Re: [Bug 1897781] Re: System upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 stops part-way through.
Hi Brian, Did so: bash: /etc/profile.d/vte.sh: No such file or directory george@Leysin:~$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop [sudo] password for george: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done ubuntu-desktop is already the newest version (1.417.5). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. george@Leysin:~$ ^C george@Leysin:~$ What I do find strange is that last evening I upgraded an older (2005) PC which had xubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 with no real difficulty. Yes, it never did stop searching for files to remove (in preparation for Clean UP), so this morning I just turned it off and rebooted. Then I ran the three apt commands, update, upgrade, and autoremove. That PC now runs xubuntu 20.04 just fine. Dear Brian, Two questions. What do you mean by "the ubuntu-desktop package"? Do you mean the iso I downloaded for Ubuntu 18.04? And, if so, in what format? Iso? Second, where might I get directions on just how to install the package from the command line. By command line I take it you mean a terminal where I might use sudo as the first word. Brian, by ubuntu-desktop package, do you mean ubuntu-release-upgrader-core ? And, if so, where to I find that? [Bug 1897781] [NEW] System upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 stops part-way through.
Public bug reported: "Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'." I did uncheck my two ppa in my upgrade sources but still get the above error message. [Bug 1594974] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu0.2: bcmwl kernel module failed to build
Have just recently installed Ubuntu MATE 14.04.2 LTS on a venerable HP notebook. The install was done as Ubuntu 16.04 had failed miserably. Today I got the notice regarding the need to install the new 16.04 hardware updater. N.B., yesterday that update went without a problem on my older DELL PC (13 years old) where I had also recently done a reinstall of UM 14.04.2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1594974 Title: bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu0.2: bcmwl kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1594974/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
