[Bug 927243] Re: Search bar disappears when you stick the window to the side of the screen

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 876653 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876653

I'm slightly confused by the information you have given above Matthew,
In my experience First, Compiz resizes a window to less than its
minimum width if you semi-maximize it on the left, but not if you semi-
maximize it on the right. is invalid for me, it happens on both sides.
Secondly in my experience USC hides its search field even when at its
proper minimum width. is not true for me either. If neither of these
things happen in my case, are you sure that this is actually the same
bug? I'm only questioning this in hopes that it may provide you with
more information on the other issues as well.

[Bug 962277] [NEW] When switching from processor tab to laptop battery, sub-tab is unexpected

2012-03-22 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. click on battery icon, open up the statistics manager
2. Make sure you start out in the AC Adapter tab
3. Click Laptop Battery Tab
4. Observe that the selected sub-tab is Details
5. Click the Processor Tab
6. Click Laptop Battery Tab
7. Observe that the selected sub-tab is Statistics

This is odd, it is neither the last sub-tab i was on, nor is it the
default sub-tab. Most likely you would expect it to be the last sub-tab
visited.

[Bug 959780] Re: Password should be encrypted in gnome keyring

2012-03-20 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I'm sorry for the confusion, i misinterpreted the way Canonical had set up
Ubuntu One, they don't actually store passwords, they use OAuth tokens and SSO,
thereby storing a private token on your computer.
Again, i apologize for the mistake, and am marking this as an invalid bug.

[Bug 959780] [NEW] Password should be encrypted in gnome keyring

2012-03-19 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

Currently Empathy stores the passwords for your account in plain text inside
gnome key-ring. This approach is safer than others however if someone has
physical access to your computer, and can find a way to log in to your account,
they have access to your key-ring. Now suppose you have a Google talk account,
your password for that is the same for all of your Google accounts, including
emails. I'm sure you can see where this is going from here.
Canoncial thinks it's a good idea to encrypt what they store in there, why
should empathy be any lesser?

I do agree with you that the window is being forced below it's minimum
width. I'm not sure who is at fault for that tho, compiz, or software-

different scenarios.

The normal resolution i use, (and experience the problem in) is:

[Bug 927243] [NEW] Search bar disappears when you stick the window to the side of the screen

2012-02-05 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1. take your window, drag it to one side of the screen, or the other, so that
it sticks/pins to the side of your screen.

You will now notice that the search bar is missing, it is my thoughts
that this is happening because when you pin the window to the side of
the screen it makes it smaller than it is supposed to go. The best fix
might be to make it so the search bar can expand and shrink with the
window, perhaps.

2012-02-05 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
i can reproduce it, here's a screenshot

Marking this as confirmed, what has failed to have been noticed here is,
well take a nice look at all of the screen shots people posted here, see
if you notice a difference. The ones with the duplicate Skype also
contain (skype:i386) in the name of them... which would imply that the
packages are different no? This bug defiantly seems like it's on a

[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2012-01-28 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Happens to me to on 11.10, i'm experiencing this with an Intel board, it
happens intermittently, sometimes i can see the log-in dialog box, other
times i can't, one would think that this bug would have a higher
importance, or at least a workaround... I've personally found that if i
switch between the ttys enough the box will eventually re-appear,
defiantly a nasty bug for any new user to experience

[Bug 902677] [NEW] Application icons appear in Unity menu bar when a window is open, but its number will not display (certain applications)

2011-12-10 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

When you have an empathy chat window open, and you hold down the windows/super
key, you should see a number appear over the empathy icon indicating what
window it is, however when you do this, nothing appears, even stranger, when
you go to press the number it should be, combined with the super key, nothing
happens.
The steps to reproduce are as follows,
1. Open up a chat window with someone
2. hold down the super key

A work around for this is to open up another program after you open an
empathy window, it then receives a shortcut number

[Bug 901791] [NEW] No option to add shade button to window menu

2011-12-08 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

Shading a window only works from it's hot key, ctrl-alt-s
It used to be that you had an option to add it to the window controls, through
gnome-control-center, this appears to no longer be the case. I suppose that
this function is very trivial, however it does seem to be wasted. Perhaps this
function is not needed at all? Or perhaps it simply needs more support in unity.

[Bug 901821] [NEW] When screen is locked windows(super) button is accessible

2011-12-08 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

When you lock your computer screen, the windows/super button pulls up
the unity task bar when long held, this does not seem to be a security
issue at the moment, merely graphical.

[Bug 876290] Re: Ctrl+Alt+Del mapped to log out dialogue

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
This may not be so much a shortcut bug, as a bug between the development of the
log out/shutdown script.
If you go to your menu click more apps, filter to system apps, and look through
your list of installed apps you will find that log out and shut down are two
different applications(well the way they treat them at least). They can not be
one dialog. But now that you do mention it, it is weird that they would create
this application in this way.

A quick fix for you, would be to go to System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts
- Custom Shortcuts
then make a new shortcut called shutdown
and in the line asking for the command enter
/usr/lib/indicator-session/gtk-logout-helper -s
without the quotes, then set your shortcut to what ever you desire
hope this helps for now

Hey Martin, I know you debugged similar issues in the past, do you have
any clue what informations would be useful there? I guess to start
having the keyevent sent would be useful, is xev the right thing to use
there (I think not but I don't remember which one we should use instead
;-). Do you know how to check also if there is something in the lower
level component that could be triggering the suspend?

[Bug 898252] Re: Keyboard-Settings - Shortcuts - Navigation - Switch windows of an application shows disabled

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I'm not quite sure i understand what your asking in the first part there.
However to be honest, i believe that i don't really know enough to be able to
be a big help here at the moment unfortunately. I am willing to learn, and help
where ever i can tho. My main problem is finding a place to start. So to answer
your question accurately, i am interested, however i don't see myself as being
a big help here at the moment, so i will have to sit this one out.
Sorry.

[Bug 898321] [NEW] Keyboard-Settings - Shortcuts - Custom Shortcuts deletion does not actually delete

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

When you create a custom shortcut, with a key binding, and later delete it,
the item is removed from the list but the key binding is not removed
Steps to recreate:
1. add a custom shortcut with a key binding
2. make sure the key binding works
3. remove the item from the menu with the minus button
4. try your key binding again

The hackish work around i found for this was:
1.assuming the name of your first shortcut was Shutdown
2.after you deleted Shutdown create a new shortcut with the same exact
name(doing this disables the key binding)
3.you can now delete the second shortcut to completely remove the key binding

[Bug 842475] Re: No way to switch quickly between windows (or apps) on the same desktop

2011-11-27 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I do believe that you can now use alt-tab to change between your windows
on any desktop, as well as alt-` (also known as alt-grave) to switch
between two windows of a specific application. This was released in
11.10. Hope this is what you were looking for!

[Bug 874774] Re: could not mount /dev/mapper/cryptswap1

2011-10-17 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
So as mentioned earlier, this is only happening when encryption is turned on in
the install, i also believe that uncommenting that line only masks the issue,
as the message does not appear when you boot up. If more data needs to be
collected i will gladly re-install with encryption turned on, and gather
whatever you need.
just let me know,
Thanks

[Bug 874774] [NEW] could not mount /dev/mapper/cryptswap1

2011-10-14 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

On multiple fresh installs since beta release 2 i have been experiencing this
issue:
during boot up, i receive the message could not mount /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 M
for manual S for skip
obviously I'm expecting no message to show up at all and it should boot
perfectly fine. I do however believe that i have found where the problem lies,
it is in /etc/fstab
This is how the original file looked:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# file system mount point type options dump pass
proc/proc procnodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0
# / was on /dev/sda7 during installation
UUID=482c5b33-9ce8-4575-b787-cddeb1e93a5e /   ext4
errors=remount-ro 0   1
# swap was on /dev/sda8 during installation
#UUID=eb23dadc-8e08-4769-8fc5-0b1216b67e5b noneswapsw
   0 0
/dev/mapper/cryptswap1 none swap sw 0 0

i believe the problem is that the following line of:
#UUID=eb23dadc-8e08-4769-8fc5-0b1216b67e5b noneswapsw
   0 0

is not supposed to be commented out, i believe this happens somewhere in
install. The ghetto fix for this is simply to remove the comment on it,
but it definitely should not be happening...

i have also found a eerily similar problem from Ubuntu 9.10 Bug #490760
which is a duplicate of another bug that is why i classified this as
cryptsetup, because that bug was.

Here is more information:

[Bug 763230] Re: No option to minimize windows from the Unity panel (e.g. right-click menu)

2011-05-17 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
perhaps a trigger could be written in so that when an icon on the
launcher is double clicked, if the app is not already open, it would
minimize it

[Bug 763230] Re: No option to minimize windows from the Unity panel (e.g. right-click menu)

2011-05-17 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
an addendum to my previous comment, i meant to say that if the app is
already open, it would be minimized by double clicking it, however if it
was not yet opened, it would open it, or if it was already minimized, it
would restore it.

[Bug 728236] Re: unclear how to begin

2011-05-02 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
i believe that martin is right on this note, if you don't have anything
to be cleaned up, a simple message should be displayed stating so.

[Bug 665467] Re: I cannot send text messages through aim account on empathy

2011-05-01 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
it almost seems like there should be an option to add this to an existing AIM
contact, and this feature is only half broken, as in people don't really know
it exists or how it works in empathy. From what I've seen it needs this format
in order to work: +AZZZXXX
A = Country code
Z = Area Code
X = Phone number
