close app and re-opens it from sticky dock icon, this time all is OK, I have no more icon, just the normal sticky one, and get the small white triangle on left showing app is active. ** Attachment added: Unity-Startup.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/695664/+attachment/1833521/+files/Unity-Startup.png ** Summary changed: - unity launcher lost track of chromium browser showing two icons for it + Unity launcher shows 2 or 3 icons for some apps (Chromium, Gpodder, Thunderbird...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/695664 Title: Unity launcher shows 2 or 3 icons for some apps (Chromium, Gpodder, Thunderbird...) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
