[Bug 506284] Re: libcanberra-gtk-module.so: undefined symbol: gtk_widget_get_window
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by shipped and non-shipped versions. I have only a small number of packages that did not come from Ubuntu's repository, and these are libdvdcss2 and w64codecs from medibuntu.org, and mythtv and nvidia driver packages from avenard.org. As far as I can tell, none of these additional packages have anything to do with this bug. If you're referring to the result of 'apt-cache policy' that I included in the original bug report, the two additional mirrors that appear there are simply mirrors of the official Ubuntu repository. Of the packages you list, I have only libglibmm-2.4-1c2a installed. None of these packages are listed as dependencies of libcanberra-gtk- module. If they are needed, shouldn't they be dependencies? After installing the additional packages, I couldn't find the symbol gtk_widget_get_window in any of the shared libraries that they include, but vmware player now runs without error. As I said in comment 7, suspend and resume worked for me with Intrepid. I tested one of the Jaunty RCs and it didn't resume, but my laptop's HDD failed and I never did upgrade to Jaunty so I don't know whether the final release worked or not. On a clean installation of Karmic, with all updates applied, suspend and resume work almost flawlessly. The only problem I've found in my limited testing so far is that the backlight sometimes is dimmed on resume, It's not consistent; sometimes it comes back on at full brightness. I've had this problem too, but can't reproduce it on demand. Sometimes changing the background image works fine, other times it doesn't. gconf-editor shows that the key /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename is changed to contain the path to the newly selected image, but the desktop background isn't actually changed until I log out and back in again. All was well went I went home a few hours later but when I came back this morning discovered that the address assigned to eth0 had changed because the dhcp client was still running. /var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid was not empty; it contained the pid of the rogue dhclient process. However, it may be sensible to link nedit with openmotif in the meantime though, even if it means moving it to multiverse, because there's little point in shipping a completely useless program just so that it's free. I had two computers (an old dual PII-350 which is now dead and a Dell D400 laptop which I no longer have) on which I couldn't reproduce it, and I now have two (different computers, a P4-3GHz and an HP dv5230tx laptop) on which I can. Reliably, repeatably, every time. I'd offer to help debug it but I'm heading off for a very long holiday tomorrow which will include long periods without 'net access (and anyway, I'm escaping from s/w development!). If there's been no progress by the time I return (mid-October) I'll be happy to do what I can to help fix it. Cheers, John -- Read Qoheleth and weep. [Bug 1027] Re: Keyboard input not accepted after copying selection with Control-C
The almost working version (except for UTF8 not supported) built with openmotif is here: http://kirriwa.net/john/software/nedit/nedit- dmotif_5.5-1ubuntu1_i386.deb Unsetting LANG removes the UTF8 not supported error and it works perfectly. I've been using nedit-dmotif for over 12 months now and it's been fine. -- Keyboard input not accepted after copying selection with Control-C https://launchpad.net/bugs/1027 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1027] Re: Keyboard input not accepted after copying selection with Control-C
I was wrong about it having been fixed. I couldn't reproduce it on the Dell D400 I was using at the time, but I've recently installed dapper on an HP Pavilion dv5230tx and the bug is still there. I've also been able to reproduce it on a desktop machine running breezy. ** Changed in: nedit (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Unconfirmed -- Keyboard input not accepted after copying selection with Control-C https://launchpad.net/bugs/1027 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 55621] PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter not automounted
Public bug reported: When I insert a PCMCIA CF adapter, the card is recognised, but it isn't automounted. The same CF card in a USB reader is automounted. Hardware: HP Pavilion dv5230tx, EagleTec ET-CPFADT-0 CF adapter, any CF card. I'll add the syslog lspci output as attachments. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter not automounted https://launchpad.net/bugs/55621 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50401] ddclient generates invalid query url for Cisco routers
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ddclient When ddclient is configured to obtain an IP address from a Cisco router, it generates an invalid query URL. Using this configuration: use=cisco fw=192.168.77.1:8080 if=d0 fw-login=ddclient fw-password=password results in the query URL: http:///level/1/exec/show/ip/interface/brief/d0/CR Rather than use the 'fw' value as the hostname, it ignores this field and uses a blank hostname. The cause is in get_ip(): sub get_ip { my $use = lc shift; my ($ip, $arg, $reply, $url, $skip) = (undef, opt($use), ''); $arg = '' unless $arg; $use is cisco, and opt('cisco') is undefined because cisco is not a valid configuration option. Later it uses $arg to build the query URL: $url = http://${arg}/level/1/exec/show/ip/interface/brief/${queryif}/CR;; What it should do is use opt('fw') as the hostname, which is what's implied in README.cisco. The same bug exists in the latest ddclient, v3.7.0. This patch fixes the problem, and updates the ddclient config example in README.cisco to match the Cisco config example: --- README.cisco.orig2002-01-04 10:56:34.0 +1100 +++ README.cisco 2006-06-20 09:04:10.0 +1000 @@ -1,13 +1,13 @@ Method 1 -- The following config will allow the Linux machine (10.1.1.2) to read -the IP address from the DHCP interface on the Cisco router (eth0) as -user ddclient.
