[Bug 941287] [NEW] cannot switch user from admin user
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10 I have 4 users defined. One of the users has the admin privileges (able to sudo) and the rest are regular users. When logging in from a regular user, I am able to switch to a different user. When logging in from the admin user, after clicking the switch user, the screen goes black (as if in screen saver) and then when I move the mouse, the screen returns to a lock screen screen (where I need to put the password for the admin user). If I try then to press the switch user button, the same things happens. After entering the password, I see a pop up window on the desktop: Failed to unlock: The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files The only way to login as a different user is first log out as the admin, then login as a different user. I tried the following: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop but the problem persists. Please let me know what other data you require and I'll attach it. [Bug 889706] Re: Gnome-shell randomly crashes
@Gwendal: I notice you've been quiet for a while. I suppose you've run out of ideas, and since your own box is stable, you have no way of testing. I know it must be frustrating for you to fight such a persistent bug. But do you think you could make another try, or maybe make some suggestions? I would be willing to help track down this bug. Unfortunately, this bug is so disruptive to me that I am considering ditching Mint/MGSE/whatever causes this. Mind you this is not some kind of stupid threat - it's just that this is my main work machine, and I can't work with being interrupted up to every few minutes. Interestingly, the bug never appears on my notebook. This is a pretty slow box with Intel HD graphics and a Core2 Solo processor - maybe Wei En was right in his suspicion that it occurs on faster graphics adapters. Allow me to post a summary of my situation in the hope that we find something we missed before: Versions: libglib2.0-0 is at 2.30.2-4ubuntu1~oneiric1 gnome-shell is at 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1~oneiric1 gnome-shell-common is at 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1~oneiric1 fglrx-updates is at 2:8.911-0ubuntu0.1 (I tried several others, no change) Hardware: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T ATI Radeon HD 5700 graphics I have a dual-screen setup - we have never discussed this before My observation is that this bug seems to happen in conjunction with creation of windows. I say this because it may also bite if a message box opens. Also frequently when opening the overview. Crash frequency also varies: there may be times when the intervals are short (say, 3) minutes, and then I may go for an hour or longer without a crash. Probably depending on whether I open many windows - I never got a crash while just watching movies. I use realatively few programs. [Bug 659546] Re: kmix (with pulseaudio) main channel affects other channels as well. also there is no way to control channels directly anymore
I have to join in here... I have a 5.1 surround system and need to have different volume levels for Front, Surround and Center. There seems to be no way of configuring this with KMix. Setting the different volumes with alsamixer works but as soon as you change the volume with KMix all settings are lost. [Bug 940947] Re: nm-applet is runing but no icon in panel
** Description changed: Hi there, I'm using/testing Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha (32bit) since weeks. Since about 4 days there is not longer an Icon for the network in the panel (under Unity, Gnome-shell and xfce). But in the Process-List the nm-applet is - listed. I tried to fix it with several tests: + listed and the network works (exept of changing accesspoint). + + + I tried to fix it with several tests: reinstall all network-things + reinstall the whole ubuntu-desktop pakage + set whitelist of panel in dconf-editor to all (later to default) + + canging to indicator-network (connman also has been installed and + network-manager removed by that). That brought back an Icon but then the + network didn't work any more. Therefore I went back to bevor. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch) Release: 12.04 - sorry for bad and old German-School-English - hope you can read an + sorry for bad and old German-School-English - hope you can read and understand it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940947 Title: nm-applet is runing but no icon in panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/940947/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 846878] Re: empty space between time applet and nm-applet
Hi, because i am not very familiar with git i have downloaed the source-package from 12.04 with apt-get source xfce4-power-manager i applied the patch and rebuild the package with dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot You can find the result here http://alpha-unix.de/~iceroot/ubuntu/xfce4-power-manager/ Because i dont have an amd64 system/cpu i can only provide the i386 build but i guess that is ok so some of us can test the patch.
