[Bug 1842374] Re: Boot hang with Ubuntu 18.04.03

2019-09-02 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Examining the information you have given us (esp. request at end), this
does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting
it to a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties
you are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs.

You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your
local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support
options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-
support/709

For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

2019-09-02 Thread Daniel Nilson
Manually removing 'system-moni...@paradoxxx.zero.gmail.com' folder found in
~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ remedied the problem. In other
words, uninstalling the extension manually and rebooting lowered
gnome-shell cpu usage down to less than 5% on idle. Thanks

[Bug 1842370] Re: 18.04 on 1st boot Display Port signal lost

2019-09-02 Thread Chris Guiver
fyi: If it was treated as a bug, you'd firstly be asked to check it
does the same with the latest Ubuntu 18.04.3 (with 5.0 kernel & updated
software-stack).

Bug reports though are primarily about finding and fixing bugs for
future users. Support (questions) are about fixing your current problem
and raising bug reports if they are deemed necessary.

2019-09-02 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Examining the information you have given us (esp. request at end), this
does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting
it to a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties
you are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs.

You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your
local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support
options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-
support/709

For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 1842370] [NEW] 18.04 on 1st boot Display Port signal lost

2019-09-02 Thread Floyd Williams
Public bug reported:

18.04.2    Load from CD   select Try: runs perfect Asus 28" PB287Q connected
thru Display Port.

Loads with 3840x2160

In settings: changed to 2560x1440

Run xrandr -q

3840x2160 with 30 refresh

2560x1440 with 60 refresh

Installed on Hard Drive

On 1st boot the Display Port signal is lost -I think that the 30 refresh
might be getting over written with 60

16.04 will load & work perfect

This 18.04 install will boot in a system with a 24" monitor

xrandr -q

1920x1080  60.00*

Down Loaded 18.04 02  re-installed and updated

I need help getting 2560x1440 60  &  3840x2160 30 in the setting

1. Please try uninstalling 'system-moni...@paradoxxx.zero.gmail.com'.
Just disabling extensions often doesn't get rid of their overhead.

2. The most likely explanation I can think of is:

which is already fixed in Ubuntu 19.10, so please try that when/if you can
afford a little prerelease risk:

[Bug 1838133] Re: realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel-headers 5.0.0-21

2019-09-02 Thread Jimmy Gjersvold
I'm on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and has this bug. My wifi worked fine on my
Asus-rog-strix-gl702zc-gc175t laptop until an recent 'sudo apt upgrade' to the
latest kernel 5.0.0-27-generic.
Can't find any networks with it after the upgrade.

Please add Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS to the list of fixing this!
Thank you!

gdb log of Xorg execution and crash stacktrace

Steps to reproduce:

1) Have an AMD GPU as your display device (radeon or modesetting, doesn't
matter)
2) Have an Intel iGPU, unused
3) Start an X session, grab a window corner and keep moving your mouse for a
couple minutes, or just use your computer normally for up to a couple hours.

Xorg was compiled using GCC 4.9.4 with CFLAGS="-march=core-avx2 -O2

[Bug 1842134] Re: Please remove link-grammar from the archive

2019-09-02 Thread Amir Plivatsky
UPDATE:
I have just pushed to the GitHub LG repository a pull request for all the fixes
for i386 that also addresses the compilation warnings on Ubuntu 19.04.

I expect that it will be applied shortly (after it is reviewed).
I would appreciate it much if after that you could install LG on i386 from its
GitHub repository and verify that all the problems you encountered are indeed
solved.

I would also appreciate much a pointer to the the "original FTBFS"
problems that you mentioned so I will be able to fix them if they are
still present.

Later today I intend to look at the problems on armhf.

A new release with these fixes (and the needed ones - still unknown -
for armhf) is expected in a few days.

[Bug 1841595] Re: [MIR] tpm2-tss

2019-09-02 Thread Mario Limonciello
@Christian,

Thanks for your notes. I will review that template and add more detail
where I can and update the status back to New when I'm done.

As for the timing on this; it is for FF. My experience with MIR in the
past was them taking a while so I wanted to make sure I got this in
early so there was plenty of time to land it in FF as fwupd 1.3.x will
go into FF.

I used windows to upgrade bios.
Didn't suspend work for you before?
I been using suspend and hibernate for a long time, well i almost never use
hibernate but last time i tried it did work.
Is grub and bios real slow and sluggish or usable?

Hi Suravee Suthikulpanit,

Thank you for the reply.
noapic is not needed, that had been just a worse option before we found out the
ivrs option.

So you say this can not be fixed in kernel permanently. I would be happy
if no kernel parameter was needed. Many people don't know about this,
especially beginners who just want to use fe.: Ubuntu.

I don't think manufacturers will fix this.

You are here the only one who can give us hope.

[Bug 1776563]

2019-09-02 Thread suravee.suthikulpanit
For IOMMU-related part, as mentioned above, the IVRS table does not list the
correct IOAPIC IDs. This would cause driver to disable interrupt-remapping
support provided by HW IOMMU.
Here the "ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2" boot option is needed
to override the table. Permanent solution would be for laptop OEMs (e.g. Acer,
Lenovo) to fix this in their BIOSes.

Another alternative would be:
* Disable IOMMU in the BIOS (which should also get rid of the IVRS table)
* Disable HW IOMMU and use SWIOTLB for any DMA-remapping (iommu=soft)

However, I'm not sure about why the "noapic" option is needed.

This problem is there for many months, so older versions of kernel, mesa, intel
ddx, xserver, google chrome were also exhibiting this behaviour here.

Doesn't help unfortunately.

If that fails, we have to start questioning the kernel.

Unfortunately it fails (ddx + mesa patches applied).

(In reply to Takashi Iwai from comment #269)

Tried with 5.3-rc6

Problem: Distorted sound with steam voice chat with 1022:1487.

# 3 Worked for steam voice chat but unfortunately not in game eg.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Discord is mic is now distorted unless I set tsched=0 but if I set that
then Steam chat is distorted.

I will check the above patch shortly
