[Bug 1186662] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to renew lease file
I am running 14.04 as well. I set my DHCP servers to aa-complain mode. On my secondary (failover) partner, the dhcpd.leases file is owned root:root, even after changing the root:root ownerships to dhcpd:dhcpd in isc-dhcp-server.conf in /etc/init. [Bug 1038044] Re: munin-node: apt_all does not Grok Ubuntu (possible regression)
OK, I have modified all the places that use the release name, and the graph is being drawn, but the graphs look...strange. Not all of the categories show up and those that do all report zero packages pending. When telnet'ing to 4949 fetch apt_all reports the right info, so someone with more munin-fu than I have should probably look at this. I should mention that on my Debian system the graphing works as expected. ** Patch added: Munges release names but does not graph on Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/munin/+bug/1038044/+attachment/3269705/+files/apt_all.in.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to munin in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038044 Title: munin-node: apt_all does not Grok Ubuntu (possible regression) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/munin/+bug/1038044/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 991360] Re: isc-dhcp-client does not send hostnames in DHCPv6 by default
Hi Stephane, Sorry, I should have been clearer about that. I believe that I observed that the hostname magic only works with option host-name in the dhclient.conf file. 4.2 helps with this because it has the more generalized hostname() function which should be accepted in more places in the dhclient.conf file, such as after fqdn.fqdn. Sending a string hostname is nice, but that would require some way to populate fqdn.fqdn with the desired hostname - and that's something that even upstream (finally) agrees is something dhclient itself should know how to do. The big question, I think, is whether there should be a separate dhclient6.conf file or not. I'm inclined to think there should be separate files; but that's just my opinion. I don't think it would be harmful to send fqdn.fqdn to a DHCPv4 server, but I don't know if people would expect that behavior from stock dhclient. Windows XP+ send both Option 12 (host-name) and Option 81 (fqdn.fqdn), and most of the DHCP servers I've run handle that just fine. But still, since options have different numbers and the wire protocol is so different, that means that DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 are effectively different services and should be orthogonal to each other. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991360 Title: isc-dhcp-client does not send hostnames in DHCPv6 by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/991360/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 904014] Re: [MIR] netcf
+1 for 0.2.0 release. It seems the git repo has Serge's changes; what would prevent an 0.2.0 release at this point? It seems like: netcf MIR blocks libvirt build with netcf; the libvirt bug is getting a lot of attention from users, but this bug is the real linchpin for that issue. (Once 0.2.0 is released, it should pass the test suite, which will allow it into main, which will enable libvirt to depend on it, which will fix the libvirt bug). Serge's changes appear to be the most recent in the Git repo, so what is blocking a netcf 0.2.0 release? [Bug 991360] [NEW] isc-dhcp-client does not send hostnames in DHCPv6 by default
Public bug reported: DHCPv6 does not have a host-name option to send the client hostname to register with the DHCP server. There are several potential options here: 1) Use the same magic to insert the hostname via fqdn.fqdn (i.e. send fqdn.fqdn hostname; This should work with DHCPv4 as well. 2) Backport the gethostname() functionality from DHCP 4.2. 3) Upgrade to isc-dhcp-client 4.2. Perhaps some of these are more appropriate to consider for the Q cycle. Personally, I think option 1 (implementing hostname magic) for fqdn.fqdn would be the least intrusive. As issues go, this is admittedly minor. I have validated that netcf works on my precise VM. But to really fix this thing, the libvirt packages have to be configured to link against libnetcf, don't they? [Bug 366967] Re: ifupdown-udev integration should be thought-out more thoroghly
That was the thing - it had dns-search but not dns-nameservers. The dns-search line showed up fine. I don't think that's resolvconf's fault. After fixing /etc/network/interfaces, I rebooted the machine twice - the first time, I zero'ed the resolv.conf file (not deleting the symlink of course) and the resolv.conf regenerated as I expected. [Bug 366967] Re: ifupdown-udev integration should be thought-out more thoroghly
One of my systems (an Oneiric server) did not correctly regenerate resolv.conf on boot - but it had a partial interfaces file (dns-search was defined but not dns-nameservers. Don't ask me how that happened.) I'm not exactly sure what to make of that, as I have several other boxes (Oneiric and Precise) that worked just fine. I have been having some problems with the network interfaces on them (they are bnx2-based cards). I'll keep an eye on things and see if I can reboot that particular one again. Are there any diagnostic levels I can turn up in resolvconf to assist, if needed? [Bug 366967] Re: ifupdown-udev integration should be thought-out more thoroghly
I have installed the new packages on several oneiric and precise boxes that used to have problems with resolvconf 1.48 from Ubuntu; the 1.63ppa5 packages seem to resolve those issues. The servers are multi- interface machines, one workstation uses static addressing but never seemed to be able to populate its resolv.conf at boot time. (I had done the /etc/init.d/networking restart workaround). I installed the new packages on all of them today and they all populated resolv.conf correctly at boot time without requiring the networking restart. Re: [Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close
I would like to point out some things for those who are willing to listen: 1) Mark has not stated that the window controls decision has been finalized. He said that he supported the interface team's decision to do it this way for the beta. I think we do Ubuntu and the Canonical team great disservice if we believe they won't consider community input. I work in a corporate environment, and one of the most precious things in that setting is the ability to make decisions. What happens to the interface team if Mark turns around and says, ZOMG! The community is ON FIRE! Revert the window controls change NOW! Not only does that undermine the interface team, it undermines every other team in Ubuntu, because it sets a precedent that says that Mark will override anyone, at any time. While I'm skeptical about this particular change, I give Mark a lot of credit for backing the people he has hired to make these decisions. I have trust that they will ultimately do the right thing. 2) It's fairly straightforward to work around, should the final decision be to leave controls on the left for the release of 10.04. [Bug 304702] Re: E4X not work with rhino
Since as of Intrepid we have libxmlbeans-java packaged, could we enable E4X to build in the Rhino package? Here's the message from the rhino changelog: rhino (1.6.R5-3) unstable; urgency=low * Removed Wolfgang Baer from Uploaders and added myself. * Fixed FTBFS: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused. Was trying to download xmlbeans Jar, which is not allowed.
