[Bug 440590] Re: No /dev/video for a (formerly working) Aiptek/Sunplus-Webcam

2011-02-20 Thread mkalkbrenner
Same issue here.

Ubuntu 10.10 64Bit
Webcam: D-Link DSC-350 = gspca_spca500

When connecting the wabcam, /dev/video appears and immediately
disappears:

[ 1513.460064] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 8
[ 1513.654428] gspca: probing 084d:0003
[ 1513.654528] gspca: video0 created
[ 1513.654624] gspca: probing 084d:0003
[ 1514.042937] gspca: video0 disconnect
[ 1514.043094] gspca: video0 released

But if I leave the cam attached, remove all gspca_* modules, wait a
minute and load gspca_spca500 again, /dev/video0 exists and the cam
works:

sudo modprobe -v gspca_spca500
insmod
/lib/modules/2.6.35-25-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/v4l2-compat-ioctl32.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.35-25-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/v4l1-compat.ko

[ 2245.385289] usbcore: registered new interface driver spca500
[ 2245.385296] spca500: registered

Looks like a kind of race condition.

I installed all evolution related 2.30.3-x packages from maverick-
proposed and everything works fine now.

Evolution. When clicking the account, the folder structure won't expand and the
account does not send or receive e-mail (although) it does appear in the
send/receive dialog box.

[Bug 5608] Re: SWAT expects to authenticate as root

2010-09-19 Thread mkalkbrenner
Workaround from #8 solved the issue for me in ubuntu 10.10. But I don't
know if this causes any unwanted side effects.

BTW it seems really strange to me that this issue exists since more than
four years now! It's impossible to use SWAT out of the box on ubuntu
unless you searched the web.

I ran into the same problem as I switched from DHCP to a static IP.

... and my mythtv backend doesn't start automatically anymore.

DHCP = nfs mounts via fstab and mythtv backend works
static IP = nfs shares need to be mounted by hand and mythtv-backend has to be
started by hand
