[Bug 235602] Re: [upstream] [hardy] OO Calc Conditional Formatting - Incorrect cell references after line or column insertions

2011-06-06 Thread Bowmore
No, it still does not work correctly neither for OO nor LO.

Cell references shall act the same way independent of whether they are
specified explicilty in the cell itself or by using conditional
formatting.

A correct result is that all four cells on row 12 remain green when
moved to row 13 after you insert an empty row inbetween row 11 and 12.

The references explicitly given in a cell works and you can check the
discrepancy further by replacing the absolute values (1) in cells B12-E12 by a
reference to its cells above, i.e
- contents of cell B12 changed from value 1 to the reference =B11
- contents of cell C12 changed from value 1 to the reference =C$11
- contents of cell D12 changed from value 1 to the reference =$D11
- contents of cell E12 changed from value 1 to the reference =$E$11

thus the same references as stated for conditions formatting.

Now if you insert an empty row inbetween row 11 and 12 you will see that
the cells now on row 13 all still equals 1 BUT only two of those cells
remain green. If correct all those four cells also shall remain green.

Running LibreOffice 3.3.2

[Bug 775068] Re: [ThinkPad Edge 14] System randomly locks up and needs to be power-cycled

2011-06-06 Thread Raffael Kéménczy
The incident can be confirmed for at least to other, identical ThinkPad
Edge 13 with identical Ubuntu 11.04 Setup. System randomly locks up
completely and needs to be power cycled when connected to a wireless
network. I also have a report that this happened when there was no
wireless, but a wired connection to the internet established.

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI
Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 03)
08:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE

The attached syslog is from and incident when the notebook was connected
to a wireless network. The -plane syslog occured when connecting through
a 3G cellphone as wireless hotspot.

[Bug 181661] Re: Openafs kernel modules fails on 2.6.24 ioctl32.h does not exist

2011-06-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openafs - 1.6.0~pre5-2

---
openafs (1.6.0~pre5-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Apply upstream patch from http://gerrit.openafs.org/#change,4656 for
correct reading of files larger than the chunk size.
  * Use dpkg-buildflags to get the default values of CFLAGS, CPPFLAGS, and
LDFLAGS. Upstream does not entirely honor these yet, but we're
getting closer.
  * Update to standards version 3.9.2 (no changes required).

openafs (1.6.0~pre5-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream prerelease.
- Avoid downward vcache pressure when entries are free.
- Avoid client to fileserver deadlock during callback giveup.
- Improve calculation of when to flush vcaches.
- Don't read pages beyond the cache EOF.
- Improve file server reference counting, locking, and logging.
- Rename the OpenAFS com_err library to avoid conflicts.
- Restrict the number of CBRs allocated at once.
- Permit importing of -md5 and -md4 keys with asetkey.
- Fix token return in aklog with 524 conversion.

fix a configure problem detecting Linux kernel properties, leading to
a lockup on 2.6.38 kernels.
  * Update import-upstream and README.source for moving 1.6 from the
experimental and upstream-1.5 branches to the master and upstream
branches.
  * Change to Debian source format 3.0 (quilt). Force a single Debian
patch for simplicity since the packaging is maintained in Git using
branches, and include a patch header explaining why.

openafs (1.6.0~pre4-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Upload to unstable.
  * New upstream prerelease.
- Fix file descriptor leak in the file server that could result in
  corrupted files.
- Properly support large volume numbers.
- Document current client setuid behavior. (Closes: #612608)
- Allow salvager to be run manually with demand-attach servers.
- Properly report setpag() errors.

- [1e322b88] Linux: 2.6.39: deal with BKL removal
- [a8aa6f42] Linux: 2.6.39: replace path_lookup with kern_path
  * Declare optional dependencies in the openafs-client init script on
openafs-fileserver so that, if the same host is running both a
fileserver and a client, the fileserver starts before and stops after
the client.

openafs (1.6.0~pre3-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream prerelease.
- Revert UUID support in vos.
- pt_util fixed to properly create new database.
- MTU discovery now properly shut down on call reset.
- FUSE client support fixed for non-/afs mounts.
- A deleted volume can now be recreated properly.
- Callbacks are again not broken during whole partition salvages.
- Positional vectored IO fixed.
- Fileserver per-client thread usage again properly enforced.
- Anonymous dropbox support improved and drawbacks documented.
- Ensure vnodes are not reallocated while in use for demand-attach.
- Perform vcache eviction via a fast path before visiting vcaches
  where sleep is needed.
  * Apply upstream deltas:
- [17b48f99] Add missing semicolon (Closes: #618496)
- [ee2811b0] viced: Allow checkout of VOL_STATE_DELETED volumes

openafs (1.6.0~pre2-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream prerelease.
- Avoid spurious Rx connection timeouts.
- Do not retry Rx calls on channels returning busy errors.
- Fix double-free error in the vos command-line utility.
- Properly enable Rx connection hard timeouts.
- Fix lock initialization in Rx.
- Check for /afs existence before starting unless -nomount given.
- Fix panic when using /afs/.:mount syntax.
- Avoid a panic in memcache mode due to missing CellItems file.
- Attempt to recover more quickly from timed-out volume releases.
- Improve speed of volume removal.
- Improve CPU utilization during demand-attach volume attachment.
- Fix various error handling problems.
- Linux 2.6.38 support.
- Improve correctness and performance in cache bypass mode.
- Avoid extra runs of the vcache freeing routine.
  * In README.modules, document the need to install the Linux headers
package in the DKMS instructions and the need for module-assistant
clean openafs in the module-assitant instructions. (Closes: #606235)

openafs (1.6.0~pre1-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream prerelease.
- Rx performance improvements.
- Correct byte order handling of port in SRV record lookups.
- More robust vos release to sites previously marked don't use.
- vos properly matches sites with multihomed servers.
- Fix ptserver supergroups support on 64-bit platforms.
- Bug fixes for demand-attach salvaging.
- Avoid potential crash when attaching a volume fails.
- Properly hold the host lock during host enumeration in fileserver.
- Use larger I/O sizes in memcache to improve performance.

Re: [Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips

2011-06-06 Thread Chow Loong Jin
On 06/06/2011 18:54, Patrik Floding wrote:
I have read more comments and other views and have come to the conclusion
that Ubuntu may not be for me.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have a good trip finding another Linux
distribution.

On the plus side the installation experience was fantastic, the initial
impression from the way it looked was good. On the minus side an update of
the system froze the GUI and required a hard power cycle, and it seems that
the default desktop GUI is too functionality-stripped to suit my taste.

Unity is essentially Compiz with an extra plugin. And somehow, I fail to see how
Compiz, which has been criticized by GNOME for being too bloated (in terms of
configuration options) can now be criticized to be too functionality-stripped.

Getting rid of Unity didn't improve things much as the old style menus
looked tired and developmentally orphaned. Unity would be nice if it wasn't
so dumbed down (presumably for touch screen usage) and unconfigurable.

The global menu is provided by the package called indicator-appmenu. Just remove
it and voila, no more global menu, whether in Unity or in the classic interface.

As for being dumbed down, see above.

Unfortunately Windows 7 (and even Vista) are more appealing and feel less
 straight-jacket like.

Then go back to Windows.

I know I can hack Linux to anything, but most users can't -and the
maintenance trouble of a totally personalised system is not something I wish
to handle. I never liked the space wasting global menu bar (macintosh
style) feature, and can't seem to get rid of it at all nowdays in Ubuntu.

Do yourself a favour, and count the number of pixels wasted by the global menu
bar, please. If you get a positive figure, count again.

Window buttons on the left is a mac thing, and seems to screw up most
existing themes. Weren't they always on the right on Linux systems?

Half the themes in gnome-look.org work well on both left and right side. Please
stop with the emotional false accusations.

I use a Mac (mini) and an iPhone, and can just say that the Mac GUI is nice,
but cannot be half-implemented. You either have it fully implemented, or it's
no good. And not even Apple tries to make the touch screen interface the same
as the real computer version. Linux has come a long way since the early
days, but dumbing down the GUI universally cannot be the way forward,
 surely?

Mac is Mac. Windows is Windows, and Ubuntu is Ubuntu. Each have a distinct user
interface, with a distinct user experience. The Unity look-and-feel is not the
same as the Mac's look-and-feel, and neither is it meant to be. Unity is not
about dumbing down the GUI, but about progressing towards the ultimate user
interface, that sweet spot that satisfies everyone. If configurability is what
you want, then maybe you'll be happy with KDE instead.

Anyway, all this talk is off-topic here. This bug is closed. Please just let it
die in peace. Now, for the sake of my own sanity, and that of my inbox, I am
hereby unsubscribing myself from this bug, and will not reply any further.

Full Ack!
Has absolutely nothing to do with Chromium or any Browser based on it.
As I already wrote, I had a logout after booting normally and only clicking on
Appearance inside the Dash Menu. Nothing else was started.
Stop debugging the Chrome Browser... it's not the cause!

2011-06-06 Thread Stefano Rivera
python-pyliblzma is not a package in Ubuntu. The version number indicates it
was probably a package from a PPA somewhere.
It's conflicting with python-lzma, which *is* a package in Ubuntu, and the
correct package name to provide lzma.so.

Remove python-pyliblzma, and tell that PPA's owner that they should
delete it, it's clearly a problem.

[Bug 779849] Re: dbus-daemon consumes 100% CPU

2011-06-06 Thread Bernd Rothert
I had to reboot regularly after a few days because of this problem.
dbus-daemon took 100% CPU with too many open files (strace) and dbus
communication came to a halt.

Like Warren Jones mentioned in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261180#c4
dbus-daemon as well as kpackagekitsmarticon have lots of open sockets and it
helps to:

killall kpackagekitsmarticon

KDE recovered - no need to reboot.

There is no such thing. Someone once claimed that everything had already been
invented. That is a very similar statement. But thanks for making a fanboy
reply. BTW, I know that anything CAN be done -when I say stripped I mean the
accessible functionality. Such as selecting WHICH instance/window of an
application to switch to from the left side task bar (just one example).
Regarding wasting screen estate: There is a task bar on the left AND a menu bar
plus icon tray on the top. Most of the top bar is empty most of the time, and
windows don't drag over it (pure Mac design, whatever you may say).

[Bug 774024] Re: LibreOffice Math menu translation incomplete

2011-06-06 Thread Cheng-Chia Tseng
The Name tiltle is composed of Brand name + Product name. We translators
cannot translate both of them.
Plus, there is already Generic Name which is translated to 文書處理器 in desktop
file.

I don't know if it is appropriate to append something else for Name
entry in desktop file or not; it needs further investigation.

I think that it would be better that When the cursor hovers on
LibreOffice Writer desktop file or launcher, a tooltip for Gneneric Name
shows up. If you like this idea, we/you can file a new bug report for
it, and discuss there.

[Bug 525441] Re: Reduce memory usage

2011-06-06 Thread Jose Gómez
Actually, I don't think this bug is fixed at all.

When scanning text documents (at 300 dpi), around 15 pages consumes
about 500 to 900 MB of memory. If I continue scanning, eventually the
program will run out of memory, and crash, therefore all the work will
be lost.

Furthermore, sometimes the crash happens while saving, which is the
point when the memory usage peaks, getting an increase of some hundred
MBs. So, saving frequently does not eases the problem.

Finally, neither deleting pages, nor clicking on the button Start a new
document free any memory. That memory is also not reused. The only way
of being able to scan more pages, is closing the program and opening a
new instance.

Therefore, this is just a huge memory leak.

My workaround for the time being is just to scan documents in batches of
15 pages, saving into different pdf files, closing the program and
opening it again, and then merge the different files with pdftk:

pdftk inputfile1.pdf inputfile2.pdf inputfilen.pdf cat ouput
outputfile.pdf

After investigation, there are some desktop files use Product name +

For example, Tomboy Notes, Firefox Browser and Shotwell Photo

Word Processer? (according to Mozilla Firefox = Firefox Browser)

[Bug 689837] Re: [natty] workspace switcher doesn't update preview

2011-06-06 Thread cpisbell
With classic desktop and four columns and one row of workspaces, I
find that a window close to the left-hand edge of workspace 1 disappears
from the workspace switcher view when I click on workspace 4 in the
switcher. (It is still displayed after clicking on workspaces 2 and 3.)
It can be restored by clicking on workspace 1 again.

My speculation is that this is related to Unity because only windows
near the left-hand edge of the screen are affected.

This problem is consistently reproducible.

[Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips

2011-06-06 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Patrick, ur comment is way out of the topic, we are talking about
tooltips and the functionalities removed with them! Regarding Unity, it
has its problems, but it is still very early. I really LOVE Unity, it
shows that Canonical has the brains, unlike the Gnome team. It is a base
for a completely new user experience. Removing 2 useless stripes from
each maximized window is a break-through idea. I don't understand
anybody who criticizes this. Once the worst bugs are solved this will be
the greatest OS environment ever (and not just for those 2 stripes...)

But sadly, with the move to Gnome 3 we can expect much more
functionality removed than that removed with the tooltips. :(

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, the package installation error message
that you have received is actually a failure with lzma and a generic one
at that. The following steps may help resolve the issue. Please
execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a
terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again as this may resolve your issue. We
plan to make lzma errors more informative and that work is being tracked
in bug 691985 which I will mark this a duplicate of.

[Bug 793192] Re: deluge-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV

2011-06-06 Thread Cas
You have not given any detail on how to reproduce this error.

Looking at the trace thought this is not problem with Deluge but with
either libboost or libtorrent. You can try testing with a newer version
of libtorrent, 0.15.6.

It seems locking the screen and unlocking again - forcing an update in the
Eclipse UI - is enough to trigger the bug after a while.
I have the feeling it takes 2-3 hours until the crash occours.

[Bug 135352] Fwd:

directly enforce it. Repeating the login procedure a few times helps. I
haven't encountered any X crashes except for those directly after the
login.

I'm using a Samsung Series 9 Notebook (Sandy Bridge). These are the
relevant lines from the Xorg logfile:

[Bug 793487] [NEW] Kubuntu does not shut down when external monitor attached through displayport

2011-06-06 Thread Jussi Schultink
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After connecting and configuring my lenovo thinkvision screen via the
display port, the machine does not fully shut down, it exits the DE,
drops to the plymouth shoutdown screen and flickers between the external
and internal screens. (the machine is a HP probook 5320m laptop). I have
left it this way for ~15-20 mins with out successfully shutting down. I
have it configured to only display on the external screen when inside
the DE.

[Bug 793494] [NEW] Sync jug 2.0.0-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-06-06 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Please sync jug 2.0.0-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Changes to fix FTBFS have now been included (removal of ant-trax and
upgrade of ant to 1.8.2) so delta can be dropped.

Changelog entries since current oneiric version 2.0.0-1ubuntu1:

jug (2.0.0-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/control
- Bump ant version in build dependency.
- Remove dependency on JRE.
- Add 'Suggests' liblog4j1.2-java.
- Add libjug-java-doc package containing API documentation.
- Update standards version to 3.9.2. No changes needed.
  * debian/patches/build-xml.diff
- Add patch description as per DEP-3.
- Add log4j jar to classpath in MANIFEST.MF.
- Update to link javadoc against system javadoc.
  * debian/rules
- Removed ant-trax from build classpath. Not relevant with latest ant.
- Add target for javadoc generation.
  * Converted package to source format 3.0.

[Bug 793265] Re: If the service name is too long, printer does not get advertized via DNS-SD

2011-06-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
A fixed CUPS package for Natty is now uploaded the -proposed queue. As
soon as it gets approved please test the new package. A comment with
instructions will be posted here then. A debdiff of the changes is
attached.

The new CUPS package does not fix only this bug, but in total five bugs
(therefore the somewhat bigger debdiff): bug 711779, bug 782309, bug
790378, bug 792309, bug 793265. Any help on verifying these fixes is
also welcome.
