[Bug 1541703] Re: Move python from Depends to Recommends

2016-02-04 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi, unfortunately virtualbox *needs* python, so I can't move it on
Recommends.

You can open the deb file and remove the dependency if that helps you, but I
don't think I can change this for everybody :(
sorry,

G.

[Bug 1294600] Re: Add support for tear-free compositing in Xfce

2016-02-04 Thread jeremy
I talked about this fix that fix the tearing with the Nvidia proprietary
(http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/commit/?id=8a67212860898ef02fee79f64fc774bc14ed769c)
but, more important, there is also this fix that fix the tearing for
everybody :

http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/commit/?id=fee08eafa751a153ff93b04152ea66334141cac5

I really think that must be added to Xubuntu 16.04

Sorry for disturbing...
Everything eventually solved by installing pure Ubuntu 14.04.03 LTS

Thanks anyway

[Bug 1541800] [NEW] package libgksu2-0 2.0.13~pre1-6ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 127

2016-02-04 Thread Jonners59
Public bug reported:

Was having problems with updates, upgrades and ap installs. Tried the
usual sudo apt-get autoremove, upgrade, update, clean etc, but never
worked. Always said issues were with Phython3. So Google searches
showed lots of similar problems, often resolved by revertibng to
Python2.7... but I was running 2.7, so I used synaptic to remove
python3, then tried to clear broken packages which meant reinstalling
lots of python3...

They include these patches (debdiffs in there):

It didn't work; getting errors from partx:

  * debian/patches/ubuntu_fileselector_behaviour.patch:
revert "single click to browser selected items" behaviour which was
introduced in 3.18, it's confusing to users and was added without
rational. The issue has been reported upstream but didn't get traction

[Bug 1541787] [NEW] Printing from legacy apps on the pocket desktop

2016-02-04 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

I have worked out a concept on how to introduce printing support to the
phone (tablet, mobile devices) keeping the resource consumption low,
starting the needed daemons on-demand.

The daemons needed for printing are avahi-daemon, cups-browsed, and
CUPS. avahi-daemon discovers printers on the network, cups-browsed
creates local CUPS queues pointing to the remote printers and CUPS does
the actual printing.

CUPS is started socket-activated by Upstart and stops by itself when it
gets idle. So CUPS for example starts when cups-browsed tries to create
a print queue or an app sends a job to be printed. avahi-daemon and
cups-browsed will be started by the print dialog of Ubuntu Touch, right
before the dialog opens, making available printers on the network appear
within seconds in the dialog. When the dialog closes, either because the
user sent the print job or because he has cancelled, it kills avahi-
daemon. cups-browsed and CUPS terminate automatically then as soon as
the user's job is printed (plus a timeout).

If you connect a monitor to the pone and so fire up the pocket desktop
you are able to run legacy apps (apps designed for a conventional PC)
which have print functionalities but their print dialogs do not start
and kill daemons, they assume that all daemons and print queues are
readily available. CUPS would be fired up automatically by any app's
print functionality due to the socket activation, but then we would not
have print queues on our phone as avahi-daemon and cups-browsed are not
running.

So what has to be made sure is that cups-browsed and avahi-daemon are
running if at least one of

 - the native print dialog of Ubuntu Touch
 - any legacy app

are running. So when one of these get started the two daemons need to
get started and if all of these terminate avahi-daemon needs to get
killed, so that the rest of the printing stack shuts down when all jobs
get done.

We assume that ubuntu-app-launch is the place where this should be done,
please re-assign if this is not correct. I also add cups-filters (source
of cups-browsed) and avahi-daemon tasks for the case that perhaps here
something needs to get done, too.

[Bug 1541781] [NEW] [indicators] Players in sound indicator are not launched when clicking in its icon

2016-02-04 Thread Xavi Garcia
Public bug reported:

The sound indicator defines an action per each player.

Example for music-app on the phone:
 struct {
 uint32 1
 uint32 2
 array [
array [
   dict entry(
  string "action"
  variant string
"indicator.mediaplayer-app.desktop"

I don't see on the phone that the action is invoked when pressing the
app icon, so the app cannot be raised or launched from the indicator.

This works fine in unity7 (desktop).

This bug is a regression. In 14.04 `light-locker-command -l` works as
expected (i.e. returns non-zero, if the daemon is not running).

2016-02-04 Thread Jarno Suni
Note, that the former attachments do not work by 14.04, because the old
light-locker-command does not have --query option. See
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10217 and espceially
attachment http://bug-attachment.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=6595,
especially comments 41 and 43 for more backwards compatible
implementation; see also comment 40, but note that its attachment is not
backwards compatible.

[Bug 1440111] Re: [calendar] Reminder notifications are not integrated into system notifications

I clarified with James that by "notification tray" he meant the list of
notifications that appears when you swipe down from "Notifications". He
was not referring to the indicator itself.

[Bug 1533554] Re: Duplicate package entries shown when listing by package origin

2016-02-04 Thread dino99
Never met such issue with the actual (nor prior) 0.83
I suppose the xapian index is borked; i propose to purge (complete removal)
both synaptic and apt-xapian-index, then reinstall them.
Do you have some non genuine packages installed which could disturbate the
index ? (ppa, ...) or get some errors about wrong rights applied ?

Can you clarify the status 'incomplete' for this bug?
Is that indeed an information request for submitter (where, please) or just for
some other change you'll do on the description field?

Thanks,

Re: [Bug 1506817] Re: left TPP/2 IBM TrackPoint "sticks on" randomly (X250 15.04)

2016-02-04 Thread Jont Allen
Christopher,
Here is an important update:

When you sent this email on Jan 21, my X250 was back in Memphis being
repaired (A problem with the screen blanking off, randomly). Thus I
couldn't test anything at that time.

I now have the X250 back in my hands and the screen problems is fixed.

However, today (Feb 4, 2016) the mouse sticking problem has returned!!!
This occured immedideatly following a system update, which required a
reboot. Following the reboot, the mouse sticking problem returned.

I'm not sure how to evaluate the situation given the random return of
the problem. I verified that the two modifications were in place

1) /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf
options psmouse proto=imps
2) /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-evdev.conf
Section "InputClass"
 Identifier "Touchpad/TrackPoint"
 MatchProduct "PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
 MatchDriver "evdev"
 Option "EmulateWheel" "1"
 Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
 Option "Emulate3Buttons" "0"
 Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
 Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
3) Reboot

but with these modifications, the left mouse button now sticks on about
once every 20 clicks (a rough estimate), rendering the computer
virtually useless for everyday use.

This problem was resolved since my first posting, but has now creeped
back to haunt me.

Any advice you can give me would be appreciated.

My previous conclusion was that the synaptics driver is the source of
this problem. There is evidence that it is now present, but I'm not in a
position to spend a day debugging this right now. When I boot the
computer, before I login, the synaptics pad is live. I have turned it
off in the BIOS, yet it lives following a boot. Once I have logged in,
it is turned off. I suspect this is a clue, but I dont know how to read it.

The situation is bad enough that I may need to switch back to my
previous X220i computer, which is an equally bad alternative.
The X220i runs 14.04 LS, and does not have the mouse-sticking problem,
as it does not have the synaptics driver (as best I know).

The X250 is using Ubuntu 15.04
Linux near 4.2.0-27-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 22 04:49:08 UTC 2016
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I figured out how to boot the X250 from the X220i hard drive using a USB
adapter, which seems a useful debugging technique.

I hope my summary above is both correct and adequate.

[Bug 1535714] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-02-04 Thread Daniel Walton
using std wily kernel "4.2.0-25-generic" my system will freeze over night.
Happened 2 nights in a row. Leave the laptop plugged in and turned on, in the
morning system is unresponsive. capslock light doesn't change.
Cannot be pinged or ssh'ed into across network (wifi)
When booting usual spach screen doesn't appear. Need to gues it's at encryption
dialog entry, and type passwords to boot.
so have removed "quiet splash" boot options.

Initial bug report above was done while ssh'ed in, as keyboard not working,
screen blank.
Seemed like a video card driver issue as i was unable to get the screen to
appear after attempting to restart lightdm service.

have installed and have been running "4.4.0-997-generic" from ubuntu mainline
intel driver kernel.
(linux-image-4.4.0-997-generic_4.4.0-997.201601242100_amd64.deb)
(after 4.2 kernel)
Has been stable and wakes from suspend mode happily.

Will continue to report back if chagnes in behaviour.

[Bug 1540401] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2016-02-04 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From mauri...@br.ibm.com 2016-02-04 06:30 EDT---
The test packages did not work by themselves as the LPAR uses *ibmvfc* and not
ibmvscsi (sorry, I confused that), which has *async* SCSI scan.

So, this bug needs this patch *and* the multipathd/initramfs patch
(which doesn't fix this by itself, as verified earlier).

I'll build v1 test packages.

[Bug 1460301] Re: [Dialer] Incoming call - no info which SIM card was called (dual SIM)

2016-02-04 Thread Victor gonzalez
Here are the steps and some screenshots about the bug:

Steps to repro:

1º Create and save two contacts, one on each SIM (screenshots 1 & 2) with an
Android device.
2º Then I put both SIM cards in krillin with OTA-9 installed.
3º Receive a call from those contacts before import them from SIM (I wanted to
try) both appear as unknown caller and with SIM 1 label.
4º Import both contacts from their SIM cards
5º Repeat the calls from both contacts and check that SIM 1 label appear for
both contacts (screenshots 3&4)
6º Delete both contacts and repeat the calls (screenshots 1.2 & 2.2) like step
3º.

[Bug 1337873] Re: ifupdown initialization problems caused by race condition

2016-02-04 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
Hello Max,

My guess (supported by a test I made in a test environment) is the cause of the
problem are those lines under iface bond0:
pre-ip ifup eth2
pre-up ifup eth3

Those are most probably causing a deadlock, since the new release aims to fix
the race condition causing the original issue (described above).
Removing those lines (and hence following the convention described in
/usr/share/doc/ifenslave/README.Debian.gz) will make your configuration
compatible with the supported (and documented) convention.

In your case ifupdown will be responsible for bringing eth2 and eth3
devices while setting up bond0, so you don't need to undertake any
additional actions in the bond0 section - please depend on this.
