[Bug 1923305] [NEW] LibreOffice 6.4 OpenType Features unusable
Public bug reported: When using OpenType features (Format - Character - Feature) from a capable font like EB Garamond 12, LibreOffice automatically enables a fractional style, which essentially makes all numerics unusable, and there's no obvious way to disable this in the GUI once you've opened the Features dialog. There are two workaround, as all OpenType features get disabled when selecting another font, and back again. And, of course, one can remove :frac=1 manually from the font name field. This has however been fixed in LibreOffice 7.0 onward, but somehow wasn't cherrypicked into 6.4.x, even though the change seems trivial: https://github.com/LibreOffice/core/commit/d28c9d56df8a2629321bda116a6d2dcfa587d160 Please consider including this cherrypick in a future package for Ubuntu Focal. The patch won't apply directly due to a filename typo getting corrected, which needs to be uncorrected in the patch: vcl/source/font/OpenTypeFeatureDefinitionList.cxx vcl/source/font/OpenTypeFeatureDefinitonList.cxx ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1923305 Title: LibreOffice 6.4 OpenType Features unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1923305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 932834] Re: Enable equalizer
As I've noted before, Trusty already has the equaliser module available in the standard pulseaudio package: $ dpkg -L pulseaudio | grep eq /usr/lib/pulse-4.0/modules/module-equalizer-sink.so So at least in Trusty this is actually fixed. All the critical hard to fix blumping is now in position. Having a GUI frontend for it, is a completely different matter, which has nothing to do with this bug, and has nothing to do with pulseaudio (to which this bug applies). If one were to have a proper equalizer GUI frontend in Ubuntu, it would have to be integrated into unity-control-center's sound panel: $ dpkg -L unity-control-center | grep -i panels | grep -i sound /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/unity-control-center-1/panels/libsound.so So for that a feature request would have to be filed against the unity- control-center package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/932834 Title: Enable equalizer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/932834/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1387303] Re: regression: gnome-keyring components can't be disabled anymore
This issue isn't about whether gnome-keyring is useful or not. But there are indeed many reasons for not wanting to use it for anything but secret store indeed, some as listed by Dmitri. The fact that gnome-keyring doesn't implement some of these features is rather inherent to the process, where either SSH or GPG need to advance, before GNOME is in a position to follow them. Resulting in natural lag. The fact that GNOME Keyring is only a small part of GNOME doesn't make it any better with regard to prioritization. The fact that GNOME (Keyring) is a usability focused project is indeed a valid reason to prefer the real ssh-agent or gpg-agent as they are security focussed projects and presumably should be more trustworthy. As for the remark about pkcs10, I'm not sure that actually being used by anything. The main use-case for it seems to be Firefox/Thunderbird which use NSS, which doesn't seem to be hooked up to GNOME Keyring's PKCS10 component by default. Regardless of defaults, if I understand well, the following will revert to the old behavior: echo manual /etc/xdg/upstart/gnome-keyring.override Allowing any user to disable to individual services like so: echo 'X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false' /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-gpg.desktop echo 'X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false' /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop echo 'X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false' /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-pkcs10.desktop -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387303 Title: regression: gnome-keyring components can't be disabled anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/1387303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1387303] [NEW] regression: gnome-keyring components can't be disabled anymore
Public bug reported: GNOME Keyring is by default a rather invasive service, which meddles with security sensitive processes invasively. This may or may not be wise depending on a users situation. One particular case is GNOME Keyring's gpg-agent implementation, which is incomplete and therefore doesn't support GPG's OpenPGP smartcard support. gpg simply fails (with smartcards) when GNOME Keyring is impersonating gpg-agent... So to be able to use OpenPGP smartcards on Ubuntu, one needs to disable GNOME Keyring from impersonating gpg-agent, which for quite some time now has been trivial to effectively do: echo 'X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false' /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome- keyring-gpg.desktop With GNOME Keyring's recent update (3.10.1-1ubuntu4.1) in Trusty, this seems to have been broken by the addition of: /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-keyring.conf So it seems the /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring files are either being ignored, or the started process is supplanted by the process started by the upstart session config. What is unclear to me is what the upstart session configuration is supposed to achieve? And if it is meant to supplant the xdg/autostart files, those should probably have been removed to prevent them from causing any confusion as to how gnome-keyring is started/managed. Presuming the upstart session is meant to stay, I would suggest to remove the /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-*.desktop files to prevent confusion as mentioned above. And in my opinion a mechanism should be provided so users can control which gnome-keyring components '-- components=pkcs11,secrets,ssh,gpg' are activated using some configuration file in /etc, as files in /usr aren't meant to be user edited. [Bug 1035679] Re: Ubuntu Installer crashes during installation
Also considering the problem seems to be related I'm not sure how using UCK would break that. Over UCK's history most bugs have been related to upstream changes with regard to updating kernels/bootloaders/services (SysV init-Upstart). Consider this may be a regression introduced by updates, this might turn out to be problematic for 12.04.1... Is there any source of semi-official daily 12.04 images (just as they are built daily before release)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035679 Title: Ubuntu Installer crashes during installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1035679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1035679] Re: Ubuntu Installer crashes during installation
So I did a new customized CD with UCK, for which the problem is reproducable (so it's not a one-time fluke). Considering that the problem occurs in the Creating User... phase, I ran the installer again, but now with ecrypfs disabled, and I got no errors that way. So this is likely an ecryptfs related issue. Is there any chance some regression with regard to ecryptfs was introduced? Is there a way (like a parameter to ubiquity) with which it will show me what commands it's executing (including the commands output)?
Well, I don't think it is reproducable with the uncustomized cd... As my current theory is one of the updates for Precise which I pulled in might be causing this. I've customized ISOs earlier without any problems, do mind, it's not weird customization, mostly just pulling in updates and including some extra packages (think gstreamer-* etc). Here's the ISO with the issue: http://files.pcode.nl/isos/broken/ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64-20120811-remastered.iso And a video recording of the installation (7:00-8:00 is the interesting bit): http://files.pcode.nl/isos/broken/ubuntu_1204_ubiquity_fail.ogv It seems to fail at Creating user... While I realize that you're not going to support all kinds of customized CDs, I wouldn't mind digging in a bit myself (because there's either a issue with Ubiquity, or with the Ubuntu Construction Kit (UCK), so something has to be fixed somewhere). [Bug 851982] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in CompWindow::id() from getPaintMask() [compizminimizedwindowhandler.h] from unity::UnityWindow::glPaint()
As I've mentioned this is an exceptionally annoying issue, so I've cherrypicked the fix into the current release version of Unity, and did a PPA for it: https://launchpad.net/~pmjdebruijn/+archive/unity-testing Previously Unity would crash about 50% of the time whenever I closed Darktable (a photography application), with the fixed Unity version from the above PPA, I opened and closed Darktable about ten times without any crashes yet. [Bug 585496] Re: The default MP3 profile is broken
Well first, this is still a bugfix, since the original intention has always been to use VBR... The slowing down is just a side-effect. Then, I highly doubt the quality is similar... And this brings up another point altogether, since the presets are called CD Quality, it's way to low quality anyways, for MP3 it should probably be Q4. And Q5 for Vorbis. [Bug 585496] Re: The default MP3 profile is broken
Huh? The _average_ bitrate is about the same... But that's the whole point of variable bitrate encoding... [Bug 585496] [NEW] The default MP3 profile is broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media By default the CD Quality, MP3 profile is broken. It seems to encode to 128kbit CBR, while it intends to encode to VBR Quality 6. Changing the VBR Quality has no effect at all. I was told the 'lame' encoding plugin has been deprecated, and it's being replaced by 'lamemp3enc'.
