[Bug 1542733] Re: Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network, "Connect" grayed out
Could this be the reason why my hidden network takes several minutes to auto-connect after a boot? Old issue, but they reported that by making it visible, then connecting and setting it to auto-connect, then making it hidden again fixes the issue. [Bug 496768] Re: *.devede files aren't associated with DeVeDe in Nautilus, the GNOME file manager
With help from: http://askubuntu.com/questions/55653/how-to-associate-file-extension-not-file-type-for-a-particular-application Created devede.xml in /usr/share/mime/packages (mod 644) [file attached]. [Bug 946835] [NEW] Downloads never show as completed in Downloads window when main firefox windows is closed.
Public bug reported: Open firefox. Start a file download. Open the Downloads window. Close the main Firefox window. Wait for the download to complete. What I expected to happen: When the file completes, the Downloads window entry for the file should update to acknowledge that it is complete. What happens instead: The *.part file is copied to the final location. The file has completed downloading. The Downloads window entry does not show the file has completed. It remains this way indefinately. If I Clear List or manually clear the entry, everything is fine. So, the Downloads window UI seems to get stuck at the end of the process when the main Firefox window has been shutdown. This has occured for about the last 3 years on different installations and versions of both Ubuntu and Firefox. [Bug 890010] [NEW] Bottom-right resize window icon arbitrarily resizes window when clicked.
Public bug reported: Besides the new resize window icon interfering with the buddyicon... After not using the new icon to resize (use top/left/right border or any of the other 3 corners) when using it again, it arbitrarily resizes the window as soon as the icon is clicked. [Bug 890010] Re: Bottom-right resize window icon arbitrarily resizes window when clicked.
This may be a gtk or some other under-lying element's issue, as I have noticed the behavior on other applications; however, it is by far most noticeable in Pidgin. Applications such as Firefox do exhibit the behavior; however, they only resize by a few pixels (barely noticeable), not hundreds of pixels like with Pidgin. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890010 Title: Bottom-right resize window icon arbitrarily resizes window when clicked. [Bug 890055] [NEW] File properties information no longer expands to fit dialog.
Public bug reported: right-click Properties In previous versions, the Name:, Location:, etc. fields would expand to fit the window width. Now, they are always truncated to about 50% of the dialog's default width. See attached screen-shot. This is a horrible usability problem and makes the Search (Ctrl-F) feature almost useless - I cannot track down the file's location. [Bug 493424] [NEW] Activity indicators never stop after selecting a newsgroup folder.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird Similar Bug(?): Bug #111856 I have thunderbird set to check Newsgroups every 30 minutes (or so). However, every time I select a folder to view, it checks the server for messages and displays There are no new messages on the server. in the Status Bar. This isn't my issue (although the newsgroup provider might not like the extra, useless bandwidth being used). The issue is what happens when that check is finished: The Stop icon, Status Bar progress bar, and the activity indicator on the Menu Bar all become active and do not stop until the Stop icon is pressed. There is obviously no activity as all my mail/rss/ntp servers/feeds have all been successfully checked and the Status Bar has printed the outcome. As with the similar bug I linked to above, the Menu Bar indicator can be stopped by going into exiting the 'Customize...' menu; however, the Status Bar progress bar and the Stop icon continue as if there is still activity. The initial startup check; all recurring, timed checks; and any manual check does not cause this behavior. Once this behavior is produced, clicking the Stop icon will prevent it from occurring further in the current thunderbird session. This is a general annoyance, but could cause confusion for users that do not make the connection that everything has been successfully checked. ** Affects: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Activity indicators never stop after selecting a newsgroup folder. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493424 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 150690] Re: Can't drag a window to another workspace
No Lionel. Changing the tool-tip when compiz is active (since, compiz breaks the DnD functionality) would then make everything work as expected keep the tool-tips useful for both cases. Yes, changing the tool-tip won't fix the DnD problems when compiz is loaded, but it will correct the problem of the tool-tip telling the user they can do something when they clearly cannot do it. Have two tool-tips: 1 for metacity, 1 for compiz. Tool-tip issue is fixed - reporting correct functionality in both cases. DnD works with plain vanilla metacity; therefore the tool-tip should stay stating Click to start dragging However, if compiz is being used DnD doesn't work, then changing the tool-tip - in that circumstance - is the right solution, as the functionality is not there. Why would you keep a known wrong, easily fixed tool-tip for functionality that isn't there? Some people are used to it - it should not have even gotten to that point. Stealing from your analogy: Just because you're used to the kitchen being on fire doesn't mean it's OK for it to be on fire. And what is the wrong signal? We acknowledge this functionality is broken for the time being; so, we will update the tool-tip to help the user know what will happen with metacity with compiz. Once the functionality is restored the tool-tip will again be changed to help the user know what happens. How is that the wrong signal? Sounds like what open software is all about to me. -- Can't drag a window to another workspace https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Prior to Karmic I had a tv-out script to enable my S-Video output move the Xv output to it using xrandr/xvattr; however, in karmic xrandr does not recognize that there is an S-video connection on my card (Radeon 9550 RV350). $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1440 x 900, maximum 4096 x 4096 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DVI-0 connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 408mm x 255mm 1440x900 59.9*+ 1280x1024 75.0 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60075.0 60.3 56.2 640x48075.0 60.0 720x40070.1 0x0 0.0 Previously, there would have been an entry similar to S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) after the DVI-0 listings. This is now gone. Even forcing the connection gives an error: $ xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1 X Error of failed request: BadRROutput (invalid Output parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 149 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 15 (RRGetOutputProperty) Serial number of failed request: 24 Current serial number in output stream: 24 I am using all default configurations (xorg.conf doesn't exist), except for the KMS switch being set to on. [Bug 466587] Re: [karmic] Fsck check information is sent to screen over and over again
I am getting the same issue. I did a clean install, but added an old ext3 drive to my fstab. I had to restart due to getting a kernel problem reported by apport. Upon restart, the old ext3 drive wanted to be checked. After about 5-6 minutes of the flashing, constantly reporting 0% progress, I hit escape and the system loaded fine. -- [karmic] Fsck check information is sent to screen over and over again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466587 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 384622] Re: When a CDMA connection is established, the notify-osd bubble flashes several times before settling.
Yes. Thank you for keeping an eye on this adding your information. This is exactly the problem I noticed, but was unable to put in to words! I have just installed Karmic final release will try pluging in my CDMA card at some point to test if the newer version of nm[-applet] has fixed this or not (I got cable since I posted the bug don't have a need for CDMA, but I will get around to it.) -- When a CDMA connection is established, the notify-osd bubble flashes several times before settling. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 394990] Re: Ekiga's window placement is not preserved after docking to notification area.
Tested with Karmic Alpha 5. Ekiga is still not installed by default (changed by Ubuntu?); however, all the dependencies (ekiga, libdc1394-13, libgsm1, libopal3.6.4, libpt2.6.4, libpt2.6.4-plugins, odbcinst1debian1, unixodbc) were in karmic/main repositories. Window placement is still correct, as it was in Alpha 3. This appears to be fixed now. [Bug 96991] Re: (Needs radeon-rewrite) 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI
Using the Alpha 5 Live CD, I pressed F6 to edit the options and added radeon.modeset=1 just before the 'quiet splash -- ' parameters. Once the boot process started, the screen said something like unknown boot option, ignoring in reference to the modeset option. Boot process continued normally, until after the boot splash went away (prior to gdm starting): my screen went into power saving mode and the computer did nothing. Ctrl-Alt-Del had no effect and I had to hard reset the system. I am using an ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350) 256MB graphics card (manufactured by ATI) on a Biostar M7NCD motherboard with an nVidia nForce2 400 + MCP chipset. If there is any further testing/debugging I can do from the Live CD, please let me know. -- (Needs radeon-rewrite) 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 382636] Re: glxgears randomly reports vertical sync, but isn't sync'd
Using the Alpha 5 Live CD, I could not reproduce this issue. Compiz was on (by default). I could not test it with radeon.modeset=1, as that resulted in a non-booting system. The false sync reporting issue appears to have been fixed. However, in 9.04 when I exit glxgears using the window manager's X button I get the following: XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :0.0 after * requests (* known processed) with 0 events remaining. In the Alpha 5 Live CD, I get the following using the same exit method: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailabe) on X server :0.0 after * requests (* known processed) with 0 events remaining. [In both cases, * is a number based on how long glxgears was running.] Exiting with the Esc key, reports no errors. -- glxgears randomly reports vertical sync, but isn't sync'd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382636 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 325182] Re: gtkpod crashed with SIGSEGV in gphoto_is_photo_playlist()
Little too late for that...I've probably re-installed Ubuntu a few times and gtkpod several times since February. [Bug 399481] Re: cups-pdf will not install properly
I am running Ubuntu 9.04; however, I believe this problem occurred prior to a re-install. Since then, I have had no need to install it, as the functionality is built-in to cups by printing to a file and selecting PDF as the 'Output format'. This entire package seems to be a duplication of existing functionality. -- cups-pdf will not install properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
