[Bug 575509] [NEW] Installation of fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu3_i386.deb fails.

2010-05-04 Thread ron keizer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdebi

I upgraded from karmic to lucid.

In karmic I installed the fglrx-packages by:
  sudo sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run
using the guide lines from https://help.ubuntu.com/community
/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI.

After upgrading to lucid I received the message that X was not
configured correctly and I accepted the message with OK in order to
correct the problem.

Via the internet site of ATI I found this file:
ati-driver-installer-10-4-x86.x86_64.run and I used:
  sudo sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/lucid

[Bug 473397] Re: No sound at all after live install ubuntu 9.10

2009-11-11 Thread ron keizer
At startup the drum beat for login is heard, hence the sound device is
detected and activated. While starting up the desktop no sound is heard.
I checked sound preferences by dragging the mouse pointer on the icon
and the correct sound device is shown. But the moment I start sound
preferences and check the device, it is shown, suddenly disappears and
the icon tip shows me Dummy output instead of the correct sound
device.

Maybe this is of extra help solving this problem.

Re: [Bug 237139] Re: No bullets are shown while typing password at logon screen

2008-06-04 Thread ron keizer
Hi,

Thanks to you all for the prompt replies.
Hide visual feedback in the password entry check box was indeed checked, but
not by me.
The problem occurred after installing the latest kernel update.
I unchecked the check box and everything is fine again.

Sorry for bugging you all with a configuration problem ;-)

Kind regards

Ron.

Re: [Bug 237139] Re: No bullets are shown while typing password at logon screen

2008-06-04 Thread ron keizer
Hi Connor,

The upgrade I was referring to was the upgrade to 2.6.24-17.
Once I discovered the problem I rebooted and used the 2.6.24-16 kernel with the
same result.
So it may well be that the upgrade to the 2.6.24-17 changed the check box Hide
visual feedback...
I can not recall changing it myself.

In the mean time I upgraded to 2.6.24-18 also and the problem did not occur.

OK, I had already made that upgrade, but did not experience this issue. It
seemed to me, from my experience on the forums, that the upgrade to -17 caused
a lot of problems for people, but unless somebody can confirm this bug, we will
leave it as New. The reason we can't confirm it at this time is because it is
possible that there was another cause for the problem, but the kernel upgrade
happened to be in the mix and was simply the most visible candidate as the
source of the problem.
Hopefully somebody else will stop by and confirm this, otherwise it is
fortunate that it acts more like a simple and easily fixed glitch than a full
fledged bug.
All the best.
