[Bug 1823616] [NEW] Incorrect date format for Australia

2019-04-07 Thread Jeffrey Adomski
Public bug reported:

The calendar in the menu bar of gnome-shell is not adhering to the
localisation settings for Australia. The issue is displayed both in the
menu bar date and within the calendar popout as well. The localisation
configuration in the Settings appears to display correctly whilst the
calendar in the menu bar is showing US layout. This issue appears in a
minimal install of the OS. I have not tested the behaviour in a full
install.

[Bug 1779756] Re: Intel XL710 - i40e driver does not work with kernel 4.15 (Ubuntu 18.04)

2019-04-07 Thread Nivedita Singhvi
I have installed and booted to this kernel, and ensured no
new regression introduced, although I cannot repro the issue.

** Tags removed: 4.15.0-24-generic cosmic kernel verification-needed-bionic
verification-needed-cosmic
** Tags added: verification-done-bionic verification-done-cosmic

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
The i40e driver can get stalled on tx timeouts. This can happen when
DCB is enabled on the connected switch. This can also trigger a
second situation when a tx timeout occurs before the recovery of
a previous timeout has completed due to CPU load, which is not
handled correctly. This leads to networking delays, drops and
application timeouts and hangs. Note that the first tx timeout
cause is just one of the ways to end up in the second situation.

This issue was seen on a heavily loaded Kafka broker node running
- the 4.15.0-38-generic kernel on Xenial.
+ the 4.15.0-38-generic kernel on Xenial.

Symptoms include messages in the kernel log of the form:

  [4733544.982119] i40e :18:00.1 eno2: tx_timeout recovery level 1,
hung_queue 6

With the test kernel provided in this LP bug which had these
two commits compiled in, the problem has not been seen again,
and has been running successfully for several months:

- "i40e: Fix for Tx timeouts when interface is brought up if
- DCB is enabled"
+ "i40e: Fix for Tx timeouts when interface is brought up if
+  DCB is enabled"
  Commit: fa38e30ac73fbb01d7e5d0fd1b12d412fa3ac3ee

  "i40e: prevent overlapping tx_timeout recover"
  Commit: d5585b7b6846a6d0f9517afe57be3843150719da

  * The first commit is already in Disco, Cosmic
  * The second commit is already in Disco
  * Bionic needs both patches and Cosmic needs the second

  [Test Case]
  * We are considering the case of both issues above occurring.
  * Seen by reporter on a Kafka broker node with heavy traffic.

2019-04-07 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Chris, according to the upstream bug, the issue is actually the fact
that no selection is made when an action (either edit or create) is
selected, so I don't think that bug is related.

[Bug 1773610] Re: "Format" partition edit option appears to keep reverting to "Keep"

2019-04-07 Thread Chris Guiver
I noted somewhat similar behavior in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1822249 where I say
"I noticed what appeared (twice at that stage) where I'd selected "format" a
partition, when I re-entered the partition [settings] it seemed to show "keep".
I was re-opening to explore that before seeing if I was mistaken, or it is an
issue when the calamares installer disappeared off screen (crash)."

Exploring this further today (daily image 20190407) has been problematic
with calamares regularly crashing. Installed on my system (d780) is a
prior QA full-disk install so only a single partition.

If I enter manual-partition, select the sda1, select 'edit', choose
content: 'format' mount.point: "/" with flags:"boot" then click okay to
go back to partitions overview, when I re-enter sda1 i would expect it
to still say 'format' but instead it says "keep".

I can change it again, if it doesn't crash on exit (which currently
occurs more often than not), it'll return back to "keep" if I get back
in to check the status.

[Bug 1822426] Re: 19.04 Built in Intel HDA sound is disabled upon resume

2019-04-07 Thread Darin Miller
uname -a: Linux Imagined 4.20.17-042017-generic
NVIDIA Driver Version: 418.56

Resumed 3 times from sleep with the 4.20 kernel, so far sound is working
fine.

Sometimes the issues does not appear until the next day (warm vs cold
hw?), so I will report back tomorrow.

If sound works for next few days, I will try editing /proc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf and reboot into the 5.0 kernel.

[Bug 1823603] [NEW] Add Step Backwards key binding

2019-04-07 Thread jidanni
Public bug reported:

Mplayer provides

.Step forward. Pressing once will pause movie, every
consecutive press will play one frame and then go
into pause mode again (any other key unpauses).

You forgot the step backwards key!!

One can step forward one frame.

But if one goes even one frame too far, the only way to go back one
frame, is to go back a whole 10 seconds (left arrow)!

[Bug 1823572] Re: [Z170X-Gaming 7, Creative CA0132, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound at all

2019-04-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This sounds like bug 1166529, but I am hesitant to mark any bug a
duplicate of that because if it's a port routing issue then that's
unique to the motherboard model and not unique to the sound chip.

Thanks for the bug report. The intermediate sound layer (PulseAudio)
hasn't changed between 18.10 and 19.04 so this is either going to be a
kernel problem or a GUI problem (gnome-control-center).
