[Bug 1924217] Re: bluetoothd segfaults when Trackpoint II keyboard connects
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Tags added: regression-release ** Changed in: bluez (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924217 Title: bluetoothd segfaults when Trackpoint II keyboard connects [SIGSEGV in get_report_cb() from notify_handler() from notify_handler() from queue_foreach() from queue_foreach()] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1924217/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1924205] Re: lubuntu hirsute QA-test install & prior ubuntu system fails to boot
POSSIBLE CAUSE : I booted into Ubuntu hirsute (sda1) system again.. it's `fstab` refers to /sda1 for / referenced by UUID /boot/efi which is referenced by UUID & comment reports it as /dev/sdb2 so did the system boot ONLY because I had a thumb-drive plugged in during my pre QA-install tests ?? The original Ubuntu thumb-drive (K) did still contain the Ubuntu daily image at the time I did my pre-QA checks... As Lubuntu has grown (just today) to beyond what I my usual 2GB forza- thumb-drive can handle; I had to re-write it to a larger one and used thumb-drive-K so the original media is now a different image.. and maybe this bug is just a result in my forgetting to ensure USB ports were empty.. I would have checked USB ports during the prior QA-test of Ubuntu hirsute on the prior install; but may have re-inserted drive when box was turned off so thumb-drive was easy to find for today's tests.. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924205 Title: lubuntu hirsute QA-test install & prior ubuntu system fails to boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1924205/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1924190] [NEW] Display is wrong resolution, aspect ratio, and size
Public bug reported: So last night (April 13th), I installed an update from Canonical that popped up in a GUI, it said something about a security update (I didn't look at it too hard). Since then I've rebooted my machine and now the display is the wrong resolution (it ought to be 3840 x 2160, 597mm x 336mm, 60fps [monitor](https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27UD58-B-4k- uhd-led-monitor)). I'm presently on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. ``` $ xrandr xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768 default connected primary 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 76.00* ``` ``` $ inxi -G Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA GM107GL [Quadro K2200] driver: N/A Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.9 driver: fbdev, nouveau unloaded: modesetting, vesa resolution: 1024x768~76Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 11.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 20.2.6 ``` I've tried unplugging and replugging the monitor, rebooting several times, adding an xrandr modeline, and changing `/etc/default/grub` to have `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.alpha_support=1"` (where it was `"quiet splash"` before). None of these have led to any success. My feeling is that there's some graphics driver issue (that the renderer is llvmpipe doesn't seem right). I guess there's also a confounding factor in that I'm running the display through a [KVM switch](https://www.tripplite.com/2-port- displayport-usb-kvm-switch-4k-60-hz-hdr%7EB005DPUA4), but I really hope that's not the problem. I've been using it for a while anyway with no issue, the Windows 10 partition of this machine renders fine, and I have another machine running 18.04 that gets the resolution just fine. I tried booting into recovery mode, which was no dice (also tried cleaning up `dpkg` through the recovery interface). While I was in the GRUB menu, I noticed that it defaults to the kernel version 5.8.0-49, but that I also had 5.8.0-48 installed. Boothing into the older kernel, everything worked. Curious, I checked the logs. ``` $ cat /var/log/dpkg.log | grep linux-image 2021-04-13 23:15:01 install linux-image-5.8.0-49-generic:amd64 5.8.0-49.55~20.04.1 ``` And that lines up with when I did that update. So it seems that the new kernel version somehow made it so xrandr couldn't detect any of the modes on my monitor and just defaulted to some default. So the workaround presently is just boot with 5.8.0-48. [Bug 1924189] Re: The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. [Bug 1923827] Re: Inconsistent ESP sizes
I have to say I think I spent about 5ms thinking about the size to use in subiquity. [Bug 1864613] Re: xfwm4 very, very slow - leaking something?
The policy says: "In other cases where such upstream automatic testing is not available, exceptions must still be approved by at least one member of the Ubuntu Technical Board." So yes, you can ask for an exception. If you want to do that, I suggest that you point technical-board@ at this bug. > ...or do we need to instead do one of... I think you'd need to do both of what you have listed there. You might want to pick the most important fixes to cherry-pick, rather than all of them. > My concern is that having a pulling in individual commits creates a version of Xfwm that doesn’t otherwise exist and is only supported by Xubuntu and not the upstream. It also leads to more work later if any of the unincluded bug fixes need to be fixed later. You're certainly not the only one who has made this argument. Note though that this concern applies equally to *any* package being updated under this Ubuntu policy. In effect, you're saying that you disagree with the policy in principle, rather than presenting a specific case for why the policy should be set aside for you in this particular case due to some exceptional circumstance. You're entitled to disagree with Ubuntu policy, and discussion to change the policy if it is no longer appropriate is also welcome. But if the project were to agree with you on this specific concern, then I think it would make sense to change the policy itself rather than grant an exception on the basis of this specific argument. Doing otherwise would be a contradiction of the policy itself. There is a separate question here of what to do where automated tests are difficult or don't make sense, as is the case I think with a GUI. Maybe an exception could be discussed on this basis, or even a general policy exception for GUIs. I would like to point out that you're not being blocked from fixing this bug pending further discussion here. If fixing this bug soon is important to you, you can just cherry-pick the fix using the normal SRU process. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1864613 Title: xfwm4 very, very slow - leaking something? [Bug 1923673] Re: Rewrite fkms overlay to kms overlay on upgrade of desktop pi image
Hmm, config.txt is fairly wide ranging, dealing with things the user generally shouldn't change (which kernel to boot, which initramfs to load) to things they're very likely to change (whether the camera firmware is enabled, overlays to load for things like the fan-shim). Unfortunately the lines that may need altering may well be spread out across the file so there's not necessarily an ideal location to place a comment but I could certainly adjust things to output such a comment prior to the first line changed and link to this bug. [Bug 1923881] Re: Lubuntu and Ubuntu Studio Hirsute incorrectly launch Ubiquity installer
@xnox that's a very good question. What I can say is that Calamares does look for locales (/usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED, locale.gen, `locale -a`, in that order) and certainly does include its own functionality for choosing through those options. That said, I don't *think* it needs it. We did take today's image and removed all the ubiquity-* packages, ran Calamares, and it seemed like everything worked just fine. So I guess you could make the depend calamares | ubiquity but that seems rather bizarre to me. I mean, after all, the issue here is that the installer requires this, right? [Bug 1924186] [NEW] firefox title bar cannot be turned off in 21.04
Public bug reported: Today a Firefox update was pushed out for 21.04. Not sure if this problem occurred with the update or before, but I just noticed it after the update. Using the Firefox hamburger menu, then selecting Customize toolbar... I arrive at a tab titled Customize Firefox. In the lower left corner of the screen is a checkbox for Titlebar. If that checkbox is checked, the titlebar appears at the top of the window, and below it are all the tabs. If that checkbox is NOT checked, the titlebar remains visible but now the window controls are duplicated on the tabs line (in my case to the left as I have the window control position set to the left). In previous versions of Firefox, it was nice to be able to turn off the titlebar and have the controls move to the tabs line. [Bug 1923925] [NEW] Bluetooth headset (Teufel Airy True Wireless) does not pair with intel ac 9260
Public bug reported: A new bluetooth headset (Teufel Airy True Wireless) cannot be paired on my dell precision 5530 having an intel ac 9260 bluetooth chipset using ubuntu 20.04.
