[Bug 1789177] Please test proposed package

2021-01-05 Thread Chris MacNaughton
Hello Oleg, or anyone else affected,

Accepted python-oslo.messaging into train-proposed. The package will
build now and be available in the Ubuntu Cloud Archive in a few hours,
and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. To enable the -proposed
repository:

  sudo add-apt-repository cloud-archive:train-proposed
  sudo apt-get update

Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-train-needed to verification-train-done. If it does
not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change
the tag to verification-train-failed. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1909748] Re: Apparmor profile improvements for letsencrypt

2021-01-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openldap - 2.4.56+dfsg-1ubuntu1

---
openldap (2.4.56+dfsg-1ubuntu1) hirsute; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- Enable AppArmor support:
  + d/apparmor-profile: add AppArmor profile
  + d/rules: use dh_apparmor
  + d/control: Build-Depends on dh-apparmor
  + d/slapd.README.Debian: add note about AppArmor
- Enable GSSAPI support (first added in 2.4.18-0ubuntu2):
  + d/patches/gssapi.diff, thanks to Jerry Carter (Likewise):
- Add --with-gssapi support
- Make guess_service_principal() more robust when determining
  principal
  + d/configure.options: Configure with --with-gssapi
  + d/control: Added heimdal-dev as a build depend
  + d/rules:
- Explicitly add -I/usr/include/heimdal to CFLAGS.
- Explicitly add -I/usr/lib//heimdal to LDFLAGS.
  + d/libldap-2.4-2.symbols: add symbols for GSSAPI support
  This should be dropped when the soname changes.
- Enable ufw support:
  + d/control: suggest ufw.
  + d/rules: install ufw profile.
  + d/slapd.ufw.profile: add ufw profile.
- Enable nss overlay:
  + d/rules:
- add nssov to CONTRIB_MODULES
- add sysconfdir to CONTRIB_MAKEVARS
  + d/slapd.install: install nssov overlay
  + d/slapd.manpages: install slapo-nssov(5) man page
  + d/p/contrib-makefiles: given the change in 2.4.47+dfsg-3 regarding
Debian bug #919136, we also have to patch the nssov makefile
accordingly and thus update this patch.
- d/{rules,slapd.py}: Add apport hook.
- Add support for CLDAP (UDP) support, back then required by
  likewise-open (first enabled in 2.4.17-1ubuntu2):
  + d/rules: Enable -DLDAP_CONNECTIONLESS
  + d/libldap-2.4-2.symbols: add symbols for CLDAP (UDP)
  This should be dropped when the soname changes.
- debian/patches/fix_test_timing.patch: fix FTBFS on riscv64 because
  of test timing issue.
- d/rules: better regexp to match the Maintainer tag in d/control,
  needed in the Ubuntu case because of XSBC-Original-Maintainer
  (Closes #960448, LP #1875697)
  * d/apparmor-profile: use abstractions/ssl_keys instead of manual rules,
allows letsencrypt to work. Thanks to Paul McEnery (LP: #1909748)

[Bug 1910323] [NEW] Fix implicit declaration warnings for kselftests/memfd

2021-01-05 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
While debugging bug 1910277, I found that the test compilation will print some
warnings:
  memfd_test.c:64:7: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘open’;
  memfd_test.c:90:6: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘fcntl’
  memfd_test.c:397:6: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘fallocate’;
  fuse_test.c:67:6: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘fcntl’
  fuse_test.c:261:7: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘open’;

[Fix]
* 1c49e3783f8899 ("selftests/memfd: Fix implicit declaration warnings")

[Test Case]
Build the memfd test in kselftests with:
  sudo make TARGETS=memfd

With this fix, these warnings will be gone.

[Where problems could occur]
This fix is just for fixing the test case compilation, it's beyond my
imagination to see where the potential problems lies within.

[Bug 1910307] Re: Please merge librelp 1.9.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2021-01-05 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Note - we no longer need to carry the "python2.diff" patch present in
librelp_1.5.0-1ubuntu2.dsc due to the test system being ported to
python3.

The tests have been changed so that the scripts are executed by a python
interpreter, and not bash, so the shbangs for "/usr/bin/env python" are
now dead code, and don't break the testsuite, like it once did in the
old librelp_1.5.0-1ubuntu2.dsc version.

You can see the transition to being executed in a python interpreter in the
below hunk:
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wwNwg8f4Zm/

Hence, it is safe to drop "python2.diff".

  This bug is needed for the SRU of bug 1908473, which fixes a file
- descriptor leak in librelp.
+ descriptor leak in librelp. The leak was fixed in 1.7.0, so the merge to

2021-01-05 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hello,

does it work if you edit your grub file /etc/default/grub with:
  sudo nano /etc/default/grub

And add the "i8042.reset" option in the following line, to change it from:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

into something like:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.reset quiet splash"

Save the file and exit, then execute the following command:
 sudo update-grub

Please attach the dmesg output after reboot with this option added to
your grub (and let us know if this works). Thanks!

[Bug 1908473] Re: rsyslog-relp: imrelp module leaves sockets in CLOSE_WAIT state which leads to file descriptor leak

2021-01-05 Thread Matthew Ruffell
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  In recent versions of rsyslog and librelp, the imrelp module leaks file
  descriptors due to a bug where it does not correctly close sockets, and
  instead, leaves them in the CLOSE_WAIT state.

  This causes rsyslogd on busy servers to eventually hit the limit of
  maximum open files allowed, which locks rsyslogd up until it is
  restarted.

  A workaround is to restart rsyslogd every month or so to manually close
  all of the open sockets.

  Only users of the imrelp module are affected, and not rsyslog users in
  general.

  [Testcase]

  Install the rsyslog-relp module like so:

  $ sudo apt install rsyslog rsyslog-relp

  Next, generate a working directory, and make a config file that loads
  the relp module.

  $ sudo mkdir /workdir
  $ cat << EOF >> ./spool.conf
  \$LocalHostName spool
  \$AbortOnUncleanConfig on
  \$PreserveFQDN on

  global(
  workDirectory="/workdir"
  maxMessageSize="256k"
  )

  main_queue(queue.type="Direct")
  module(load="imrelp")
  input(
  type="imrelp"
  name="imrelp"
  port="601"
  ruleset="spool"
  MaxDataSize="256k"
  )

  ruleset(name="spool" queue.type="direct") {
  }

  # Just so rsyslog doesn't whine that we do not have outputs
  ruleset(name="noop" queue.type="direct") {
  action(
  type="omfile"
  name="omfile"
  file="/workdir/spool.log"
  )
  }
  EOF

  Verify that the config is valid, then start a rsyslog server.

  $ sudo rsyslogd -f ./spool.conf -N9
  $ sudo rsyslogd -f ./spool.conf -i /workdir/rsyslogd.pid

  Fetch the rsyslogd PID and check for open files.

  $ RLOGPID=$(cat /workdir/rsyslogd.pid)
  $ sudo ls -l /proc/$RLOGPID/fd
  total 0
  lr-x-- 1 root root 64 Dec 17 01:22 0 -> /dev/urandom
  lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Dec 17 01:22 1 -> 'socket:[41228]'
  lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Dec 17 01:22 3 -> 'socket:[41222]'
  lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Dec 17 01:22 4 -> 'socket:[41223]'
  lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Dec 17 01:22 7 -> 'anon_inode:[eventpoll]'

  We have 3 sockets open by default. Next, use netcat to open 100
  connections:

  $ for i in {1..100} ; do nc -z 127.0.0.1 601 ; done

  Now check for open file descriptors, and there will be an extra 100 sockets
  in the list:

  $ sudo ls -l /proc/$RLOGPID/fd

  https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/f6NQVNbZcR/

  We can check the state of these sockets with:

  $ ss -t

  https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/7Ts2FbxJrg/

  The listening sockets will be in CLOSE-WAIT, and the netcat sockets will
  be in FIN-WAIT-2.

+ $ ss -t | grep CLOSE-WAIT | wc -l
+ 100
+
  If you install the test package available in the following ppa:

  https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf299578-test

  When you open connections with netcat, these will be closed properly,
  and the file descriptor leak will be fixed.

  [Where problems could occur]

  If a regression were to occur, it would be limited to users of the
  imrelp module, which is a part of the rsyslogd-relp package, and depends
  on librelp.

  rsyslog-relp is not part of a default installation of rsyslog, and is
  opt in by changing a configuration file to enable imrelp.

  The changes to rsyslog implement a testcase which exercises the
  problematic code to ensure things are working as expected, and should
  run during autopkgtest time.

Hello Coiby Xu (coiby), thanks a lot for this information! Will
definitely try this should I encounter a similar error again; and its
just generally good knowledge. Completely forgot about the initramfs.

[Bug 1910302] [NEW] [mgp] mgpembed not working b/c old perl code, here is a patch

2021-01-05 Thread thom
Public bug reported:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu

Bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug

mgpembed is a tool to embed media in an mgp project. It is part of the
mgp package.

Since it is very old, written in old style perl, it doesn't work anymore (code
rot).
This is the output when running:

syntax error at /usr/bin/mgpembed line 119, near "do readfile("
Execution of /usr/bin/mgpembed aborted due to compilation errors.

I have had to tinker a bit with an already existing patch to replace a
few lines in the code and I got it to work.

I tested and attached the patch.

+ The ICU timezone data has not yet been updated upstream so those changes

  * d/p/0011-ceph-include-time-sync-status-for-ceph-mon.patch:
- Ceph mons might get into time sync problems if ntp/chrony
  isn't installed or configured correctly. Since Luminous
  release, upstream support 'time-sync-status' to detect this
  more easily. (LP: #1910264)

[Bug 1910297] [NEW] First jacket page gets deleted on conversion

2021-01-05 Thread Geert Cuypers
Public bug reported:

I like to add a 'jacket page' with the 'polish books' command so I won't
have to look up the book description again later. However, if I convert
that book after adding the jacket page, it disappears again. If I merge
several books (all with their own jacket pages) and then convert,
usually only the 1st jacket page seems to disappear.

I consider this a bug.
After all, I go through the effort of making the jacket pages, conversion
should not get rid of it again.

Preferences => Common options => 'structure detection' has an option to add an
extra jacket page.
I leave that one unchecked, to not duplicate the already present jacket page.
NOT checking that box to ADD one should imo not mean that conversion will
remove an existing jacket page, but that seems to be what is happening.

I figured out a bypass by editing the file before conversion and deleting the
metadata name =jacket" line.
Still, that is again an extra steps that should not have to be done.

TIA.

Calibre 5.8.1 on Win10.

[Bug 1897965] Re: PulseAudio doesn't work when pipewire is installed (ie. KDE)

2021-01-05 Thread shag00
I am author of bug 1909791

I have the pipewire libraries installed but not the application so I
assume it cannot be pipewire. I also upgraded another PC to Kubuntu
20.10 this week and it also has similar issues. I now have 3 Kubuntu PCs
(all with AMD Ryzon CPUs and Nvidia GPUs) where there is a problem with
sound, specifically the output sinks are either not shown or changed
from configured values by Pulse on each log in.

[Bug 1909856] Re: amdgpu intermittently fails to resume correctly

2021-01-05 Thread Jamie Scott
Sorry, I may not have made it obvious. The problem started on Focal but
I have since upgraded to Groovy as I thought a newer kernel may help
given various amdgpu fixes hit the kernel between 5.4 and 5.8.

I do see a pending update for 5.8.0-34 though which I'll install.

[Bug 1906280] Please test proposed package

2021-01-05 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,

Accepted openvswitch into groovy-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/2.13.1-0ubuntu1.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
groovy to verification-done-groovy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-groovy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
