[Bug 923744] Re: smbclient messaging not responding to control-D

2012-02-26 Thread MarkieB
Hi Serge,

thanks for writing, apologies for the delay it looks as though my
launchpad emails were going to a list email address that I monitor less
frequently;

the behaviour is similar when calling input from a file that way; prompt
for password then no action, no responding to ctrl-D, eventual error
message as before

Best regards

Mark

2012-02-26 Thread Sunil Mujumdar
I didn't have necessary packages

sudo apt-get install libtool
sudo apt-get install autotools-dev
sudo apt-get install automake
sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0
sudo apt-get libgtk2.0-dev
sudo apt-get install libnss3-1d-dev
sudo apt-get install libnss3-dev
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev
sudo apt-get install glib-2.0

did it - there might have been a couple more I missed ( i installed a
few others that may have been uncecessary)

I wonder if I had run
sudo apt-get install build-essential
first i some of these might have been included

It does give an error after autogen
configure: error: XV is required for X11 examples which I am hoping can be
ignored. Moving on with my testing now

Please see the attached file.

I had the error a total of 3 times while installing updates using synaptic,
other times the error did not repeat itself so I wasn't able to find
consistencies.

[Bug 941287] [NEW] cannot switch user from admin user

2012-02-26 Thread kopolov
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10

I have 4 users defined.
One of the users has the admin privileges (able to sudo) and the rest are
regular users.
When logging in from a regular user, I am able to switch to a different user.
When logging in from the admin user, after clicking the switch user, the
screen goes black (as if in screen saver) and then when I move the mouse, the
screen returns to a lock screen screen (where I need to put the password for
the admin user). If I try then to press the switch user button, the same
things happens.

After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop:
Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any
.service files

The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin,
then login as a different user.

I tried the following:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop

but the problem persists.
Please let me know what other data you require and I'll attach it.

Here are some more details:
hagai@BRUCE:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.10
Release:11.10

[Bug 938380] Re: Network-manager icon displayed twice in panel

2012-02-26 Thread Tom Pino
Well as for today there is no applet at all under Xubuntu.

I am pretty sure my connection is up and running well. Would have been
hard to get this page up if not.

Should we file another bug or is this good enough?

[Bug 941293] [NEW] AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox at line 20: Could not open 'anstractions/p11-kit

AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox in

this line 20 is : #include anstractions/p11-kit

Thanks for answering :-)

I cannot test again, as i switched away from ubuntu due to other long
lasting bugs with trashing data unfixed (for example usb-creator, or
undocumented fstab options...)

Debian is rock solid guys, there is something wrong on Ubuntu.
Cheers.

[Bug 889706] Re: Gnome-shell randomly crashes

2012-02-26 Thread luca_ing
@Gwendal: I notice you've been quiet for a while. I suppose you've run out of
ideas, and since your own box is stable, you have no way of testing. I know it
must be frustrating for you to fight such a persistent bug. But do you think
you could make another try, or maybe make some suggestions?
I would be willing to help track down this bug.

Unfortunately, this bug is so disruptive to me that I am considering
ditching Mint/MGSE/whatever causes this. Mind you this is not some kind
of stupid threat - it's just that this is my main work machine, and I
can't work with being interrupted up to every few minutes.

Interestingly, the bug never appears on my notebook. This is a pretty
slow box with Intel HD graphics and a Core2 Solo processor - maybe Wei
En was right in his suspicion that it occurs on faster graphics
adapters.

Allow me to post a summary of my situation in the hope that we find something
we missed before:
Versions:
libglib2.0-0 is at 2.30.2-4ubuntu1~oneiric1
gnome-shell is at 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1~oneiric1
gnome-shell-common is at 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1~oneiric1
fglrx-updates is at 2:8.911-0ubuntu0.1 (I tried several others, no change)

Hardware:
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
ATI Radeon HD 5700 graphics
I have a dual-screen setup - we have never discussed this before

My observation is that this bug seems to happen in conjunction with creation of
windows. I say this because it may also bite if a message box opens. Also
frequently when opening the overview.
Crash frequency also varies: there may be times when the intervals are short
(say, 3) minutes, and then I may go for an hour or longer without a crash.
Probably depending on whether I open many windows - I never got a crash while
just watching movies.
I use realatively few programs. Firefox, Terminal, virt-manager, totem, Remimma.

[Bug 659546] Re: kmix (with pulseaudio) main channel affects other channels as well. also there is no way to control channels directly anymore

2012-02-26 Thread ronny
I have to join in here...
I have a 5.1 surround system and need to have different volume levels for
Front, Surround and Center. There seems to be no way of configuring this with
KMix. Setting the different volumes with alsamixer works but as soon as you
change the volume with KMix all settings are lost. Do KMix developers think
that everybody only has stereo equipment?!

[Bug 846878] Re: empty space between time applet and nm-applet

2012-02-26 Thread Michael Basse
Hi,
because i am not very familiar with git i have downloaed the source-package
from 12.04 with apt-get source xfce4-power-manager

i applied the patch and rebuild the package with dpkg-buildpackage
-rfakeroot

You can find the result here

http://alpha-unix.de/~iceroot/ubuntu/xfce4-power-manager/

Because i dont have an amd64 system/cpu i can only provide the i386
build but i guess that is ok so some of us can test the patch.

Feedback is welcome
