[Bug 1570631] Re: With hw:vif_multiqueue_enabled, libvirt driver fails with VM larger than 8 vCPU

2016-06-13 Thread Kengo Sakai
Is there anyone who knows how to retrieve MAX_TAP_QUEUES from the running
system? I looked at drivers/net/tun.c but couldn't find how to do it.
MAX_TAP_QUEUES is 8 in kernel 3.x[1] and it is 256 in kernel 4.x[2]. I want to
find MAX_TAP_QUEUES programmatically without hardcoding its value for each
kernel version.

[Bug 1592251] Re: restart: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused

2016-06-13 Thread Martin Pitt
"reset" has nothing to do with services, upstart, or systemd. It resets
the terminal settings and contents and clears it, see manpage.

If you mean "restart", then yes, this is an upstart specific command.
Please use "service" as an init neutral way to control services.

[Bug 1592237] Re: Documentation symlinks are absolute which doesn't work in snappy

2016-06-13 Thread Robert Ancell
** Description changed:

- If a document has images that aren't translated they are symlinked to
- the untranslated version. These symlinks are absolute so they can't be
- relocated and break with snappy.
+ [Impact]
+ If a document has images that aren't translated they are symlinked to the
untranslated version. These symlinks are absolute so they can't be relocated
and break with snappy.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Build a project that uses yelp-tools (e.g. ghex). Check the symlinks that are
created.
+
+ Expected result:
+ They are relative so the files can be relocated
+
+ Observed result:
+ They are asbsolute.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Low. It seems unlikely that anything would check how the links work.

[Bug 1475902] Re: glmark2 segmentation fault

2016-06-13 Thread Dan Kegel
I see the crash on my nvidia card on ubuntu 16.04, too.

Rebuilding the debian package, like this,
  apt-get source glmark2
  cd glmark2-2014.03+git20150611.fa71af2d
  ./waf configure --with-flavors=x11-gl
  ./waf
  sudo ./waf install
  /usr/local/bin/glmark2

(after having enough things installed) seems to work around the problem.

But so does just preloading libpthread:

LD_PRELOAD=/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 /usr/bin/glmark2

Thanks to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31579243/segmentation-
fault-before-main-when-using-glut-and-stdstring for the tip.

So... it's a linking problem? But "ldd glmark2" shows same number of lines
regardless
of whether I run it against the working or the broken glmark2.

Rebuilding the kosher debian way,
   sudo apt-get build-deps glmark2
   cd glmark2-2014.03+git20150611.fa71af2d
   debuild -b -uc -us
   sudo dpkg -i ../glmark2_2014.03+git20150611.fa71af2d-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
   /usr/bin/glmark2
also fixed the problem.

[Bug 1592232] [NEW] USA: Meizu Pro 5 changes from cellular carrier to "Denied" (AT and T-Mobile)

2016-06-13 Thread Seth
Public bug reported:

current build number: 102
device name: turbo
channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu.en
last update: 2016-06-13 17:24:38
version version: 102
version ubuntu: 20160611
version device: 20160531-61c5e72
version custom: 20160504-975-19-6

While walking around outside, signal strength goes from full bars to "Denied"
or "Unavailable." This occurs with one SIM card in SIM Slot One and the second
slot empty. I have noticed the behavior with both the US provider T-Mobile and
AT This will occur while driving as well. Sometimes, the phone will have to
be restarted before signal bars are displayed again. However, restarting does
not always fix it. This occurs both in Los Angeles, CA and Washington, DC as
well as other major cities. If stationary, I can expect reasonable speeds and
reliable service all day without interruption.

[Bug 1448924] Re: watchdogd doesn't start on boot

2016-06-13 Thread David Kowis
Sorry for the noise on this bug! It turns out I'm simply not waiting
long enough for it to come up. It is being started on boot, and
everything is working like I expect, just isn't showing up.

I do still have the question about when it'll make it into a Xenial-updates
repo, though.

Thanks, and again sorry for the bug noise.

[Bug 1448924] Re: watchdogd doesn't start on boot

2016-06-13 Thread David Kowis
Also, I've grabbed and installed the 5.15-1 .dpkg. systemctl reports
that it's enabled, but it never starts on boot. Checking right after
boot yields this:

```
root@hylden:~# systemctl status watchdog
● watchdog.service - watchdog daemon
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/watchdog.service; enabled; vendor
preset: enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
root@hylden:~# ps -eaf | grep watchdog
root10 2  0 20:01 ?00:00:00 [watchdog/0]
root11 2  0 20:01 ?00:00:00 [watchdog/1]
root   978   959  0 20:02 pts/000:00:00 grep --color=auto watchdog
```

```
root@hylden:/etc/default# systemctl is-enabled watchdog
enabled
```

I've disabled and re-enabled the init script via `systemctl disable
watchdog` and `systemctl enable watchdog` but I never get a watchdog
started on boot. I always have to manually start it.

What am I missing?

installation) to include the same character.

[Bug 1592201] [NEW] Webcam(s) do not work on Microsoft Surface Book or Surface Pro 4

Public bug reported:

Despite of the existing patch (e.g.
https://github.com/tiggerite/mint-17.3-for-surface-
pro-3/blob/master/patches-4.3/surface-cam.patch), it seems some surface
pro 4 model (E.g. my i7 16G) uses a different webcam solution.

>From windows, there are three camera listed with "Camera" in their driver name.
They are Microsoft Camera Front, Microsoft Camera Rear and Microsoft IR Camera
Front.

The properties dialogs show that they are OV5693, OV7251 and OV8865,
seems they are i2c device instead of usb device.

[Bug 1591575] Re: Network Manager (nm-applet) not starting for new users

2016-06-13 Thread FerVira
UPDATE: nm-applet began to start normally after two system reboots. (User
logout and re-login did not fix it.)
This issue didn't affect user accounts created with User IDs equal or major
than 1000.
So, THIS BUG ONLY AFFECTS: new user accounts with User IDs below 1000, and just
after system is rebooted twice.

Sorry for our sensibility, we don't use to reboot very often. :D

[Bug 1587876] Re: package i8kutils (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-06-13 Thread Mary Margaret
Got this same error on my computer I use for G.I.S.

Sad because our IT guy said it could not be fixed running Ubuntu 16.04.
He said he's had these issues for years now with Ubuntu and i8k.

I know that some in the other departments have issues with Dell desktops
and i8k because they got new machines because of it.

I'm not a IT expert or a Ubuntu expert; I just use it for work. That
said, I do know that i8k has to do with fans and I know that we had
computers overheat and burn out because the fans weren't running. I
talked with a manager and he said they were looking at other
alternatives because Ubuntu was causing problems. Things like no fans,
no fan control, or fans running at max speed until they burn out
quickly.

[Bug 1535458] Re: [15.10 REGRESSION] Randomly wrongly detects files as binary

2016-06-13 Thread Mathew Hodson
I am running a Trusty system with grep/2.16-1 and the problem doesn't
show up there.

I manually installed grep/2.25-1~16.04.1 and grep/2.25-3 to them with
the test case in Debian #799956, and they both exhibit the same issue as
in the Debian bug.

It does seem that it either regressed again or it wasn't completely
fixed the first time.

[Bug 1061195] Re: Evolution appears unable to create EWS or Exchange MAPI account

Confirmed in 2012 and STILL "undecided" about its severity? I would
think that not being able to set up the most commonly-used email
protocol in business would get a higher priority. Nevertheless, it
worked for me just fine in 14.04. I did a fresh install of 16.04 and
have the exact same result as the OP did FOUR YEARS AGO.

[Bug 1573279] Re: package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.11-0ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 during release upgrade

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1574168 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574168

What worked for me (on all the tested scenarios) is to:
sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql*
sudo apt-get install mysql-server

(this will also flush the client and I think it's actually him the root
cause of the issue)

After this, mysql works like a charm on my machines
