[Bug 901944] Re: gdbserver inside qemu does not stop on breakpoints
This config lets me debug the kernel. However, I can not start debugging with qemu's -S option. With -S, qemu waits for a gdb connection to start the VM but gdb can't connect to the default port (:1234). Connection times out. [Bug 901944] [NEW] gdbserver inside qemu does not stop on breakpoints
Public bug reported: When debugging a kernel, gdb can connect to the remote target running in the qemu but the server does not stop execution on breakpoints set before. This also applies to kvm. Also, looking at the stack trace that I see when I manually stop execution, gdbserver seems to be very confused about where the current execution frame is: no matter what is happening in the VM, gdbserver reports the same (somewhat irrelevant) stack trace. [Bug 901944] Re: gdbserver inside qemu does not stop on breakpoints
Guest is a 2.6.38-10-server x86_64 kernel with ubuntu patches applied (configured to have some set of modules built-in + debugging symbols + non-preemptive + HZ=100). I can provide the config file if necessary. Root fs contains a minimal 10.04 server. Here is how I launch the VM: $ qemu-system-x86_64 -s -m 512 -drive file=root1.qcow2 -kernel ../../linux-2.6.38/arch/x86/boot/bzImage -append console=tty1 root=/dev/sda1 ro VM launches fine and drops to a login shell. Then I start gdb and connect to the server: $ gdb ../../linux-2.6.38/vmlinux {Init messages...} Reading symbols from ../../linux-2.6.38/vmlinux...done. (gdb) target remote :1234 Remote debugging using :1234 0x81076a0b in pvclock_clocksource_read (src=0x82201fd8) at arch/x86/kernel/pvclock.c:106 106 if ((valid_flags PVCLOCK_TSC_STABLE_BIT) (gdb) At this point the VM is unresponsive. Agreed with Martin G Miller and nate8nate. Bottom panel and fullscreen applications have the same color so it is impossible to tell where the line is... I don't understand why do you guys always have to enable/disable stuff just because a few doesn't like it or some other OS doesn't do it that way. OK, it is completely reasonable that you may not like something. I understand that. But why does it always have to end up being a bug? There are so many similar situations happened to me before; so many features (bugs) that I found invaluable were fixed in the past and forced me go back to a previous release. I really enjoyed panel shadows casting on my fullscreen windows but I can't get it now! [Bug 404979] Re: [Karmic] Bluetooth mouse cannot establish parity
Here is my story: - I have Jaunty, Karmic, and Windows 7 installed on my machine. I was using the same Logitech 270 Bluetooth mouse without any problems in Jaunty and I decided to give it a try in Karmic. I booted into it tried to pair my mouse using the gnome bluetooth applet. The very same thing happened to me: bluetooth applet claimed that connection was established but mouse kept blinking which means the pairing did not take place. Then I booted into Jaunty and the pairing wasn't successful in there either. Couple of reboots later into the Karmic, I decided to give my mouse a try in Windows 7. It worked perfectly. Then I tried pairing it again in Jaunty and Karmic, which really surprises me, and it worked... [Bug 306755] Re: SigmaTel STAC9205: Headphone Jack Not Working
infinitree, You missed either the point that you have to download the script file you are trying to execute or you didn't think that you have to extrart the actual script file from the archive you've downloaded. Your shell (most probably the bash) can't find the file you are trying to run. So, as posted above, goto to this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6589810#post6589810 thread and download the file named AlsaUpgrade-1.0.x-rev-1.17.tar. This is an archive file (.tar) just like .zip files. After you download, double click it and extract its contents to your desktop (drag'n'drop works). Then, in the terminal, cd to your desktop by typing cd ~/Desktop and try to run the script again. I know these stuff look very complicated at first. Switching from the Windows, it is very difficult to figure out what all these commands do and how do they work. My advise to you is using the manual pages for the commands you don't know about. For example, executing the command man sudo will bring you a nice documentation of the command sudo. These manual pages are available for virtually every command. Similarly, try man sh and you will get to know what sh does. Man pages will be your second friend after the Google. I hope this helps you getting your front jack working.
