[Bug 1530014] [NEW] When charging phone/tablet, power management says UPS battery is low and causes immediate shutdown
Public bug reported: Short story: I have a CyberPower 825AVR (USB attached) when attaching my iPhone or iPad (via USB) to charge, the Unity (gnome power manager?) displays a message saying the UPS battery is critically low and the system will shut down immediately. It does shut down immediately. It seems that upowerd or the gnome power manager "confuses" the device's (e.g., my iPhone's) battery with my UPS's battery. Interestingly, if I unplug the UPS cable, plug-in my iPhone, and then plug-in my UPS, the system does not shut down. However, the gnome power manager icon disappears and reappears at an interval of a second or two. Hopefully Useful Details: - Fresh install of Ubuntu 15.10 on my mid-2011 (i5-2400S, 20GB RAM) 21.5" iMac. - Single boot (OS/X is not installed). - UPS battery is in good health and fully charged. - Power drain on UPS is minimal: iMac, additional LCD display, and desktop speakers. upower: Installed: 0.99.3-1build2 Candidate: 0.99.3-1build2 Version table: *** 0.99.3-1build2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gnome-power-manager: Installed: 3.16.1-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.16.1-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.16.1-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I wrote a mark in syslog before plugging in my iPhone and attached the (hopefully) relevant part of the log. [Bug 496616] Re: Mediaplayer crashed with pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
I've had working audio and mplayer since 8.04, but since the upgrade to 10.10, no videos will play - after a few seconds I get the problem regarding pa_stream_cork failed. This is every single video I play through mplayer - it doesn't start to go wrong after a while, it doesn't get worse - it simply doesn't work. Can we please categorise this as a high-priority bug? At the least, provide a backport to the 10.04 (or earlier) version so that I can watch videos again please. If you want any extra information, please let me know - I'll gladly provide the information. -- Mediaplayer crashed with pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496616 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 659551] Re: Can't play mp4 files.
I have the same problem. Just a thought bbordwell - do you have a small MP4 video that you could attach here for us to test against? That is probably going to be a better way than trying to attach a hi-def 300-1200Mb file of ours? I'll happily run the test and add a listing of everything you want to this log whenever you want. [Bug 659551] Re: Can't play mp4 files.
Sorry - forgot to add: I've been using Ubuntu since 7.10 and have had it installed on the same netbook (an MSI Wind variant) updating every time - this is the first pulse-audio issue that I've had, so I don't think that it's an issue with an unsupported card or whatnot. [Bug 644644] Re: Frequent PA crashes during playback - pa_stream_cork() failed: Connection terminated and pa_stream_writable_size(): Connection failed
Ubuntu 10.10 running on Advent 4211 netbook (MSI Wind-like netbook) Was working fine in 10.04 Stopped on generic 10.10 install. I have added 10.10 Medibuntu and updated the mplayer version to their version, but this made no difference at all (which it wouldn't, given that the problem is pulseaudio). lspci list: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 2 (rev 02) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) SATA IDE Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family SMBus Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. [Bug 549096] Re: Duplicate Broadcast Icons in Indicator Applet
I have this issue as well. I have: gwibber: 2.30.0.1-0ubuntu1 indicator-applet: 0.3.6-0ubuntu2 indicator-messages: 0.3.6-0ubuntu2 - checked in Synaptic package manager. When I start, there is only 1 Broadcast Messages item on the Mail indicator. When I click it, it starts the Gwibber interface. When I click on the Mail indicator, there are now two entries for Broadcast Messages. Clicking on either will start the Gwibber interface again. ps -aef | grep gwibber | grep -v grep tw1453 1 0 09:59 ?00:00:03 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/gwibber-service tw1566 1173 0 09:59 ?00:00:03 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/gwibber-service This is vanilla Lucid, installed from the release on 30th April. No updates have yet been installed through the update manager, although I can see that there are no pending updates on any of the three packages listed above anyway. -- Duplicate Broadcast Icons in Indicator Applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/549096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 549096] Re: Duplicate Broadcast Icons in Indicator Applet
OK I just did the latest Lucid updates from the Update Manager (no proposed, just important) and it seems that the problem has now gone away - when I click on the broadcast messages menu item, Gwibber starts and there's only one menu item and only one gwibber-service in the ps listing. I assume it can't be related to the packages being listed in this bug list, as they remain the same versions after the update.
