[Bug 2069028] [NEW] Package current upstream (v2024.02.1)

2024-06-11 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
Public bug reported:

v2024.01.1 is the newest release of hart-software-services.

We only package the hart payload generator. Here most changes are purely
cosmetic.

The only change to logic is:

fix(hss-payload-generator): use ELF entry address

When including an ELF file into a payload, use its linked
entry point, and ignore any entry point specified in YAML.

[Bug 2068739] [NEW] [SRU] use earlycon=sbi on the kernel command line

2024-06-07 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

On RISC-V boards we have specified 'earlycon' on the command line to
provide early kernel log output. This does not work with current
kernels.

We have to specify 'earlycon=sbi' to use the kernel driver for the SBI
debug console extension which is available since OpenSBI v1.3.

[ Test Plan ]

To reproduce the problem append 'console=ttyS0' to the kernel command
line. This will result in writing at 9600 baud in the 'late' console
while the early console is expected at 115200 baud.

With 'earlycon=sbi' the early messages are shown.

For testing the Nezha D1 board can be used with our preinstalled server
image.

[ Where problems could occur ]

The early console might not work and users might see messages late.

[Bug 2066886] [NEW] /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml too specific

2024-05-23 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
Public bug reported:

When installing a virtual machine with the live-installer it created
/etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml with

network:
ethernets:
enp0s6:
dhcp4: true
version: 2

When I rebooted I had a device enp0s4 and no network.

Wouldn't it be preferable to write a less restrictive 50-cloud-init.yaml
which encompasses all Ethernet devices and marks them as optional:

network:
version: 2
ethernets:
all-en:
match:
name: "en*"
dhcp4: true
optional: true

[Bug 2049315] Re: cups-browsed running non-stop on two cores

>> The instructions are for applying when cups-browsed is running and
stuck, not after killing it.

I did not kill any process before attaching gdb.
And top shows 200 % cpu usage by cupsd.

This is what still needs to be solved.

[Bug 2049315] Re: cups-browsed running non-stop on two cores

2024-05-09 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
@Till

There are two processes running:

$ ps aux | grep cups-browsed | grep -v grep
root2912  0.0  0.0   2892  1708 ?Ss   10:13   0:00 /bin/sh

/snap/cups/1047/scripts/run-cups-browsed

None of these relates to what top shows as culprit:

2898 root  20   0  195916  16320  11736 R 197.0   0.1 139:30.91

2024-04-24 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
@glathe

We used to have packate linux-image-laptop-23.10 which provided file
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/modules.d/laptop. This contained
qcom_q6v5_pas. It have recreated this file manually but this does not
resolve my problems.

Which follow up package provided with the X13s installer image defines
the modules to be included in the initrd?

[Bug 2038933] Re: sun8i-dw-hdmi 5500000.hdmi: Couldn't get the HDMI PHY

2024-04-24 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
On my LicheeRV Dock it dos not work for me with HDMI plugged in at
start. I just get

[   67.521944] sun8i-dw-hdmi 550.hdmi: Couldn't get the HDMI PHY
[   67.613930] sun4i-drm display-engine: Couldn't bind all pipelines components

and no output. On the Nezha D1 I did not have this issue.

When Alexandre wrote the tests it was explicitly foreseen to plug in
HDMI after login. So this must have worked previously.

[Bug 2060311] Re: Setting "optional: true" to overcome he timeout "Job systemd-networkd-wait-online" does no longer work with latest noble image

2024-04-15 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
On riscv64 preinstalled images we have

$ sudo cat 50-cloud-init.yaml
# This file is generated from information provided by the datasource. Changes
# to it will not persist across an instance reboot. To disable cloud-init's
# network configuration capabilities, write a file
# /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/99-disable-network-config.cfg with the following:
# network: {config: disabled}
network:
ethernets:
zz-all-en:
dhcp4: true
match:
name: en*
optional: true
zz-all-eth:
dhcp4: true
match:
name: eth*
optional: true
version: 2

Before the change cloud-init finds an IPv4 address. With the change
cloud-init sees no IPv4 address. So it seems that 'optional: true' is
observed now.

How can we ensure that at least one Ethernet port is set up?

[Bug 2060681] Re: systemd-networkd-wait-online.service halts booting for 2 1/2 minutes

2024-04-09 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
@Nick, thanks for picking this up.

/etc/netplan/ is empty on first boot. It is cloud-init that fills it
with

$ sudo cat 50-cloud-init.yaml
# This file is generated from information provided by the datasource. Changes
# to it will not persist across an instance reboot. To disable cloud-init's
# network configuration capabilities, write a file
# /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/99-disable-network-config.cfg with the following:
# network: {config: disabled}

dhcp4: true
match:

optional: true
zz-all-eth:

Uninstalling glibc-doc resolves the problem. But manpages-dev should
have 'conflicts' and 'replaces' tags.
