[Bug 1683889] [NEW] complete system freeze after update to 17.04
Public bug reported: Since I have updated from 16.10 to 17.04 I am hunted by total system freezes (i.e. cannot move mouse, screen content is not updated, cannot switch to text terminal, even Caps Lock cannot be toggled). I have seen this 3 times already, two times with Firefox active and once while I was typing in Konsole, but with Firefox running in the back. Following log is from the last time and it also mentions 'firefox' so I think this is somehow relevant. [Bug 1681941] Re: Most of Breeze icons are missing in systemsettings5
This was observed after update from 16.10. However I have managed to find source of this 'bug'. I have some additional breeze icons in ~/.local/share/icons/breeze. For some reasons (probably because this was needed at some point in the past) I also had corresponding 'index.theme' file placed in this directory. File from previous version of Breeze icon theme, which is a little different than current one. After removing this file everything works as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681941 Title: Most of Breeze icons are missing in systemsettings5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemsettings/+bug/1681941/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1244948] [NEW] Bluetooth is stuck after suspend until WiFi networking is toggled
Public bug reported: Hi! After update from 13.04 to 13.10 I've started to experience weird issue. I'm using bluetooth mouse and usually it works great. However if I suspend my machine and then wake it up, mouse suddenly stop working. According to bluetooth applet, mouse is still connected, but it does not work. I've found workaround for this issue though: if I open network manager applet and switch wireless network off and then back on, bluetooth start working again. However another unexpected behaviour occurs: it sometimes unmount my SD card. My machine is HP ProBook 4320s. Same issue here. This is more serious because it's probably keeps LCD from turning off. Take a look at this thread: http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1215861873744+28353475threadId=1096080 -- Gutsy: USB devices stop working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/163481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 198141] Re: [hardy] [regression] acpi is totally broken on hp compaq nx6110/intel i915
Well everything is working fine now. It turned out that I had some serious problems with my hardware (motherboard, to be more specific) including dying USB hub (see my other bug reports for more details). After disassembling my laptop and cleaning up the motherboard with some alcohol everything seems to work fine. Very nasty bug, because it happened at the same time when I switched to Hardy beta. I believe this bug report can be close now. ** Changed in: acpid (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: acpi (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- [hardy] [regression] acpi is totally broken on hp compaq nx6110/intel i915 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198141 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 163481] Re: Gutsy: USB devices stop working
Well, I'm really sorry, but it looks like this is rather hardware related problem. I was very frustrated yesterday, because it looks like kubuntu's fault, but as it appears it was a coincidence. I'm almost sure that my laptop have some problems with connections somewhere on my mainboard, because my USB controller dies when I'm moving my laptop. The same goes for wireless card (I get ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting. in dmesg) and sometimes even with my touchpad. Sometimes my computer even hangs on X loading. I thought it was Kubuntu live, because I probably just didn't move my laptop when I was on LiveCD. Right now I believe it's almost certainly invalid bug report. So sorry once again for taking your time. -- Gutsy: USB devices stop working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/163481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 163481] Re: Gutsy: USB devices stop working
Please, change importance of this bug to high, because very weird things are happening with my USB right now. My mouse like dying, when switching from vt to X server even when wireless is disabled. That's not all - when I booted today to kubuntu 7.10 LiveCD in which, as fair as I remember, everything was working fine my USB devices was behaving very weird as well. I often have to turn off my machine (rebooting is apparently not enough) to restore USB ports in my NX6110 (but in most case rmmod uchci_hcd modprobe uhci_hcd works). Right now I'm very disappointed with (K)Ubuntu 8.04 - ACPI doesn't work anymore (it works perfectly in 7.10 and earlier) and acting very weird (constantly turning on and off my display etc.) and now this bug, which makes my USB devices unusable. My experiences with 8.04 are even more sad when you consider that I'm using 8.04 since Alpha 3 and I was reporting ACPI problems in march, but without any response (here's bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpid/+bug/198141). [Bug 163481] Re: Gutsy: USB devices stop working
I believe it's not necessary a hardware problem. In my case (HP NX6110) it's probably some bug related with ipw2200/networkmanager and probably also WPA/WPA2 (wpasupplicant), because I started using WPA yesterday and at the same time my problems with USB started. Even more: when I disconnect with my WPA AP and turn off wireless card (Intel Pro Wireless 2200) everything start working just fine. Really weird. ** Also affects: wpasupplicant (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-source-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gutsy: USB devices stop working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/163481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 198355] Re: ipw2200: no wireless networks after installation in network-manager
Well, sort of. After commenting out /etc/network/interfaces I can see and connect to wireless network, but I'm unable to get on boot connection, because it appears that setting my home wireless network as activated on boot with Manual configuration option doesn't work - Kubuntu simply doesn't store any of my settings. And one more thing: Now, when I'm using knetworkmanager, I'm getting disconnected from time to time. [Bug 214015] Re: faulty update of linux-image-2.6.24-15.27
I have the same problem with stuck splash. The fault is in wrong menu.lst generated by new linux-image. The problem is in root UUID. My root UUID is 1fd1a(...)516, and linux-image wants to replace it with 11fa612f-f549-4e6e-8c71-257d6bdedbb9. This is exactly the same UUID I found in menu.lst examples: (...) ## ## Start Default Options ## ## default kernel options ## default kernel options for automagic boot options ## If you want special options for specific kernels use kopt_x_y_z ## where x.y.z is kernel version. When I try to use Suspend from guidance-power-manager menu nothing happens (except that guidance is locking my session, but it has nothing to do with ACPI). I thought it's hal/dbus fault and I installed hibernate package and try to use my working hibernate configuration from feisty. When I run sudo hibernate suspend seems to works. The disk and screen are turning off and I get usual leds blinking meaning that the machine is suspended. But when I hit Power button it doesn't wake up - backlight never lights up, leds are turned off etc. But after repeatedly pressing power button somethings happen (hdd and other leds are blinking, WiFi led lights up) and then I get reboot. And about Lid button: it works, but really strange. After I press Lid button everything looks fine - guidance give me proper notice (laptop lid is closed, blanking screen now) and my display is turning off. Then, when I open lid it lights up, but after a minute guidance detect closed lid again and my display is turning off again. The only way to stop this behavior is sudo /etc/init.d/acpid stop - stopping guidance/dbus/hal doesn't help. And there's also something wrong with the display, because when I try to watch movie in mplayer using xv output while using AC adapter, backlight level is changing automatically to level that is used while on battery only and stays that way until I press acpi buttons for changing backlight. Definitely weird. And it gets better: lid butto seems to work fine when I'm on battery only. For the record: everything worked fine on feisty. I tried Alpha 3, 4, 5 and up to date hardy, but it's still broken. [Bug 188424] [NEW] [hardy] sudo unable to resolv hostname
Public bug reported: Hi, I recently installed Hardy Heron Alpha 3. During the install I changed hostname to, say, myhostname. After reboot I wasn't able to use sudo, because it was giving me error: unable to resolv hostname. My problem, and solution is identical to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/9471, except the mentioned one is from 2005 and is closed as fixed. ** Affects: sudo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [hardy] sudo unable to resolv hostname https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188424 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 188429] [NEW] [hardy] hal lid button cosntantly turning off display
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal It's very hard to tell if this is a hal problem, but it's my best guess, so forgive me if I'm wrong. I have this annoying problem since alpha 3: after I press the lid switch in my laptop by closing the display, Ubuntu starts to constantly turning off my display every 30 seconds, despites the lid is not pressed anymore. It's extremely annoying and the only solution I found is sudo /etc/init.d/hal stop. It helps, but usually not for long, since hal appears to start again (by something else in my kubuntu installation probably) automatically. Also the display is turning off after I press my WiFi card (ipw2200) kill switch (!).
