I tested the patch you, Allesandro Losavio, suggested on IRC, and in that version it's not good, since it makes juju fail to build from source. It's worth noting that currently juju also FTBFS in Quantal due to failing test cases, see Bug #1017113, however, applying this patch makes it fail earlier in the process, so I'm assuming that it creates a separate issue. Hi Martin. These are basically timeouts because each test needs to finish in less than 5 seconds. Some of them take 1 - 2 seconds normally, so if your system gets busy for a second, that can be enough to push a few of them over 5 seconds. A few tips: 1) I use sbuild, not pbuilder. If you use the 'mk-sbuild' script to build your chroot, you can pass it --eatmydata, which will help a lot. The tests run zookeeper, which fsyncs every write to disk. --eatmydata sets up your schroot to run everything inside 'eatmydata' which disables fsync and so de-couples your build from having to flush to disk. 2) If you have access to a machine with an SSD, that also helps a lot. On a non-SSD box, the tests take 7 minutes. With eatmydata, that drops to 5. With an SSD machine those numbers are cut in half. Thus, each tests is faster and so has less chance to cross over 5 seconds. It does not look like Redhat has done anything with this officially. Paul is the release manager of Openswan: http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/dir/Paul/Wouters and provided the patch as a workaround after discovering what he thinks is just a bug in ipsec-tools (although in an email to me he admits that he hasn't looked into it in any detail). It's not reproducable, though I have seen it occur on multiple occasions on different machines. It was occurring when trying to run a euca-bundle command in the guest this time, which I guess was calling bzip at some point. Predictably it only occurs when the guest is under any load. The CentOS kernel is almost certainly out-of-date so I'll update the image and get back to you if that doesn't fix it. my theory of how this happened was that there was already a trigger in /var/lib/dpkg/triggers/File for '/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules libgtk2.0-0' before the upgrade to quantal dpkg, then after upgrade libgtk2.0-0 was installed, resulting in the addition of a trigger for ' /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules libgtk2.0-0:amd64'. However, the attached apt term log does not support this; it shows no upgrades of libgtk2.0-0 after dpkg is upgraded. I am affected by this bug. But the sound plays if in the home folder. This made me think that it is a problem of white space in the path. Indeed may path was ~/Musique/Got mail I also tried space in the file name. Thunderbird sound does not work. Otherwise it does. Conclusion: Thunderbird new mail sound works if the complete path + file name contains no space, and does not work otherwise. Daniele Napolitano, if you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it.
