[Bug 1067134] Re: when booting fresh install on i386 system, screen output shows evidence of buffer overwrites
One of the concern points on the top of the sequence was: pwconv: failed to change the mode of /etc/passwd - to 0600 which from discussion with slangasek: slangasek the guilty party is lupin - user-setup - shadowconfig (passwd) slangasek which is wubi-specific slangasek so a bug report against wubi + user-setup is probably the place to start However this is not as significant compared to the other issues, but should be cleaned up at some point. slangasek the root issue is the lack of graphical boot splash slangasek for which we need 'apport-collect -p plymouth 1067134' from the machine apport-collect not cooperating right now. Will post as soon as able to. ** Changed in: wubi Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067134 Title: when booting fresh install on i386 system, screen output shows evidence of buffer overwrites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/wubi/+bug/1067134/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

At this point, Stephane's approach of disabling the preview seems like the best path to a reasonable user experience.
