[Bug 1946507] Re: Ubuntu Install Setup Freeze
It seems that Ubuntu 20.04.4 gets stuck at the same step with the same traces appearing in the kernel log. Since the installer uses the same kernel (5.13) it likely is caused by that kernel version. Ubuntu 22.04 (nightly as of 20220301, which seems to come with 5.15) seems to work fine here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946507 Title: Ubuntu Install Setup Freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1946507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Similar hang on a T440s trying to install Ubuntu 21.10. The system currently has a fresh Windows 11 copy on half of its SSD hard drive. It seems that ntfsresize causes the kernel to hang. [Bug 1318551] Re: Kernel Panic - not syncing: An NMI occurred, please see the Integrated Management Log for details.
The Kernel installed in our environment is compiled using GCC 4.8.2 (check dmesg | head). Hence I don't think this is related. We had the kernel panic again last week (see attachment). We added the hpwdt module to blacklist, which hopefully works around this problem. We also updated the BIOS, but not sure whether this would have solved the problem. [Bug 1318551] Re: Kernel Panic - not syncing: An NMI occurred, please see the Integrated Management Log for details.
We see this or a similar issue on a DL360 G7. As visible in the stack trace, we are using VirtualBox. However, I think this is not related since we used the same version on a earlier Kernel. We also upgraded to latest VirtualBox version after the last crash, however the system crashed again since then. [Bug 1091464] Re: Unable to chainload Windows 8 with Secure Boot enabled
On my Samsung Series 9 device I do have the exactly same behavior. I documented this in my blog post: http://falstaff.agner.ch/2012/12/18/ubuntu-12-10-and-windows-8-with-secure-boot-mode/ However, I observed that my original Windows Boot Manager has a slightly different file path: Boot0008* Windows Boot Manager HD(2,96800,32000,f1fdeac1-d057-4f3b- 9f66-6f74eb3b469b)File(\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi) compared to Grub: /ACPI(a0341d0,0)/UnknownMessaging(12)/HD(2,fa800,96000,372001a2fb07f544,a3,ff)/File(\EFI\Microsoft\Boot)/File(bootmgfw.efi). However, the same menu entry works if I disable Secure Boot. [Bug 479614] [NEW] Nautilus hangs from time to time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When I boot up my laptop and start Nautilus for the first time it always hangs several seconds (~30 seconds). Then it often works for some minutes, and suddenly (especally when i type letters to select a folder) he hangs again. While nautilus hangs, i started several times gdb and printed a backtrace, he prints allways the same backtrace (see attachment). This bug could be a duplcate of several other bugs reporting hangs in nautilus, but they often lack information to descide if this is true... therefor I opened a new one. The stacktrace lacks some method names, can I do something to print more method names (load symbols?) [Bug 457614] [NEW] Cryptsetup is started twice on startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cryptsetup I tried to use cryptsetup in karmic with a encrypted file (via losetup). Cryptsetup supports this kind of configuration, my /etc/crypttab line looks like this: # target name source device key file options container /home/user/myimage.img nonecipher=aes,check=ext2 However, I couldn't decrypt the file on startup. I started debugging this problem and noticed that the startup function do_start from /lib/cryptsetup/cryptdisks.functions is called twice, once from Upstart (/etc/init/cryptdisks-enable.conf) and once from old init.d script (/etc/rcS.d/S26cryptdisks-early). This leeds to the problem that the first running script uses /dev/loop0 and the second /dev/loop1. The first tries then to decrypt it, but the file isnt connected to /dev/loop0 anymore, because the second losetup command which created /dev/loop1 took the file. In the end, the file wasnt decrypted after 6 tried (two times 3 tries, for each startup script). In my opinion, the upstart script doesnt work properly, it doesnt support the noearly option from crypttab anyway (the old init.d script is running twice, once with a early parameter (INITSTATE=early)... ** Affects: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cryptsetup upstart -- Cryptsetup is started twice on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457614 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I belive that there is something wrong with WEP-Key fetching over DBUS from NM system service... That's why its working when I enter the key in the settings, nm-applet don't have to fetch the key over DBUS. A pretty simple workaround is available: Disable the BIOS option Fan always ON on AC Power under System Config - Device Config. I can confirm this using WEP Keys... NM is unusable when using System wide settings... Also strange is that when I go into Wireless Config, the Wireless key isnt there, altough the key is saved in the config file under /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/MyConnection... -- Network Manager fails to connect to a system stored network with set_network_cb(): Couldn't set network config: Did not receive correct message.. in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tried the new 2.6.28-rc2, which did not work. Then I tried 2.6.25.19, which worked with ACPI, but only some times. [Bug 267376] Re: [Request] OpenOffice.org 3.0 in Intrepid ibex release
I would love to see OpenOffice.org 3 in Intrepid. I belive, that when you don't include it, everybody will get it through PPA and download it anyway. Escpecially the users which really using it daily! Yes, I know, its okey to use PPA's! I love them too! BUT when a huge amount of users use a PPA, then the package should be included into the distribution! Colin wrote, its far to Risky to include it in this stage of the release cycle. But what about the users which want to use OpenOffice.org 3 and therefor use the PPA (which will be a huge amount of users)? Its risky for them too! Thats why the its risky argument doesnt count for me! I think its more risky to have a vast amount of users out there, which uses the PPA just to get OOo 3. You cant just shirk responsibility and say Ah, its not working? He is using PPA? Not our Problem! when everybody is affected... So Ubuntu has to take care for the OOo 3 Packages anyway, which leads to the question why not include it!? When users call for something, it sould be included! If you dont do it, the users get it at their own way, and the system is probably less stable. This brings a negative credibility regarding stability also I would prefer a delay of Intrepid, if it bring OOo 3 with it... -- [Request] OpenOffice.org 3.0 in Intrepid ibex release https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
