either the bug was never really fixed or it got back since kernel
5.15.0-105-generic (Linux Mint) has the same overflow as before.

"1.375012] UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in

[Bug 1550274] [NEW] Cant boot from nvme hard disk (kernel regression 4.4 and 4.5 series)

2016-02-26 Thread Jarkko Korpi
Public bug reported:

I am using linux mint 17.3 and I use ubuntu mainline kernels. There is
some regression that makes booting from working system impossible.

I got currently 4.3.6-040306-generic #201602191831 (that is EOL and
works as expected)

I tried once some months ago to to build my own kernel and everything
went like it should but I was not able to boot with it. I thought I did
something wrong, but since that time upgrading every 4.4 and 4.5 ubuntu
kernel has been broken giving the exact problem I had my own build
kernel.

I haven't tried all the possible kernel choices of course. But I have
tried from time to time to upgrade more recent kernel. I havent been
able. I have only been able to upgrade 4.3 series succefully.

The system can read grub, the grub has been installed in nvme ssd, but
the booting distro is on other partion of the same ssd. While trying to
boot it complains it cant find UUID that seems to match my ssd and it
drops into some panic shell where I am unable to do anything because of
lack of knowledge.

The lastest try was today with

linux-image-4.5.0-040500rc5-generic (not working).

For me it seems that 4.4 and 4.5 are impacted by this bug. That is
related to nvme kernel change.

I just downloaded saint row 4 (published yesterday for Linux via steam).
And it requires opengl 4.1.

It's not just ubuntu that needs this fix. It impacts lots of users

[Bug 247398]

2014-05-08 Thread Jarkko Korpi
I want to add that I went into appdb, searched 3dmark06 and saw that you
should override 2 files, dx9_something_36 and something_28.

Don't remember the exact names. And also use -nosysteminfo parameter.

Well I overrun those files, but I didnt use nosysteminfo parameter and I
could succefully run hole 3dmark test.

The fps was maximum 40-50, lowest around 10 when using gpu tests.

I couldnt upload the result into 3dmark server...

But it feels that this program isnt far from working exactly like it should.

[Bug 247398]

2014-05-08 Thread Jarkko Korpi
I tried the 3dmark with 1.7.17 and I thought it crashed, I was looking
for console output and suddenly it just opened a dialog (there was
around 30s-1min delay), but trying to run the benchmark gives an error

http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45979

already mentioned here.

I rerun the program and it felt that the delay was a lot faster.

I don't see it complaining about pixel shaders.

ati 7870, 14.3beta here.

I would say it's fixed for me.

[Bug 1268870] [NEW] Download and install sametime

2014-01-14 Thread Jarkko Korpi
Public bug reported:

This is more like a feature request.

I am just doing distro upgrade from command line.

It downloads around 1 gigabyte of files.

Why it downloads the files 1st and then starts to install?

Depending of connection this can take a lot of time.

It could install files that dont need depencies or some checks and
continue downloading same time.

The time used to download and install would decrease.

[Bug 1140368] [NEW] Updating 13.04 kubuntu system got messed up

2013-03-02 Thread Jarkko Korpi
Public bug reported:

I am ubable to tell what's the reason.

I am running 13.04 kubuntu 64bit. And constantly updating it via trusted
sources. This time it wanted to update kernel and some libx11 (or
something similar file) and wanted to remove PLAYONLINUX and wine.

WHY?

I need those to play games via steam, which are not ported yet.

Well after the update I was not able to login kde, it complained
something about the libx11 file.

I had to update some files to be able to run kde again.

Steam had become non-working too it wanted some mesa files and
complained that all of them were not able to download...

What to do?

Installing playonlinux doesn't seem to work anymore. It seems to brick
the system.
