[Bug 924427] Re: lan not started after boot
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.3 kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.3-rc2 fixed the issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.3-rc2'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. [Bug 919216] Re: aptitude returns 0 exit status code even if the requested action is not successful
Well, in the case of failing dependencies, it seems like any choice at the prompt gives a 0 return value. Is the rationale that 'aptitude managed to abort successfully' equals success? If that is the intended functionality, then I cannot trust aptitude to give any meaningful return value. In choosing to abort at the prompt the return value of 0 should be considered a bug. Other choices made at the prompt have the effect of changing your instructions, and thus, if the new request succeeds, the return value should indicate that. And as far as I can see, the bug you refer to only concerns failing to install a specified version. At least that's what it patches. Both case 2 in the OP and the case in the mentioned Debian bug report are symptoms of the same underlying problem: failure to find the specified installation candidate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919216 Title: aptitude returns 0 exit status code even if the requested action is not successful To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptitude/+bug/919216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 931806] Re: linux-lts-backport-natty: 2.6.38-13.56~lucid1 -proposed tracker
I made a copy of linux-lts-backport-natty: 2.6.38-13.56~lucid1 into https://launchpad.net/~nutznboltz/+archive/lp-931806-testing and installed that on a KVM server. by default now: net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables = 1 VM guest is firewalled off, can only reach the VM host. If I run: $ sudo sysctl -w net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables=0 net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables = 0 Then the VM guest can access the network. This is the same behavior I see on Ubuntu 12.04 (developer branch). I don't remember seeing this on a 2.6.38 backport to Lucid before. During 12.04 testing I had to add this: case node[:lsb][:codename] when 'precise' # Ubuntu 12.04 iptables FORWARD section will control the bridge (bridging) by default. # Without the following adjustment VM guests' network will not be reachable # beyond the VM host when the FORWARD policy is set to DROP or REJECT. # Adjust firewall immediately execute /sbin/sysctl -w 'net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables=0' do only_if { File.exists?('/proc/sys/net/bridge') } end # Also at boot time execute echo 'net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables=0' /etc/sysctl.conf do only_if do File.exists?('/proc/sys/net/bridge') \ File.open(/etc/sysctl.conf).grep(/^net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables=0/).empty? end end end -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931806 Title: linux-lts-backport-natty: 2.6.38-13.56~lucid1 -proposed tracker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kernel-sru-workflow/+bug/931806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 719691] Re: ecryptfs returns EINVAL rather than EISDIR on read() on directory
SRU Justification: Impact: Read on an ecryptfs directory should return EISDIR if not supported however currently EINVAL is being returned rather than EISDIR. Fix: With this patch a .read operation for ecryptfs directories is connected up to generic_read_dir() which then performs the correct behavior. [Bug 933606] [NEW] menu windows leave behind bodiless drop-shadows
Public bug reported: transient windows (at least those from menus) leave behind their drop- shadow outlines when they disappear. In the screenshot I'm about to attach, the top left drop-shadow box was from the terminal's menu (I resized one terminal to 80x43), the right one is just the nautilus context menu, and I forgot what the other one is already. The shadows seem to vanish when I re-open that particular menu, so there's one per app I think (at least re-clicking the nautilus context menu makes the old shadow disappear and a new one take its place). [Bug 919356] Re: Default hostname needed for PowerPC
I downloaded the 14/2/2012 lubuntu CD to try and re-create Fairnet's problem. It certainly is crash-tastic (a whole load of messages when the desktop first appears), but it installed perfectly. No sign of the mirror problem in the syslog. From what I remember of the code that DEBUG message in post 1 is only printed if the installer is set to manual - its absence must mean we are now on automatic? Which is good! From the lubuntu QA message list I think Fairnet has now got a successful install using the 15/2/2012 CD https://lists.launchpad.net /lubuntu-qa/msg00077.html . There is another problem with the PowerPC installs - I don't think it is what Fairnet experienced though - where the nvram is not updated to the new bootloader partition. It only comes to light on a dual boot system. It is to do with a lack of /dev/nvram. I think it is due to a kernel change as nvram is now a module and it wasn't before. I'm going to look into that a bit more, but I think I'll end up raising a bug against the kernel package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919356 Title: Default hostname needed for PowerPC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/choose-mirror/+bug/919356/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 878820] Re: Window Management, Keyboard shortcut - The grid keybindings are behaving inconsistently
I'm chiming in too as someone who extremely highly values the original behavior (repeated presses resize the window repeatedly for all numpad keys). I'm a software engineer who switched over to Ubuntu on 11.04. My work process immediately became more productive due to the combination of the workspace/desktop switcher, the spinning wheel type alt-tab window switcher and this grid plug-in. I saved immense amounts of time placing each little debug/project/etc. window from Eclipse in a different position on each of my two widescreen monitors because of this plug-in. To be candid, this is the deal breaker for me regarding sticking with Ubuntu. If I can't get this functionality, Ubuntu as a solution doesn't compete well with my alternatives. Hell, I contemplated quitting my job to contribute to Compiz development. I don't know how I'd make that work financially. I've attached a patch that re-implements getXconsole and getXuser by calling ck-list-sessions. ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933626 Title: acpi-support should use ck-list-sessions to determine active X display and X user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/933626/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 931606] Re: [needs packaging] Please upload seeks to Ubuntu Precise
Sorry, I didn't have time to look at this today, and I'd want another Ubuntu developer to look over it too (we require two Ubuntu dev ACKs for new packages). It's a leaf package so a feature freeze exception should be easy to organise. In fact, if we're doing that, let's get it into Debian first. --no-as-needed isn't ideal. Can we not fix the route cause? [Bug 933630] [NEW] Launcher doesn't auto-hide after using Super+1..9 shortcuts
Public bug reported: After the last unity update my Launcher gets stuck after I hit any Super+1..9 combination. I have it configured to auto-hide so whenever I hit Super+1..9 it used to appear for a fraction of a second and then hide but now it gets stuck as if I was holding down the Super key. The only way I've managed to hide it is to then click on the workspace switcher.
