[Bug 815318] Re: song icon gets cut off if no album
The icon being used is 48x48, and is probably one of the following (I tried digging through the Banshee source code, but couldn't figure it out): in /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/ audio-x-generic.png sound.png gnome-mime-audio.png gnome-mime-application-ogg.png They're all part of the default GNOME icon theme, although Clearlooks seems to be the only theme that causes it. If for example I use the Ambiance theme but customize it to use the GNOME icon set, the icon shows up correctly aligned. [Bug 583790] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 and Western DIgital's new Advanced Format SATA drives - constant drive errors
I finally got Ubuntu installed! Because Ubiquity will partition 4k HDD drives wrong, you have to do the following: 1. Make the partitions you want with GNU Parted in the commandline, easily done by booting from a live-USB or live-CD and making sure to use parted -a optimal 2. Use the 11.04 alternative installer CD and manually set the mount points for all the partitions. A live-CD installer might work, but it didn't for me. Ubiquity will complain that the disk is misaligned if you try to format any partitions besides the swap are, so make sure they've already been formatted in Disk Utility. For some reason Ubiquity wants to put the first partition at the 34th sector of the HDD, while Disk Utility and Parted will both (correctly) put the first partition at the 63rd sector. Hopefully the developers can have this fixed before Oneiric's release! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583790 Title: Ubuntu 10.04 and Western DIgital's new Advanced Format SATA drives - constant drive errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/583790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 583790] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 and Western DIgital's new Advanced Format SATA drives - constant drive errors
I'm having similar problems with a Seagate AF drive. However, I learned how to use GNU Parted and set up the partition such that it is aligned, as described above by Maxime. The problem is that when I install Ubuntu on it, the system doesn't install correctly and hangs at the splash screen. However, if I let Ubiquity make all the partitions, then they end up misaligned, according to Ubuntu's disk utility (palimpsest) and GNU Parted. So basically Ubiquity won't install on a correctly aligned drive, and insists on misaligning the partitions it makes. Either GNU Parted AND Disk Utility are buggy, or Ubiquity is buggy. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583790 Title: Ubuntu 10.04 and Western DIgital's new Advanced Format SATA drives - constant drive errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/583790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 808127] Re: can't resize partition
Actually I think it has something to do with misaligned partitions. I already filed a bug in Ubiquity about it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/583790 GParted doesn't complain about misaligned partitions at all, not even when Ubiquity or GNU Parted and Ubuntu's Disk Utility complain that there's misaligned partitions. [Bug 791787] Re: gnome-appearance-properties not installing themes correctly
I've been able to reproduce the bug on my laptop, also Ubuntu 11.04 64bit. So to sum it up more clearly: I'm using 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu15 (gnome-control-center) What I expected to happen: Installing themes by dragging and dropping the theme into appearance manager themes, says installed successfully and then works no problem. What actually happened: When I install a particular theme by dragging and dropping, I get the terminal output posted above. With other themes, though the GUI reports having installed successfully, they are not installed successfully, but I don't get that terminal output. How to reproduce it: Even just launching gnome-appearance-properties will give the above output, no matter which theme is selected (even default Ambiance theme). However, deleting one particular theme from my home/.themes directory seems to make it go away. Deleting that theme manually within appearance manager doesn't actually remove it from that directory, so the output still occurs. I'm starting to think these are 2 possibly unrelated bugs: one with a particular theme, and one with appearance manager. [Bug 672385] Re: suspend goes to blank screen
So it's a happened a few more times since then, and I've paid more attention this last time, so here goes (in the format of that site for clarity): The machine breaks while going to sleep, so I shut it off manually. Afterwards, it reboots normally, with no error messages. it happens maybe 40% of the time, and it seems like the longer the system has been running, the more likely it is to happen, though I can't pinpoint any specific culprit. So it's not quite reproducible. I'm not sure if it happened before, since I hadn't tried the suspend feature until now. This last time when it was in the limbo state I tried switching to a different virtual console (through CTRL + ALT + F2), which didn't do anything. I did not receive flashing caps lock, but the entire keyboard's backlight started flashing, and I couldn't turn off the backlight with the usual button (I'm on a Logitech G15 keyboard). I've never seen the keyboard do this before. The system eventually turned off after a few minutes and then hung on resume too, so this crash was the worst yet. -- suspend goes to blank screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/672385 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
