[Bug 1969294] [NEW] Ubuntu 22.04 gdm3 freezes with Nvidia GPU
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have Ubuntu 22.04 installed and keep updating everyday. After Friday's update (04/15/2022), Ubuntu 22.04 booting will freeze very likely at gdm3. I am able to confirm: uninstalling Nvidia driver could solve the issue but gave me a slow GUI. I am also able to reproduce the issue by: 1> fresh install Ubuntu 22.04 beta; 2> switch to Nvidia 510 driver and reboot and it worked fine; 3> apt update & apt upgrade and reboot; 4> Ubuntu freeze. I am able to reproduce the issue on both my NV GTX1080 and Quadro P620. It is unbelievable a bug surfaces at this stage (I guess RC?). I hope I was able to upload a syslog later. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 22.04 gdm3 freezes with Nvidia GPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969294 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969290] Re: lubuntu jammy ISO 2020-04-16 with casper 1.470 fails to boot
I've marked this incomplete... I re-wrote the ISO to thumb-drive, and it's now booted on dc7700 box... A direct clone boots; where as the first test today was written with `mkusb-plug`, a 3rd party app from PPA - thus the 'incomplete'... (which may become invalid). [Bug 1969281] Re: Very slow reception of incremental OpenZFS backup
Let me try a wild guess, it looks like buffer fragmentation related to network/ssh/openZFS. The software might desperately try to defragment many small spaces and that would explain the 100% CPU load during the low speed transfers. If the defragmentation happens in the kernel, it also might explain, why the CPU frequency is not increased. Note that only Conky records that 100% CPU load, while the task manager does not notice anything and has the load below 30% all the time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969281 Title: Very slow reception of incremental OpenZFS backup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1969281/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969285] Re: Wayland session unavailable after upgrade from 21.10
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1969285/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. I found this: /usr/share/icons/Humanity/places/48/start-here.svg Resized it to 32x32 and exported as .png (attached). The circle itself is slightly larger, which I think makes it look better. [Bug 1968757] Re: [UIFe] New icon still not present on Ubuntu Desktop Guide
I did a hack job to make a new header_logo.png file. I used the same foot print of 292X27 pixels, which doesn't fit the entire string, so it'll have to be bigger. The background has some texture, so one can see the outline of the circle of friends part. The png file isn't global, after all. [Bug 1969281] Re: Very slow reception of incremental OpenZFS backup
The error only occurs on the backup of the large datasets with incremental updates from say 40 GB to 80 GB. Those datasets are around 250 GB and 450 GB and they contain Virtual Machines. On smaller datasets I have no issues and in the begin of the transfers, there are no problems either. The performance get worse over time. Today I also moved one of the datasets to another partition and that local transfer had no problems. So the error is more related to the interface between ssh and OpenZFS. [Bug 1968757] Re: [UIFe] New icon still not present on Ubuntu Desktop Guide
Changing the html pages header logo is going to be a little more work. It'll have to have more pixels vertical so as to include the rectangle. But then perhaps not because the background is RBG: 221.72.20 anyway, so nobody will be able to see its borders. The word "documentation" is truncated slightly at the bottom. [Bug 1968757] Re: [UIFe] New icon still not present on Ubuntu Desktop Guide
O.K. I am attaching another 32X32 logo with transparent side bands. This is not official and for test purposes only. Yes, Marcos, I believe your version ended up too narrow. The issue is that the earlier one I created was re-sampled from a 793X514 pixel original, and: 1, the bicubic filter introduced "ringing" artifacts; 2, it really needed to be 21.5 pixels wide X 32 high. I made this one centered with 5 pixels on each side band and manually eliminated the edge "ringing". There might still be filter artifacts, I don't know. The active area is 32X22. Note: I did not attempt to minimize the file size. That would be the next step. ** Attachment added: "An attempt at a test 32X32 logo with transparent side bands" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1968757/+attachment/5581098/+files/new-ubuntu-logo-32X32-trans.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968757 Title: [UIFe] New icon still not present on Ubuntu Desktop Guide To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1968757/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969285] [NEW] Wayland session unavailable after upgrade from 21.10
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 21.10 to beta 22.04 the Wayland session is no longer available. By default, I do not even get the option to select the session type but if I lock the screen, the login screen changes from the X11 UI to the Gnome UI and the bottom right button appears. When clicking on the session selector button the screen blanks out and then returns to a X11 session login screen (X11 session works as expected). I thought this was related to the https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960898 because I had the dash-to-dock extension in 21.10 but after attempting the gsettings fix, it still did not work. (In reply to Michael from comment #81) > This bug is definitely not fixed, either in FF 51 (I have FF52, and there's > no solution there) or in Seamonkey. And unfortunately, the suggested addons > are FF-only. I would still like to see a solution ... This bug is specifically about middle-clicking or modifier-clicking the actual button, not about what happens if you use the keyboard shortcut, or what happens if you click the button with the left mouse button without using any modifier keys on the keyboard, and this bug is specific to Firefox. If you want to change keyboard behaviour, or want to see a change in seamonkey, or the *specific* changes I just outlined don't work for you (check in a clean profile to make sure add-ons like tabmixplus aren't changing the behaviour), file a new bug. Hi, I gave up on trying to get these options "fixed" so I started using an add-on named "Tab Mix Plus". (In reply to :Gijs Kruitbosch from comment #74) > Meh. r+ I guess? I'm not sure why this is "simpler", but obviously it works, > so whatever. Mostly because it avoids this blob of spaghetti code: +let sourceNotKeyEvent = !event.sourceEvent || event.sourceEvent.target.localName != "key"; +let relatedToCurrent = (where == "tab" || where == "tabshifted") && sourceNotKeyEvent; +openUILinkIn(BROWSER_NEW_TAB_URL, where == "tabshifted" ? where : "tab", + {relatedToCurrent}); Comment 65 was just a quick suggestion to streamline the logic a bit. I didn't say "please rewrite exactly like this to make this code awesome." So unfortunately, I still find the above hard to read. Code where you need to concentrate for a minute to decipher the structure is likely bad code. (Except for well-written regular expressions. (In reply to Dietrich Ayala (:dietrich) from comment #63) > I wrote an add-on called Always Right which always opens any new tab > immediately adjacent to the right of current tab: > > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/always-right/ Unfortunately, this addon (and the one suggested by Pietr) currently only works on Firefox; I use Seamonkey. It's my understanding that almost everything that can be done on FF can be transferred to SM with a relatively simple due diligence: http://geckoisgecko.org/ ... tho' this is for the website itself, not add-ons. [Bug 572074]
Created attachment 8642998 middlemouse on new tab button creates a new tab related to current Workarounds involve duplicating the current tab or opening a link in a new related tab but these don't show the new tab page and are less responsive. Ideally there should be a context menu entry like other browsers (Chrome, IE11) but considering that adding a "Duplicate Tab" entry was opposed (Bug 455722) it looks like we have to resort to other methods. The middlemouse approach (Bug 448546) seems like a valid alternative and is currently unutilized for the new tab button. Here's a patch to make middlemouse/ctrl-click on the new tab button create a new tab related to the current tab. It uses whereToOpenLink() so it is consistent with other middlemouse usage. It uses standard related tab behavior, adding the new tab after other related tabs. It needs to exclude commands that originate from keypresses so that Ctrl+T behaves normally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572074 Title: New tabs open to the right of all existing tabs instead of opening next to the current tab To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/572074/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969281] [NEW] Very slow reception of incremental OpenZFS backup
Public bug reported: Since OpenZFS the reception of incremental backups over ssh are very slow; FreeBSD 13.0 with OpenZFS running on a 2003 Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz (1.5GB DDR) is faster than Ubuntu 21.10/22.04 with OpenZFS running on my laptop with an i5-2520m (8GB DDR3). FreeBSD runs at 21 MiB/s with a 10% variance; The limit is caused by the load on a P4 CPU thread of >90%; For Ubuntu the transfer speed is between 90 MiB/S and periods of seconds long with 0 MiB/s. A lot of time the transfer speed is in the single digit numbers. The problems occur when one or two of the four i5 cpu threads run at 100%, while the CPU clock remains at 0.83 GHz.
