[Bug 1851986] [NEW] LXD upgrade problem with existing container
Public bug reported: I upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04, and the LXD upgrade didn't go very well. First the error reported by lxc about my pre-existing container was about "Failed to load raw.lxc". A web search then lead me to https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/6049 which matched my problem, told how to change the raw.lxc config item, and also contained and the solution my next reported error, "Containers must have a root disk device". I followed the various "lxd sql global" incantations in the issue comments and finally got it up and running. Note that there is also an existing comment from "redeye86" on that ticket reporting the same problem on Ubuntu in a 16.04->18.04 ugprade. ** Affects: lxd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bionic upgrade upgrade-software-version ** Tags added: bionic ** Tags added: upgrade upgrade-software-version -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851986 Title: LXD upgrade problem with existing container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxd/+bug/1851986/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 520546] Re: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2
This is definitely a new regression for me in 18.04, I didn't suffer from it before. Judging by the large numbers of new comments from 18.04 users, this is likely the case for others as well. Is there some way to signal this in the bug flags/metadata? (I tried to report a new 18.04 specific bug but it was marked a duplicate to this 2015 bug) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520546 Title: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/console-cyrillic/+bug/520546/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1791493] Re: Unwanted VT switch from alt + arrow keys
There is also a bug filed in 2015 about the same problem, with a barrage of recent comments from 18.04 users: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1508146 I hesitate to mark this a duplicate though, since the 2015 bug is not necessarily the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791493 Title: Unwanted VT switch from alt + arrow keys To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1791493/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1791493] [NEW] Unwanted VT switch from alt + arrow keys
Public bug reported: Recently the VT switching shortcut keys changed from ctrl+alt+arrowkeys and ctrl+alt+F-keys to just alt+arrowkeys/f-keys. This conflicts with many application keybindings, such as Firefox history back/forward. I don't know which package is to blame, xorg-server is my best guess. [Bug 1779121] [NEW] mobile broadband is slow to start in wake from suspend (or system startup)
Public bug reported: On a ThinkPad 470s it takes ~ 40 seconds to gain connectivity on wake or startup. The log seems to incidate that there is first a 10 second delay in the kernel recognising the USB device and assigning a serial port to it, and then it takes ModemManager 20 seconds to open the device, and a further 13 seconds to go from unlocking the SIM ("locked" state) to getting an ip address. Apparently it starts in 10 seconds in Windows (see https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/SierraWireless- EM7455-in-X1c5-is-Lenovo-going-to-fix-its-poor/td-p/3716748) so the 40+ seconds it's not a hardware property. It's good that there is a fix in 17.10, but this remote vulnerability remains unfixed in other versions, including LTS releases. [Bug 1636716] [NEW] editing files in lxc container over tramp/ssh frequently hangs
Public bug reported: I have a vanilla LXD setup, configured with instructions from https://www.zenly.co.uk/lxd-on-ubuntu-xenial-16-04/ - so both host and container are Ubuntu 16.04. The problem is like the summary says. A workaround that fixes (or makes less frequent?) the hangs: turn off tramp's use of the ssh ControlMaster feature. I did this via customize, toggled the "Tramp Use Ssh Controlmaster Options" setting to off. When the hang happens, the minibuffer status is saying "Tramp: Found remote shell prompt on ". I can get out of the hang by hitting C-g 3 times but that tends to break whatever action Emacs was doing over tramp. [Bug 1332945] [NEW] Screen brightness keys don't function in KDE desktop
Public bug reported: My laptop's brightness adjustment keys (fn+arrows) don't work in Kubuntu session, they worked in Unity. xev shows the keys send correct sounding keysyms (XF86MonBrightnessDown / Up), but they neither show the OSD effect of brightness adjustment nor do they have any effect on brightness. Other fn key combinations work, eg. volume adjustment, mute, trackpad disable, suspend. I can use the xbacklight command to change the brightness, and then OSD appears showing the new brightness setting. I can use the brightness slider in the power saving settings and the brightness changes when I click apply. [Bug 1272871] [NEW] hybrid-power script missing eDP panel support
Public bug reported: Last missing piece (after hacking around kernel issues) for me in getting hybrid graphics working was to change this line in the hybrid-power script to match my eDP panel: lvds=$(xrandr | grep -i lvds | head -n1 |cut -d -f 1) the eDP line for me is eDP-0 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm I changed it to read lvds=$(xrandr | egrep -i lvds|edp | head -n1 |cut -d -f 1) maybe a more conservative regexp is more appropriate like edp-[+-9] to reduce possibility of false negatives. [Bug 1222838] Re: X fails to start with nvidia-prime on Acer Aspire V5-573G/V3-772G
I debugged the 3.13 kernel on my Precise install and the problem turned out to an incomplete 3.13 patch fodr the proprietary nvidia driver from the nvidia forums. I'll have another try with the live usb stick once official nvidia driver support appears. I cannot reproduce this bug any more, it's possible there was a coincidence with network glitches and my trial boots, or some side effects related to my X debugging. [Bug 1222970] Re: layout options gone from keyboard preferences
No, the Saucy comment is 5 days old: This option has disappeared in Ubuntu Saucy. I'm not sure how to explain this but it is simply not there. The Keyboard preferences have no Layout tab, but there is a layout settings button, and when I click it it takes me to the Input Sources tab of the Region Language panel, which is mysteriously lacking any kind of 'Options' button. The only button there opens up a virtual on-screen keyboard that displays my broken keyboard layout to me with no way of changing which keys behave which way. – Robru Sep 6 at 18:34 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1222970 Title: layout options gone from keyboard preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1222970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1100273] Re: transient dns errors
Hmm, bug #1003842 seems to be about a schizophrenic split-dns configuration where you have a mix of internet dns and non-internet dns servers returned from dhcp. But these errors were from browsing the web, eg youtube.com. And I don't see evidence of this kind of dns configuration breakage anyway (name servers have neighboring ip addresses). ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1003842 dnsmasq sometimes fails to resolve private names in networks with non-equivalent nameservers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100273 Title: transient dns errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1100273/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1089782] [NEW] utf-8 mode persists over reset, conflicts with UI
Public bug reported: Hello, When I manually select ISO-8859-1 charset, the escape sequence to select UTF-8 mode (ESC % G) will throw off the gnome-terminal character set in the following ways: 1) theUTF-8 mode persists even over a reset (tput reset or manually echoing ESC c). 2) the UI still erroneously shows that 8859-1 is selected in the menu, even though the terminal has reverted to UTF-8. It took me a while to track down why my terminal stopped working when the other end upgraded to a CentOS version that for some reason started sending out the UTF-8 mode select sequence in screen init with TERM=xterm, since I trusted the terminal reset and gnome-terminal UI about the charset...
